Predecessor?

[edit]

I think it is wrong to name the 8-cylinder Mercedes 770 as the predecessor of the W186. The two have almost nothing in common, very different technical features.

On the other hand, the prewar 230 W153, 6-cylinder, has much more in common with the W186 and is a much better candidate to be called its predecessor. The W186 is based on the same tubular X-shaped frame, like the W153. It has even the same wheelbase of 3050 mm. The rear axle is of a similar type. Even the glasses follow a similar pattern, with narrow, chromed columns and the small windows behind the rear doors, which were unique to the W153, before the W186 appeared. 80.72.92.77 (talk) 05:23, 24 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
