Reception positive or negative?

[edit]

There seems to be some disagreement on whether this has been well received or not.

Some good reviews are as follows:

"The Guardian" "The Mirror" "The Metro" & "The Metro again" "The Independent" "The Arts Desk" "Holy Moly" "Mouth London" "The Radio Times"

And bad reviews are as follows:

"The Telegraph" "The New Statesman" "What Culture" "Times Higher Education" "redbrickpaper"

I'm sure there are others. Can anyone add to these so that a proper assessment of the show's reception can be made. Arthur Holland (talk) 13:25, 14 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Now that all the reviews are in for the first series I've rewritten that section and taken out the bulk of the two long quotes from the Telegraph and Guardian that were there, as I felt they were taking up a lot of space whilst not really saying much useful about the programme. I think it's fair to state that the reviews generally became more positive as the series went on (using the 'press clippings' page for the show on the British Comedy Guide as a review aggregator) so I've put that alongside mentioning the initially mixed reviews. - 2.28.103.16 (talk) 01:06, 22 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Plot "summaries"

[edit]

The plot summaries are rather long, especially seeing as the template titles that section "ShortSummary". Surely the entire plot doesn't need to be explained in full detail? Can someone trim it down slightly? Feudonym (talk) 01:11, 10 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I agree. Unfortunately, some people's enthusiasm for various TV series can manifest itself in this way. We really only need a headline summary similar to the sort that appears in listings magazines, not a full story outline for every episode. Nick Cooper (talk) 12:17, 11 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I agree too, the 'summaries' are far too long, and full of spoilers. However, people do seem to have put a lot of effort into them, so rather than trying to whittle the summaries down further or replace them with the official episode synopses, I think the best solution would be to put the episodes on their own page, especially seeing how the show will have at least another series and the summaries are already taking up so much space on the main page. I can't seem to create an episode page myself - every time I try and copy the episode table onto a new page it completely removes the episode descriptions - could someone else have a go at creating a new page for the episodes? Lemondifficult (talk) 19:56, 2 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I have edited the Episodes List page here. It originally redirected to this article, but I have copied and pasted the episodes list, and the descriptions are up there too. FM4Life (talk) 11:34, 28 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Sabine/Candice

[edit]

These characters are arguably main characters (particularly Candice who appears in every episode of series 3) and should be moved out of the 'recurring' section? Crookesmoor (talk) 15:58, 17 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Based on Manchester Met? Probably not.

[edit]

Suggest based on Manchester Uni where both of the writers went. Some scenes are filmed at Manchester Met though. 146.199.23.148 (talk) 17:06, 21 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
