Salentino dialect(s)

[edit]

Salentino dialect is very similar to Sicilian. According to 1 (in Italian) (see also 2 (in English)), the German scholar Gerhard Rohlfs wrote a dictionary regarding the Salentino dialect(s). --Doktor Who 01:56, 30 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Flag / coat of arms

[edit]

Please don't add unofficial flag, nor link to Terra d'Otranto's coat of arms (Terra d'Otranto was a quite different region, which encompassed various non-Salento territories until Matera). 3knolls (talk) 05:38, 24 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia is based on consensus. If other users deem it inappropriate to add unofficial symbols, then we will proceed to remove them. Maybe you are used to the Italian Wikipedia differently, but I advise you to adapt to the seriousness of this other place, thanks. PS: Matera was literally the only non-sallentine territory included in the old Terra d'Otranto, the other ones were (and still are) geographically part of the Salento peninsula. You are wrong, English Wikipedia is based on its own guidelines: in this case, MOS:NONSOVEREIGN applies, since never Salento was a sovereign nation. PS You are wrong again. Ginosa, Laterza and various other towns and territories were part of Terra d'Otranto, but they are NOT in Salento district.--3knolls (talk) 06:36, 25 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Ok, according to the same logic, we can then delete also the proposed Unofficial flag of Romagna, since It never was a sovereign nation. By the way, read here:
Wikipedia:Consensus.
You're not in Italian Wikipedia, thanks. As for the Terra d'Otranto, you really should stop scrambling. The truth is that, with the exception of those few municipalities located outside the Salento peninsula, the Terra d'Otranto followed the borders of current Salento. Deal with it, pugliesotto.
