[edit]Adding new information on LC Hello fellow Wikipedians, I follow Lauren Conrad on Instagram, and she has recently made several large charitable contributions. Her website shows that she has donated (2012) to Habitat for Humanity, and promotes bracelets made by artisans in Costa Rica (2012). I found this information on her website. Currently, Conrad has co-founded an online shop that sells crafts (jewelry, ceramics, etc.) made by and designed to support female artisans. I propose that a subsection be formed to address Conrad's charitable works. I would also like to add some more information about her clothing line (Paper Crowns) because it is not addressed in detail in the article. I will include MLA citations below for the sources I'm using to support my claims.
I would like to add this information underneath the "2013 to present..." subsection. This subsection could be reorganized into: romantic life, filmography, business/entrepreneurial/fashion(?), and charity/donation. I will create a better outline and post the link to my sandbox later, to show exactly what I have in mind for the reorganization.
Any input and advice would be fantastic and much appreciated!

Lauren Conrad: Philosophy and Philanthropy
[edit]Lauren Conrad: Philosophy and Philanthropic Works
In 2011, Lauren Conrad created a video for the Valspar Color Project, which pledged to donate $1 to Habitat for Humanity for every Valspar Color video shared through their Facebook.[1] The actor has also supported charities such as Soles4Souls, Avon Foundation, Clothes Off Our Back, Feeding America, Keep America Beautiful, and The Art of Elysium.[2]
Blue Avocado
Conrad has recently partnered with Blue Avocado to support sustainable lifestyles through ecologically friendly clothing. Conrad’s clothing produced with Blue Avocado is made of recycled plastic bottles, and each item tells the buyer the number of plastic bottles they have helped recycle. The actor’s Blue Avocado line focuses primarily on accessories and bags.[3]
Little Market
Conrad told Brie Schwartz in an interview for Redbook that she has been inspired by the strength of the women she has worked with in the past few years[4]. Conrad stated, “[the women] were strong, but they were kind and they didn’t need to shout to be heard.”[5] The Little Market is an online market Conrad and Skvarla founded which benefits the women artisans who produce the goods sold. Little Market is designed to support the development of a stable economy in underdeveloped regions. Conrad and Skvarla find women artisans through recommendation by other artisans, or direct contact. The two then enable the women artisans to market their products to a global rather than local scale. As the individual artisans earn revenue, they are able to hire other artisans to produce more product, growing themselves as a business. Conrad says this is how she measures the success of the project. Some of the women who benefit from the Little Market are disabled and victims of sexual abuse, including sex-trafficking.[6]
to be added under Conrad's fashion/book subsection
Conrad founded her latest clothing line, Paper Crown, in 2011. Unlike her Lauren Conrad for Kohl’s collection, Paper Crown clothing is meant to be sold primarily in boutiques, and is pricier.[7] The actor describes Paper Crown as more of a “passion project” than career move.[8][9] Conrad says her latest line will give her “an opportunity to make beautiful clothing on [her] own financial and creative terms.”Cite error: The <ref>
tag name cannot be a simple integer (see the help page). Conrad and business partner, Maura McManus, designed Paper Crown under the merchant business model, after reviewing their options. While adept at handling the business aspects of owning a clothing line, Conrad said she preferred the creative aspects of Paper Crown.[10]
ADDITIONALLY
I would like to reorganize the books and apparel section of Conrad's page, and add more information about her clothing line, Paper Crowns. I propose that the section "2009...books and fashion lines" be combined with the section "2013-present...". The new section could be titled "2009 to present" and have subsections for books and fashion lines, romantic life, and philosophy and philanthropy.
- Hello sdowd14! I’ve looked over your proposed edits outlined in your previous post to this talk page and I believe you have a reasonably good start; however, I thought I’d comment and make a few suggestions for you to consider moving forward for your project. You mentioned that you wanted to reorganize and add more information to the “2013 to present” section, which currently does not contain much information. I think this reorganization would help improve this page. Your proposed topics were romantic life, filmography, business/entrepreneurial/fashion, and charity/donation. In able to make a more meaningful addition to the page, I think it would be helpful to consider narrowing your focus to maybe two of the previously mentioned sections, depending on the amount of information you are able to collect. For example, I think your idea to discuss her contributions to charity and her relatively recent clothing line are good because you seem to have plenty of information to work with regarding these topics from reliable sources and these topics would spark interest among readers. However, if you have more information collected for some of the other topics, you may consider having those as your main focus. I hope this helps a little bit, and if you have any more questions, feel free to comment! Kmccamy14 (talk) 03:25, 6 November 2015 (UTC)
- You also need to remember that this an encyclopedia - just a summary, and written in a neutral tone. See WP:NPOV. Edwardx (talk) 18:07, 6 November 2015 (UTC)
- Hi Kmccamy14! Thanks for the suggestions. I will definitely use them when I am finalizing the wiki page editing. I think your suggested additions will make my additions more meaningful, and I appreciate your comments!
- Hi Edwardx! Thank you for the advice, I will definitely keep that in mind! Also, I apologize for the late response. Your feedback was useful and was appreciated.
- Hi sdowd14! Your contributions to Lauren Conrad's page look meaningful, lengthy, and sufficient to garner a new section or sub-section. That the sources you propose rely heavily on Lauren Conrad herself is a plus, as they draw directly from the person you're writing about. My only suggestion would be to include an introduction to the section you're proposing so that Wikipedia readers can have a sense of what your intentions of providing information are.

- Hi Epcb15! I will definitely add a small introduction to my additions. I think you're right; the intro would make the edit less confusing and more informative. Thank you!
