Redirect to Mulikevirus

[edit]

ComfyKem linked this page, which describes a species, to the Mulikevirus page I just created, which describes a genus. He has linked a few previously non-existing pages describing species, but this one actually had some substance to it. I'm wondering what the protocol is here. @ComfyKem, please don't take this as disrespect; it just seems like some information might be lost.

It's something I've been wanting to do for a while that has been accepted by other members of the virus project. As a general rule, if a genus has only one species, then the species article should be merged into the genus article since the characteristics of the two are the same. For this virus, even though the article has content, all of the meaningful content is already included in the genus article, so there really isn't anything to merge, so just a redirect is fine. And the information won't be lost since it's still in the edit history and redirects can be seen through the "What links here" tool. ComfyKem (talk) 01:15, 18 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]
