A wrong concept
[edit]I am very sorry, but the channel length modulation does not exist. Read carefully the paper by Yang and Schroder referenced [doi:10.1109/TED.2012.2195011]. However, I suspect that many fellow engineers and scientists will find it hard to accept this. In any case, anybody can repeat the simulations by Yang and Schroder and see on their own. Any comments appreciated. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Karolkalna (talk • contribs) 19:42, 5 March 2023 (UTC)
Need for rewrite
[edit]The description of transport in the channel was not accurate, and better left to other articles in any case. The importance of channel-length modulation was not discussed. There was no figure. Therefore, a rewrite seemed in order.Brews ohare 17:57, 13 November 2007 (UTC)
Fixed Equation for Lambda
[edit]Fixed it from 1/VE/L to deltaL/VE/L. Should there be some discussion about where the Early voltage (VE) comes from? Or maybe there is some bjt article that talks about it that can just be linked to... and it turns out there is! GermanJoey (talk) 14:45, 20 February 2008 (UTC)
Short Channel vs. Long Channel
[edit]Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think channel length modulation only occurs in long channel devices. Pinch-off never occurs in short-channel devices because the high electric field causes current saturation before pinch-off can ever occur, and eventually leads to breakdown if the drain potential is increased further. The difference between long-channel and short-channel behavior is not mentioned in this article. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 98.189.142.82 (talk) 02:01, 2 January 2011 (UTC)
