Update maps!

[edit]

Please update the maps! They are several months old! Kobane is now 100 % in Kurdish hands. (Might want to hold off on any changes for a bit)--2600:6C54:7E00:AC4:A18E:5414:B864:5803 (talk) 01:08, 17 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Jordan, UAE, Saudi Arabia listed under Airstrikes

[edit]

The citations linked to state that Jordan, UAE, and Saudia Arabia conducted airstrikes in Syria and DO NOT specify that these strikes were conducted near the city of Kobani. Since this article is about the Siege of Kobani, I believe they should be removed or better sources provided. Albert.trosk (talk) 17:39, 12 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

This article, for instance, is more explicit in its attribution of airstrikes to at least the UAE and Saudi Arabia -- "The US Central Command (Centcom) said that US fighter jets alongside UAE and Saudi Arabian military aircraft carried out fresh airstrikes on Thursday and Friday around the southeast of Kobane and in Deir al-Zour, in eastern Syria, destroying several IS vehicles and training facilities."[1] Albert.trosk (talk) 17:57, 12 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Dates, and involved parties

[edit]

I was reviewing Syrian Kurdish–Islamist conflict (2013–present) and on this page it states that ISIS began the siege in August of 2013, this page itself the Siege of Kobane page also states Ahrar Al Sham and Al-Nusra participated early on in the siege prior to 2014. Al-Nusra, ISIS, Ahrar Al Sham and even FSA aligned factions have participated together before against Kurdish groups prior to the infighting in 2014. Also I think Turkey should be mentioned in how it allowed Peshmerga into Kobane as well as how they blockaded Kobane to completely reflect the reality of the battle.
