Reversions and edits by Jonteepierre

[edit]

Editor Jonteepierre has made various reverts, which I have questioned on his talk page. I am concerned by the possibility of his association to Ms Kirkwood - his edit record suggests that it is the majority of his edits here at wikipedia; and also the lack of notes either here on the talkpage or inside the article. Until this is resolved, I suggest that any information inserted/reverted is well referenced and noted in the edit summary. Rgds, --Trident13 (talk) 05:50, 3 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Is it accurate to call her a forecaster.

[edit]

Is it accurate to call her a forecaster, or is presenter more accurate. Forecaster implies that she makes the predictions, rather than just announce what others have predicted. The lead sentence says forecaster, but the rest of the article calls her a presenter.--Dmol (talk) 22:24, 12 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Carole makes claims to be a presenter and a forecaster accoring to her profile on http://www.bbc.co.uk/weather/bbcweather/forecasters/carolkirkwood_faq.shtml Chilkoot (talk) 22:52, 12 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

That link is dead. As is her 'personal website' given in the external links section. I'll delete that ext. link too. Anyone any objections? If so, feel free to revert. I also note that the 'mrcrip' source used as a reference leads back to wikipedia and is currently a domain name available for sale. Seems like carol is either trying to maintain a low profile, or is no longer of any interest to the general public. Oh dear.1812ahill (talk) 08:12, 26 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I'm going to remove the references to the 'mrcrip.com' website - which merely seems to be a site generating results from other search engines. Mrcrip.com simply links back to wikipedia and contains a link to a youtube video entitled something like 'Carol and her amazing breasts'. This is (ahem) not appropriate for wikipedia. Someone else can remove the unsourced statements if they want to - I don't know enough about her, or care enough to check their validity.1812ahill (talk) 08:28, 26 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]
This article is getting on my nerves now. Since when is a citation as meaningless as 'BBC profile' with no further information or link to said profile on the BBC website acceptable as a reference? Perhaps the person who provided that not so useful ref could improve it somewhat - lest 'the Agent';) delete the offending unsubstanciated statements.1812ahill (talk) 08:44, 26 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Revisions made by Agent

[edit]

The original page created here was not put up by anyone with any knowledge of or relation to Carol Kirkwood. The revisions to date have all been designed to correct inaccurate data and make the page relevant and accurate. All edits made by me here are accurate and at the entrant's request and have no hidden agenda to promote or misinform.

In trying to put the correct information online, the storm of protest that an agent/relative might know better than a complete stranger is really quite breathtaking. So called "facts" are presented here without reference and highly libellous content has also been added. If Wikipedia strives for accuracy, then surely content from those people who actually know the entrant is preferable to erroneous data from those that don't? Repeated attempts to correct the DOB have been re-inserted by those who think they know better. Sadly, it is now simpler to leave this data and other information out and so deprive users of an accurate and factually correct page. As will be seen above - "editors" cannot even spell the entrants name correctly. As for "Being up to my old tricks again" - believe me, I sincerely wish I did not have to monitor this page and that those who post erroneous data here were subject to as much scrutiny as I have been. Sadly unless it is monitored - for people in the public eye - the information presented here is treated as gospel by other publications and is not checked with the entrant.

Wikipedia has much to offer society - but a lot to learn about social behaviour. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Jonteepierre (talkcontribs) 04:42, 9 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Editing by Agent, JontyPierre

[edit]

I have dropped a note on JontyPierre's talk page re this article, who has noted on my talkpage his position as Ms Kirkwoods agent. Much as though some of the reverts he has made are reasonable under WP:Fact - experienced editors know about the "Wikipedia quoting other sites that quote Wikipedia" problems, that some less experienced editors might not; he has removed some points which are well referenced to established sources. The result over the period of time is a mix of both unsourced gossip and fact removal, resulting in a virtual and long term edit war on both issues, against both established editors and anon's. We need to solve this to establish both a stable and accurate article, in which I hope JontyPierre is part of the solution, within the rules of Wikipedia. Protection and DoB

[edit]

Why is this page under semi-protection and why is her DoB not allowed to be made public? Seems like her agent Jonteepierre as won in his single-handed censorship efforts. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.162.177.86 (talk) 22:24, 4 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

School

[edit]
"After an education that included a Catholic boarding school"

I thought she went to Lochaber High School? --jmb (talk) 11:21, 11 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

It's entirely possible she went to both, at different times, but this is conspicuously lacking a source -- as is her year of birth, and her religion. Earlier candidate sources for the DOB don't look at all usable. Smartiger (talk) 05:49, 12 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Journalist?

[edit]

My understanding is that Ms Kirkwood is NOT a journalist, and never has been, therefore the description on this page is inaccurate. Creativeheadstart

Correct. Neither is she a "Weather Forecaster". She has no Meteorological qualifications, and is therefore a "Weather Presenter". — Preceding unsigned comment added by 109.152.185.192 (talk) 05:27, 28 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Date of Birth

[edit]

This site consistently has Ms Kirkwood's DOB wrong. It is 1962 and always has been. The idea that it should be corrected to 1960 simply because a newspaper has published it is bizarre. All the newspapers have been doing is quoting from this site. Please do not change this again. (Jonteepierre (talk) 18:05, 13 April 2012 (UTC)) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Jonteepierre (talkcontribs) 18:01, 13 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Ironic comment given most of Wikipedia's information comes from stuff printed in newspapers. Wikipedia has articles on groups that don't even exist because of what is printed in newspapers. Carol Kirkwood is actually in her 60s, but because a newspaper hasn't printed it then it can't go in Wikipedia 81.155.208.167 (talk) 10:03, 24 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Looks like you've got it wrong on all counts. The argument is whether she's 52 (birthyear 1962), per someone purporting to be her agent, or 54 (birthyear 1960), per newspaper reports. WP has gone with her agent's assertion. No one has suggested that she's 60+. Bromley86 (talk) 12:16, 24 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

BTW, if Jonteepierre finds that this is an ongoing problem, it could be fixed by placing a basic bio on the agent page for Carol. Perhaps not ideal or desirable, for a number of reasons, but it would be a solution. Bromley86 (talk) 18:47, 24 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

University?

[edit]

Surely Carol attended Napier Technical College. Napier University was only a university after 1992. It is perfectly possible that Carol was a mature student and at the establishment after 1992, but if she wasn't she attended Napier Technical College. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Sonictortoise (talkcontribs) 06:47, 24 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Done (Although, per the WP article, it was Napier College of Commerce and Technology at the time.) Bromley86 (talk) 19:30, 24 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Formatting problem

[edit]

There's a ;; in the source where a '' should be; that's messing up both the link text, and is causing "italic spill" in the sentence that follows.

Related to this request... why on earth is this page semi-protected? 84.203.34.110 (talk) 05:36, 29 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Done - the page was protected by Brandon in April 2009 as the biographies of living persons policy kept being violated. Andie ▶Candy◀ 09:27, 29 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks, much obliged. Such a long period of semi-protections seems excessive, unless there's more to this than meets the eye in the history. I've filed an unprotection request; hopefully someone, with OTRS access if necessary, will review in due course. 84.203.34.110 (talk) 19:35, 29 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
