Columns?

[edit]

Do you think we should have each setion in columns like the new articles section on the main WP:WPEE page? -Trampikey(talk)(contribs) 18:06, 3 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Yes I think that would look better Gungadin 19:24, 3 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Looks good! Now we only have to add the rest of the crew from here! -Trampikey(talk)(contribs) 19:36, 3 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Hey good job! I didn't think to look on imdb... — AnemoneProjectors (talk) 20:55, 3 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
This looks really good guys, much better than the category pages from before. It was a good idea to change the cats to this. Gungadin 23:15, 3 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I like it! -Trampikey(talk)(contribs) 23:39, 3 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
FUCK ME THIS IS HUGE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This is such an important article, I can't believe we didn't think of it before!!!! — AnemoneProjectors (talk) 01:38, 4 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Producers

[edit]

A report in The Sun claims that Diederick Santer has axed six producers... a) do we believe it and b) who would they be? — AnemoneProjectors (zomg!) 22:40, 16 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Verifiability

[edit]

This article is ridiculous. It is almost entirely unreferenced and, for example, is it really notable that Dot Wilkie is apparently a third assistant director? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 92.9.169.231 (talk) 23:22, 11 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Helen Greaves

[edit]

She was EP for a year with Leonard Lewis, until he took over fully. See History of EastEnders —Preceding unsigned comment added by 173.33.132.13 (talk) 20:03, 5 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks, I checked Lewis's article at the time and it says she was a producer, not necessarily an executive producer. –anemoneprojectors20:21, 5 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
at the time Leonard Lewis and Greves co-produced, I dont think either were credited as exec producer at that time. Lewis only became exec title once Greaves left. But essentially it was the same job. Additionally, Mike Gibbon was never titled exec producer. He was given a title like Head producer, but he ran the show and again it was the same job as any exec producer would have done, so not to list him in some sort of boss sense would be a bit misleading. Barbara Emile was never given title as Exec producer either, and I dont think Jane Harris had that title either; they were Series Producer. Again, same job. I think Julia Smith was never officially exec producer either, she was series producer, and this meant that as well as overseeing the show, she produced her own episodes, which I dont think exec producers do, but not sure.
The article is missing two of the show's bosses which are Ian Aldwinkle and Mike Hudson, who ran the show sometime in the late 90s. Neither had exec producer title as far as I know.GunGagdinMoan 21:40, 5 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Oh right, well hmmm I guess it's a bit confusing if we moved them out of the exec producer section, maybe we could add something like "Mike Gibbon (1988–89 as head producer)", I dunno. Lorraine Newman is the current series producer, so I dunno what she does that Kirkwood doesn't do. –anemoneprojectors21:52, 5 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Yes that would work, or maybe a separate section with a little prose and a list with titles, that way you dont have to keep those who never had the title under the titles? Not sure what you'd call it though "Boss of EE" or something? It would need to say that at varying points there have been numerous people in overall charge of production of EE. Their job titles were not always the same, for example some were given the title Series Pro, some exec pro, and some just pro, yet there job was essentially the same. Additionally, in some instances the show had co-producers at the helm, such as in 1992 Greaves and Lewis and 1997 with Aldwinckle and Hudson. I think Hudson's title was Series producer btw. Not sure about Aldwinkle, have a feeling he was just producer. It's confusing.GunGagdinMoan 22:04, 5 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Current production team

[edit]

The table says it's currently crew members from 2017, but if we remove everyone and start again in 2018 that would seem misleading. I suggest that names that change between episodes are removed when they haven't appeared for a year, mainly writers and directors. Here's a list:

We could update this list instead of leaving notes in the article to keep an eye on it, to keep the article's edit history low. — ᴀnemoneᴘroᴊecтors 10:19, 18 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]

This needs someone to keep an eye on the script editors and production managers. — ᴀnemoneᴘroᴊecтors 21:24, 20 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

As an editor is updating this regularly and appears to have their own record, I am stopping updating this. However, names other than directors and writers should still be checked every episode as well. — ᴀnemoneᴘroᴊecтors 16:17, 9 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]
The other names don't really need to be checked now, but the other editor seems to have given up editing this page so I will continue to update this. — 🌼📽️AnemoneProjectors💬 16:25, 27 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Cutting this down

[edit]

I reckon there are lots of sections here that we could get rid of. I would suggest only keeping the more important jobs and therefore maybe getting rid of these sections:

  • Casting
  • Electrical department
  • Digital team
  • Graphic Co-ordinator
  • Supervising art directors
  • Runners
  • Scheduling
  • Sound
  • Stunts
  • Visual effects assistants

And also, possibly some subsections of:

  • Post production
  • Production managers

Any thoughts on this? — ᴀnemoneᴘroᴊecтors 10:51, 20 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

@Soaper1234, JuneGloom07, Kelvin 101, Raintheone, 5 albert square, and HappyMan97: just thought I'd ping a few soapy people to get some opinions :-) — ᴀnemoneᴘroᴊecтors 12:33, 25 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

My main reason for this is that it seems to be the only list on Wikipedia of its type. There are lists of writers, directors and producers, and there are a few lists of crew for some shows but none of them go this deep - they just have the main people. — ᴀnemoneᴘroᴊecтors 12:36, 25 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I think it could be cut down enough to merge with the main EastEnders article, only really need directors/writers and executive producers. Thanks Kelvin 101 (talk) 13:16, 25 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]
@Kelvin 101: I wouldn't recommend merging this with anything because it's a standalone list and it would still be too long. These kinds of lists are always separate (see Category:Lists of television people). But I just think it should be the main people. Just the directors, writers and producers is a fine option. The assistant directors would be removed and I'd be fine seeing the whole post production and production managers sections go as well as storyliners and anything else I didn't mention. The current production team, however, could stay as it is. If we were to keep more than just the top producers, then we could follow what List of Doctor Who producers has. — ᴀnemoneᴘroᴊecтors 18:52, 25 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]
See User:AnemoneProjectors/Crew. — ᴀnemoneᴘroᴊecтors 19:06, 25 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]
@AnemoneProjectors: I understand why you may want to cut this down, but if the extra crew members are removed, could they be added to a WP:EE list (like the births, marriages and deaths list) so we don't lose them? If that was to happen, I'd support a move to having producers, writers and directors included in this list. Or even separating the list into a list of writers, a list of directors and a list of producers? Just throwing some ideas out there. Soaper1234 - talk 19:26, 25 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]
I quite like your draft too. Soaper1234 - talk 19:29, 25 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]
@Soaper1234: Yes we could keep the rest in a draft. I'm keeping a record of the 1985 and 1986 crew, literally every name credited, but I haven't done anything for 2018 and I know this list is well out of date. Keeping it to those few names would make it a more complete list. We could have three separate lists if we were to expand them into tables with first and last dates, for example. — ᴀnemoneᴘroᴊecтors 19:34, 25 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]
@AnemoneProjectors: That's brilliant - I'd support this. Soaper1234 - talk 19:54, 25 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]
@Soaper1234: I'm going to work on it at User:AnemoneProjectors/Crew2. — ᴀnemoneᴘroᴊecтors 20:00, 25 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]
I really like what you've done at that draft. - JuneGloom07 Talk 20:11, 25 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks. @Kelvin 101: You did some research here: User:Kelvin 101/EastEnders Executive Producers. As I think we should list the producers as they are credited, you help would be appreciated as I notice you've put some as producer, some as executive producer, some as series producer and also you mentioned associate producer, so knowing exactly how everyone was credited would be really helpful. Thanks! — ᴀnemoneᴘroᴊecтors 20:19, 25 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

A question to everyone - what do we do with the current team if this is split into three lists (as I have now drafted)? As the producer list isn't ready (and could take some time), I think we should just cut this down for now until that is ready (meaning the current team can be kept). @Soaper1234: about your suggestion to keep the removed names as a WikiProject page - do you suggest we keep that updated as well? The reason I ask is that I've checked the credits from 9 recent episodes and found that only a handful of them are already listed here. And for example, in those 9 episodes, 12 different production co-ordinators were credited. Imagine how many there have actually been in the last 33+ years! I don't think anyone should be studying the credits to this degree. Also, this list was originally created from IMDb and I already found errors in the writers and directors. I don't see a lot of benefit in keeping the removed names, but they'd always be available in the page history. — ᴀnemoneᴘroᴊecтors 19:50, 5 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I've gone ahead and cut this down to just current team, writers, directors and producers, and saved a backup of the rest to Wikipedia:WikiProject EastEnders/Crew. — anemoneprojectors 18:09, 12 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]
