[edit]According to [1] it opened in 1903, 1907, 1911, 1914 and 1918. It begins at Hunting Park Avenue just west of Broad Street; [2] shows the main road turning west where the freeway is now, with a connection to Belfield Avenue. [3] shows Northeast Boulevard ending at Pennypack Circle (Holme Avenue) and Bensalem Avenue continuing north. [4] (1923) shows the same end, but it's been renamed Roosevelt Boulevard.
Details on the openings:
- 1914 to Rhawn Street?
- April 1917 over Pennypack Creek [5]
- 1920 to Welsh Road???
- Bridge dates from NBI
- railroad at Wyoming Avenue? 1906
- Tacony Creek 1909
- railroad north of Whitaker Avenue 1909
- railroad north of Adams Avenue? 1909
- Pennypack Creek 1920
- Poquessing Creek (county line) 1921
- According to the article, the road was renamed for TR in 1918 and is called "Theodore Memorial Boulevard." However, TR did not die until 1919. So, is the date of the change wrong or was there more than one change or was "Memorial" never part of the name? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Chatsphilly (talk • contribs) 13:20, 22 October 2012 (UTC)
Contruction of the Roosevelt Line
[edit]Is it true that the contruction for the Roosevelt Line will start contruction in 2009?
Link to the site where it says so
- No. They publish that idea every few years, but no one ever does anything about it. --Coemgenus 14:16, 14 October 2006 (UTC)
Roosevelt Boulevard Improvements
[edit]A few years ago, the Roosevelt Boulevard Transportation Investment Study was published for the Philadelphia City Planning Commission. I thought I actually had a copy of the pdf which explained the history, benefits, costs, and tradeoffs of various improvements to the Boulevard. This would include construction of the Roosevelt Line discussed by Coemgenus.
Does anyone have that publication? It would make a very informative link to inlcude to this article. Hsmith254 05:44, 31 December 2006 (UTC)
Express/Local
[edit]The inner lanes aren't really express lanes, but the inner are used for left turning traffic and the outer for right turning traffic.

"The Boully"?
[edit]While the opening sentence of this article claims that's often used as a nickname for the Boulevard, I'm a lifelong Philadelphia who's never heard that term used, and there are only a single-digit number of google hits for "The Boully" +Philly (or +Philadelphia). Since the claim is made without attribution, I'm questioning whether it belongs. Jimmosk (talk) 22:53, 26 January 2023 (UTC)
- I went ahead and removed it, I have never heard that term used by people from Philly, it’s either “Roosevelt Boulevard” or “the Boulevard”. Dough4872 23:02, 26 January 2023 (UTC)
