Proposed merger
[edit]- Merge There are no separate pages for individual Fox Sports Net or even Comcast Sports Net articles. Info on national FSN programming is on the main FSN page, and the local aspects are on the MSG Network page. Milchama 18:59, 27 December 2006 (UTC)
- Oppose & Flesh-out There are actually separate pages for more than half the FSN properties (Detroit, Florida, New York, North, Northwest, Ohio, Pittsburgh, South, West/Prime Ticket, Sun Sports and SportSouth. If anything, the remaining FSN and CSN sites should be beefed up as separate individual networks. --Mhking 19:50, 27 December 2006 (UTC)
- Oppose We should move all FSN New York-specific information to its page, such as the personalities and programming not related to MSG. I do think the introduction to FSN New York should be cleaned up, not with all those area code "XXX" listings. bmitchelf•T•F 00:48, 28 December 2006 (UTC)
- OK, you have spoken. I have been working of tightening the article, and renamed it to its correct name Fox Sports Net New York. Milchama 12:25, 29 December 2006 (UTC)
Check the Red Bulls section of the MSG Network website...
[edit]I have updated FSN New York article. According to MSG's website, a news reported that MSG will continue airing the Red Bulls games as a part of a new contract made today, March 21, 2007. However, I am the author of the FSN New York article and NOT MSG Network article, so I need someone to update this article. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Takuma Ishizeki (talk • contribs) 22:21, 21 March 2007 (UTC).
- Ya know, I don't think it would be that hard for you to update this article, as well. It probably took more effort to ask someone else to do it! But now it's done. bmitchelf•T•F 23:33, 21 March 2007 (UTC)
One of the section needs to be updated
[edit]From what I saw yesterday, Hockey Night in New York Live! had changed to MSG Hockey Night Live!, and is also shown as pre- and post-game show and intermission report (including games on FSN New York). I have no knowledge of that show, and what I can do is to correct the name, and that is all. If anyone can help, please help. Takuma Ishizeki 19:45, 5 October 2007 (UTC)
Fair use rationale for Image:Madison Square Garden Network HD logo 2006.png
[edit]Image:Madison Square Garden Network HD logo 2006.png is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. MSG Network is getting a redo
[edit]This page has seen better days. I am taking on MSG Network like I did with PRISM, giving it a general facelift and restructuring.
I am getting old MSG logos from YouTube - from 1984 and the early 90s - for use on the article. PRISM is getting images too.
At the end of it all, the page will be moved to MSG (regional sports network) because of the removal of MSG from the official branding.
The page will be mirrored on one of my sandboxes using subst:+:+article name technology as a template. It's unique technology. Raymie Humbert (TrackerTV) (receiver, archives) 05:43, 27 June 2008 (UTC)
New York Red Bulls on MSG Radio Network?
[edit]I have never heard and can't find anything that substantiates the claim that the Red Bulls telecasts are simulcasted as part of the MSG Radio Network. I personally will hold off on making a change, because I think someone could come up and find sourcing that might prove that. Furthermore, I can never recall WEPN or any of its known overflow stations carrying the games. This potential error also carries over to the WEPN and WRKS pages, as well as (I believe) the WQEW page. I live in this market and I have never heard any broadcaster on radio carry the Red Bulls (by simulcast or separate production) in English. My memory does confirm the Spanish part of that information. As far as I know, the Red Bulls Spanish broadcast is produced for radio (now on WLIB, as per the News section of this article) and simulcasted on MSG Network, although a quick glance of MSG Network on my provider reveals no Spanish language option on either the HD or SD feeds, so it is likely that MSG no longer simulcasts the Spanish broadcast via SAP. Furthermore, as of this season (2011 - 2012), the Knicks Spanish language broadcast often aired on MSG 2. 69.115.71.183 (talk) 04:08, 6 May 2012 (UTC)
Spun Off From Madison Square Garden Cos. and Proposal to Move to MSG Networks
[edit]For everyone's information according to MSG Networks filings with the United States Securities and Exchange Commission as of September 2015 The Madison Square Garden Company which includes the MSG Networks has been spun off from the Madison Square Garden arena/entertainment facility and renamed Madison Square Networks and is now publicly traded on the New York Stock Exchange under the ticker symbol MSGN. The arena/entertainment complex was spun off into a new company which took on the old corporate name The Madison Square Garden Companies which is publicly traded under the ticker symbol MSG. Obviously the two companies are no longer directly related and in fact MSG Networks has moved their headquarters and studios out of the Madison Square Garden complex and across the street to 11 Penn Plaza. Therefore I'd like to propose that this article be moved from MSG (TV channel) to MSG Networks and that a corporate InfoBox be used. YborCityJohn (talk) 03:09, 23 October 2015 (UTC)

WWWF/WWF/WWE on MSG Network 1970s-2006
[edit]The article contains the following line "In 2006, MSG underwent an extensive rebrand ... Since the rebrand, the channel has incorporated more entertainment-oriented programming, including ... professional ... wrestling cards that have taken place at Madison Square Garden..."
In point of fact, WWWF/WWF/WWE shows at MSG were regularly screened on MSG Network long before 2006 - going back to the 1970s in fact. Indeed, there are numerous examples of full length telecasts from the 70s/80s/90s posted to Youtube.
I've put in a line about "Full length broadcasts of Madison Square Garden WWWF/WWF wrestling shows had already been previously screened by the MSG Network since the 1970s." but I hope someone else can do a better job and put in a fuller history including more precise dates of when these transmissions commenced and other related programming details. 81.158.134.87 (talk) 17:29, 20 January 2018 (UTC)
Requested move 24 April 2018
[edit]- The following is a closed discussion of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. Editors desiring to contest the closing decision should consider a move review. No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the move request was: moved as requested per the discussion below. Dekimasuよ! 18:56, 30 April 2018 (UTC)
MSG (TV network) → MSG Network – It seemed the page was moved several years ago. I am proposing moving it back, the name of the official name of the network is still the MSG Network even though it is often referred to as only MSG on-air. The corporate website and press releases still refer to it as the "MSG Network" [1] [2] Another similar pages would be USA Network (referred to only as USA) Rusf10 (talk) 03:38, 24 April 2018 (UTC)
- Support move. Though it's hard to determine the common name in such a situation, I believe that this move can be justified as natural disambiguation. ONR (talk) 22:07, 24 April 2018 (UTC)
- The above discussion is preserved as an archive of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on this talk page or in a move review. No further edits should be made to this section.
Proposed merge of MSG, NY into MSG Network

Chautauqua County blackouts?
[edit]Hi, I was browsing this article and noticed this section about broadcasting in upstate NY:
"However, Knicks games are broadcast on a temporary alternate channel when there is a conflict with the Sabres – except in Chautauqua County, part of which is within 100 miles (160 km) of Cleveland, in the market area of the Cleveland Cavaliers, which broadcast rights with Bally Sports Ohio (as per NBA rules, only games from that team are receivable in that area). "
This came as a surprise to me since I live in Chautauqua County and watch the Knicks on MSG quite regularly. All local cable, satellite, and streaming TV services that carry MSG freely broadcast Knicks games without issue. What is the source for this claim? UpstateDontHate (talk) 11:35, 1 August 2021 (UTC)
- I removed the whole section. It is unsourced. The information is either outdated or just wrong.--Rusf10 (talk) 19:35, 1 August 2021 (UTC)
TVGN/Pop as alternate feed?
[edit]Is it true that cable providers used TVGN (now known as Pop) as an alternate feed for MSG-produced telecasts? 100.7.36.213 (talk) 12:58, 27 March 2022 (UTC)
To clarify, I got that from this paragraph in the Alternate Channels section, which I made a minor edit to last Thursday:
"In the cases of MSG2 and MSG Plus 2, the alternate channels vary. Many cable providers use Pop to carry the overflow/alternate feed, while satellite providers use an alternate channel. In some cases, these channels are not available outside the New York City area; however, they are offered by DirecTV, Dish Network and Comcast. In order to help alleviate confusion, MSG directs viewers to a special website."
Hope that helps. 100.7.36.213 (talk) 14:09, 28 March 2022 (UTC)
