What does it do ? What's it for?

[edit]

There's currently (December, 2017) nothing in the Omohyoid muscle article that says accurately what the muscle actually does. Other muscles "depress" and elevate the hyoid bone. What is the real function of the Omohyoid? (In people or in animals?) It is unusual and mysterious for Wikipedia to describe a muscle's physical shape, insertion, origin, sheathing, layout etc. without disclosing its actual function in the body. Why would the small, floating hyoid bone in the middle of the throat need to be connected by a long, stringy, bent muscle with the distant shoulderblades? Is moving the shoulder posteriorly supposed to affect the hyoid? Does swallowing supposedly involve the shoulders? 2605:6000:ED0D:9E00:15A1:EDC2:8C50:F3B1 (talk) 17:27, 30 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]
