WaPo article
[edit]Washington Post article with more info on the AET thingy. At least the $ figure needs to be revised to $ 750,000 [1].--TMCk (talk) 20:42, 29 January 2021 (UTC)
Deletion of personal information not correctly cited
[edit]Hello - So in reviewing the sources of the paragraph that lists his place of birth, parents, Uncle, etc, 2 of the 5 are dead links and of the 3 that work, none of them mention/explicitly state: 1) where Reid Hoffman was born, 2) who is parents are, 3) where he grew up and 4) that Eric Hoffman is his Uncle. Perhaps "(citation needed)" was the better fix, but since it's a biography of a living person, I thought better to err on the side privacy and caution and delete. Thoughts? — Preceding unsigned comment added by BMFife (talk • contribs) 13:53, 23 May 2022 (UTC)
Reduction of promotional language
[edit]Hi, I just wanted to mention here that I have made some edits to reduce the promotional language on this article, as well as some miscellaneous copyediting and improvements. (diff)
Hopefully this can be a good start to fixing the problems mentioned by the current maintenance templates. I'm still new to Wikipedia, so let me know if the edits here are too much or too little. Thanks. Wysholp 🧊 (talk) 07:25, 16 March 2023 (UTC)
- Hi @BMFife, I revised some of your recent edits regarding Hoffman's March 2023 book and podcast to remove promotional language, especially because they are very new and have not really received significant independent coverage. I have also moved all of Hoffman's podcast activity into one section.
- (See diffs [2], [3])
- I think that this will help towards getting the article to a point where the maintenance templates can be removed. Let me know if you would like to discuss it. Thanks. Wysholp 🧊 (talk) 21:36, 17 March 2023 (UTC)
- Hi @Wysholp - I'm going to dive into this page and try to really clean it up, hopefully to the point the maintenance templates can be removed. Obviously any comments or suggestions you or any other editor have would be appreciated! BMFife (talk) 16:08, 27 April 2023 (UTC)
- Is there a reason behind the subtitle "public intellectual work" as opposed to "public speaking" or just a section on the books he has written? Die Kunst Der Fuge (talk) 21:43, 8 May 2023 (UTC)
- Good question, looks like @SPECIFICO rendered that moot by removing the poorly-cited/uncited public appearances. With all of the recent work, I think the issues raised by the maintenance blocks have been addressed. Anybody object to removing them? BMFife (talk) 15:44, 9 May 2023 (UTC)
I recently created the article in the section title, and was hoping editors could help find additional sourcing for Reid’s participation, namely how much of the funding came from him. The project is not mentioned in this BLP, and I also would like to hear other editor’s opinions if perhaps it should be. Finally, I would invite interested editors to read the sources over there and see if anything can be expanded, as I think it’s very interesting and not as well known as it should be.
