novy god is just the russian word for 'new year', this page should redirect to new year's eve page where we could add84.167.255.182 14:44, 25 December 2006 (UTC) information on the Soviet traditions. ~ Actually Novy god is a tradition and an event name that is selebrated by ussr immegrants all over the world with the exact name, e.g. South Africa , Israel where there is no christian relation — Preceding unsigned comment added by 109.226.0.144 (talk) 18:17, 4 January 2012 (UTC)
Russian Jews
[edit]The sentence beginning with "Russian Jews in America and Israel often use the Novogodnyaya Yolka..." seems to imply to me that Russian immigrants of other religion have dropped this practice while the Russian Jews have continued it. Is that what was intended? If not, wouldn't it be better stated "Russian immigrants often use the Novogodnyaya Yolka..."?

Ban on Christmas Trees
[edit]The article says: "There is an urban myth that Soviet authorities banned the Christmas tree and reinstated it as the Новогодняя ёлка (Novogodnyaya yolka, "New-year fir-tree") in 1935. In fact, there is no historical evidence or written record to support the revised history perspective.", yet there are no references for that
While the other article on Wikipedia (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/New_Year_tree) gives evidence for that, not only in text, but also with a picture of soviet newspaper.
I'll edit this part of the article and this is my explanation for that. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 158.38.221.104 (talk) 15:53, 16 November 2017 (UTC)
