Section-specific issues
[edit]Lead
[edit]- "... released on Interscope Records in December 2001 (see 2001 in music)." - Why not just list the exact release date and format it as [December 11] [2001 in music|2001]?
Background and production
[edit]- "The band "spent most of the time swimming and getting sunburned and drinking and smoking and recording a little music";[4] Dumont passed out while recording a track from heavy drinking." - This doesn't flow well. Maybe it's just me, but the sentence about Dumont seems too abrupt. I feel like there needs to be something that leads into. "At one point," for example. Or, even to rewrite that part to say something like "Heavy drinking lead to Dumont passing out while recording a track."
Critical reception
[edit]- The MOS recommends against wikilinking words in quotes. I find it particularly unnecessary, for example, that bus and parking lot be wikilinked in a quote. These just don't seem like a justifiable exceptions.
Sales and chart performance
[edit]- Wikification in the article seems off to me. Some words, as noted above, seem wikified for no reason (they don't relate to the topic or add context), while other words should be wikified, in my opinion, such as Triple Platinum.
Non-section-specific
[edit]- Although it is mentioned in the article, it seems to me that the fact that this album covers so many genres warrants the inclusion of a "Musical style" section.
Conclusion
[edit]Those are the only issues I noted regarding the GA criteria. However, this article just didn't impress me as much as your previous articles have. No offense, of course. It's just missing something. I'm not sure what. Criteria-wise, it's pretty close to passing. Just the few things above addressed. And, of course, if you don't agree with any of my suggestions, just leave a reply.
With that said, I have put the article on hold for no more than seven days. Regards, LaraLoveT/C 06:33, 13 July 2007 (UTC)
- WP:MUSTARD recommends against using piped links to X in music articles since the link's target then isn't intuitive to most readers. I've removed a bunch of the less helpful links (I do have a tendency to overlink articles), and I linked platinum to platinum album. I'll see about rewording that part in the Background and production section, and I'll try to split off the last paragraph of the section into a new article sometime tomorrow. I have to agree that this isn't the same quality as most of the song articles I've done; unfortunately, there aren't as many online resources for older albums, and information about chart performance is almost non-existant. 17Drew 06:49, 13 July 2007 (UTC)
Upon reviewing the article again, I see the suggestions have been addressed. With that, I have listed the article as a Good Article. As always, Drew, thank you for your hard work. Improving articles to GA improves Wikipedia. Regards, LaraLove 03:30, 16 July 2007 (UTC)
UNDERNEATH IT ALL
[edit]This article states that Underneath it All was the bands high charting single, didn't "Don't Speak" make it to number one ? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 74.71.75.254 (talk) 04:01, 20 September 2007 (UTC)
- No, "Don't Speak" was not released as a physical single, so Billboard never included it on the Billboard Hot 100, only the Billboard Hot 100 Airplay. 17Drew 05:44, 20 September 2007 (UTC)
Comments
[edit]""Hey Baby" preceded the album with an October 2007 release." - probably a mix-up with something from The Sweet Escape. Also, weren't there some television commercials promoting the album? That's not a very common way of advertising albums, so it probably should be mentioned somewhere if you can find a source. Teemu08 (talk) 18:09, 8 December 2007 (UTC)
- I was only thinking of the month when I wrote that, so I accidentally put the year as 2007. Thanks for catching that. I can't seem to find anything about commercials about Rock Steady. I did, however, find a commercial for Rock Steady Live, which would probably be a good thing to mention alongside the Rock Steady re-releases. 17Drew (talk) 01:38, 9 December 2007 (UTC)
2 Track Bonus Disk
[edit]I have the 2 track bonus disk (with Underneath It All, Just A Girl and the video for Underneath it All). It doesn't say BBC Radio 1; it says "radio 1Live, Cologne Germany, June 2002") --Docwhat (talk) 15:18, 19 January 2008 (UTC)
More Album Art?
[edit]I think there should be more album art images, as their is more than one. I live in Australia and mine is red with black font, with Rock Steady in red. and there are others as well.--124.181.213.51 (talk) 09:27, 21 February 2010 (UTC)
I totally agree. I have seen like 4 different versions of the cover art.219.89.149.155 (talk) 09:36, 1 October 2010 (UTC)
