Translation of sources

[edit]

Hello, I see that someone removed some of the translations I added to the references. Should we stick to having them as not everyone can understand the non-English parts of the text? Abnormalcy333 (talk) 10:23, 2 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Israeli delegation harassing the Dutch performer

[edit]

According to a BBC article, "Other participants, including the Dutch team, accused the Israeli delegation of filming them and posting clips online without their permission." - which contravenes EU law about filming people without permission. Previously it had been reported that Klein had reacted to someone filming him despite asking them to stop. Therefore, it seems Klein's disqualification was because the Israeli delegation were harassing him (and others). The situation makes Klein look like the bad person here, due to the wording that he made an unlawful gesture, when it appears he was being harassed and reacted to that. https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/ckkekk1nl0ro?fbclid=IwZXh0bgNhZW0CMTEAAR3jIKDl9CNCI962PDLhSrFGLjpVEaATUkq9PZnzf9qZlDD-h9FhfYBotyQ_aem_AdK-sZvOdlcI44Ty6mEFFx_Q-S2fJ1mmx_7uuKTST0IZVv80TRAIjxtmkDo1TXUw9IMnnUQ57jvneScZo7dYj0sR 2A02:8309:2183:7800:BDD2:8AC3:98B9:2DEC (talk) 09:49, 17 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Reviewing the article! 🍗TheNuggeteer🍗 11:22, 13 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

The other half of the review:
  • You can add the seven judges (internal selection) in an AVOTROS source (I forgot which out of the two, meant to tell you yesterday).
  • You should add a note stating that Gover Meit is also Donny Ronny.
  • You also should mention that DJ Paul Elstak contributed to the song in source 41 (Linked revision)
Not done. Elstak is mentioned in the "Background and composition" section. Don't see a need to do it twice. Cheers, mate! Nascar9919 (he/him • tc) 18:06, 14 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
  • You can also mention the "Douze points" from source 45 (Linked rev) if you want.
  • You need to mention that sources 48, 60, and 63 (linked rev) needs a subscription.
  • You need to mention that the 182 points that the song won was from televote.
  • You can add the interview mentioned in source 52 (linked rev)
  • Mention the zero-tolerance policy and a bit of a storyline of the incident in source 55 (linked rev)
  • Give more info on the song "Joost".
Thats it! Everything else is finished! Have a great day! 🍗TheNuggeteer🍗 06:28, 14 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@TheNuggeteer: Happy to hear! Just got done with my edits. Let me know if I need to fix up anything else. Have a great day :) Cheers, mate! Nascar9919 (he/him • tc) 18:07, 14 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Here are my comments: Reference-related comments are from this revision.

  • Make gabber a quote, since the supposed genre was stated in a source.
  • I think Arjen Lubach should be specified as host of the show.
  • Add UTC time for CET.
  • I think that after "a personal friend of Klein", the comma should be a dot instead, and the next word will be capitalized.
  • I feel like you are missing a word in "Eurovision-related and other media"
  • You need to add more information on "Trouw".
  • The first iteration of ref 3 partly misses the sentence it was cited on.
  • Done. Let me know if you want it edited further.
  • Where did you get the "CET" from source 6? (First iteration)
  • Ref 11 (First iteration) does not mention the time, you can add source 6 to the sentence.
  • Ref 16 does not mention the date.
  • You could also add the ringtone and the sped-up version in promotion.
  • Cant find any mention of seven judges in ref 31, you can add ref 32.

Going to finish the other half tomorrow (Philippine time). Will put the article on hold. 🍗TheNuggeteer🍗 12:45, 13 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

General: Article is new enough and long enough
Policy: Article is sourced, neutral, and free of copyright problems
Hook: Hook has been verified by provided inline citation
QPQ: Done.

Overall: Hi User:Sekundenlang, well done on getting this article to WP:GA status. It all looks good to me. I prefer your first hook, which will be intriguing to readers. I couldn’t see exactly where in the BBC link you provided where exactly it confirms the statement. It is possible that the article has changed since you posted it? Perhaps you could bring an excerpt quotation. Thank you. Onceinawhile (talk) 17:35, 22 August 2024 (UTC) Found a Guardian link:[reply]

https://www.theguardian.com/tv-and-radio/article/2024/may/14/eurovision-organisers-defend-decision-to-disqualify-joost-klein "It was the first time in Eurovision’s 68-year history that a contestant has been disqualified after the start of the five-day event."

Also, the alternate hook was a reference to the last name-color name connection (Klein).

Excellent, thank you Sekundenlang. I have marked it as good to go.
PS - thanks for pointing out the Klein-Klein point - I hadn’t realized, too subtle for me. I think the first hook works very well. Onceinawhile (talk) 19:52, 22 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Sekundenlang I can't find where this hook is cited in the article, can you help? ~~ AirshipJungleman29 (talk) 13:14, 27 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
AirshipJungleman29 Added it. Used the link I posted here from The Guardian as source. - Sekundenlang (talk) 15:32, 27 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
