Name

[edit]

Her name is Maryanne Weathers. I interviewed her for my book, Inside the Second Wave of Feminism. Liberationfemale (talk) 14:40, 15 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Liberationfemale: We need a reliable source for this. Is it included in your book? If so, at what page, and please give a full quote here. Did she always use the name "Maryanne", or is that something she changed? Andy Mabbett (Pigsonthewing); Talk to Andy; Andy's edits 15:16, 15 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I interviewed her in San Francisco in November 2017 for my book and she emphasized that her name had always been Maryanne.
On page 28 in my book, Inside the Second Wave of Feminism, in the chapter titled "The Road to Feminism," I have quotes from each person. "Maryanne - "I grew up in Roxbury, Massachusetts. I was involved in the Black liberation struggle." Liberationfemale (talk) 16:03, 15 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I was wondering if this is adequate or do I need something else.
Thanks. Liberationfemale (talk) 17:17, 17 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Liberationfemale: Does your book quote her saying that? Do you have any other source(s) for the name? We need a source making the correct name explicitly clear. Andy Mabbett (Pigsonthewing); Talk to Andy; Andy's edits 18:41, 17 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
My sources: Her article which appeared in the magazine, "The Second Wave" and her signature on a release form for permission related to my book as well as a note from her to me. I just sent the PDF to you.
Hope this is adequate.
Also, I added as an external source the fact that the article, "An Argument for Black Women's Liberation as a Revolutionary Force" is also available in my book, "Inside the Second Wave of Feminism." Is this okay?
Thanks Andy. Liberationfemale (talk) 14:47, 19 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Were my sources for Maryanne Weathers adequate? Can the change be made or do I need to do something else?
Thanks. Liberationfemale (talk) 14:43, 23 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
We can't use primary or unpublished sources, like a release form or the note. Please can you give full details of the article (date title, page number etc)? I have not received a PDF, nor can I see any edits by you to this or any other article; only talk pages. Andy Mabbett (Pigsonthewing); Talk to Andy; Andy's edits 16:12, 24 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
The article, "Black Women and Abortion," by Maryanne Weathers appeared in "The Second Wave," a magazine of the new feminism, Vol.1 No.2, Summer 1871, page 5.
I will work on figuring out my edits.

Thank you. For now, I've added "Maryanne" as an "also known as", since that's what the citation verifies. Our difficulty arises in proving that that is what she was usually known as. I have also made Maryanne Weathers redirect to this article, which will assist anyone searching for her by that name. Thank you very much. Liberationfemale (talk) 13:29, 26 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
