White demographic
[edit]Interesting note from https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/White_Americans / http://www.census.gov/prod/cen2010/briefs/c2010br-02.pdf: White people include people with backgrounds from Europe, Middle East, and North Africa. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Ssdfan (talk • contribs) 00:11, 3 October 2016 (UTC)
Safest City
[edit]I changed the safest city blurb in the beginning. Sterling Heights is NOT the safest city in Michigan. In fact, Troy, Mich, right next door is safer according to Morgan Quinto. Sterling is the safest city in Michigan with a population between 100,000 and 499,000. Personally, I don't think this information should even be included for a couple of reasons:
1. Morgan Quinto Press just massages FBI crime statistics to come up with these ratings. Law enforcement professionals do not take them seriously.
2. The fact that Sterling Heights sprawls over such a large area means it has an inflated population. While it falls into the 100,000-499,000 population category, it would be more reasonable to compare it against cities like Troy (sixth safest city in the nation if I'm remembering right). Warren would be another good comparison, but they don't release crime statistics and aren't included by Morgain Quinto.
3. It's total PR by the city's community relations department.
Think about it. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.236.171.37 (talk • contribs) 19:01, 12 September, 2006
- Is there better/more credible source that you (or anyone) can suggest to give a relative crime statistic? I think a blanket statement like "[l]aw enforcement professionals do not take them seriously" is no better than "massage[d] FBI crime statistics"Mstefaniak (talk) 15:31, 22 December 2009 (UTC)

Anthony (Tony) Dobry was not the first mayor
[edit]The man is my uncle. He was the last township supervisor. He was the first mayor. He brought in the VW Rabbit factory (which closed later). He lost the election (in part) because he would not go along with politically powerful cable companies, who helped get him defeated in his reelection bid. This all goes back to the early 1960s, so it is hard to find sources on line. He retired and moved to Grayling, Michigan with his wife Eleanor. She is deceased, and he has moved on from there. Take a look at this: http://newspapers.rawson.lib.mi.us/chronicle/CCC_1980%20(E)/Issues/05-15-1980_11.pdf If you have some authority that he was not the first mayor, please provide it. 7&6=thirteen (talk) 19:12, 8 April 2008 (UTC) Stan {{
- I spoke today with the
- Sterling Heights City Clerk office.: 586.446.2420 • Walter C. Blessed, City Clerk/Assistant City Manager
- They indicated that Gerald Donovan, was the first elected mayor, elected July 1st 1968 to November 23, 1971
- Anthony Dobry was the second elected mayor, from November 20, 1973. to November 10, 1981.
I was wrong. I apologize. 7&6=thirteen (talk) 19:39, 8 April 2008 (UTC) Stan
GM Heritage Center
[edit]According to their website the General Motors Heritage Center is located in Sterling Heights. Shouldn't that be written into the article somehow? ---------User:DanTD (talk) 13:08, 5 September 2013 (UTC)
History section, paragraph two, first sentence.
[edit]The first sentence, "Dobry Road on the northern city limits is named after him.", makes no sense in that Dobry is not previously mentioned or described. 214.10.6.24 (talk) 20:50, 15 December 2016 (UTC)
