WikiProject COVID-19

[edit]

I've created WikiProject COVID-19 as a temporary or permanent WikiProject and invite editors to use this space for discussing ways to improve coverage of the ongoing 2019–20 coronavirus pandemic. Please bring your ideas to the project/talk page. Stay safe, --Another Believer (Talk) 17:27, 15 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Sources of news.

[edit]

Please note that Ro'ya TV is reporting incorrect numbers in some of their news updates and articles. In certain cases there are conflicts between the arabic and english versions of news articles. Even more shocking is the inconsistencies within the same article. I have attempted contacting them to correct these errors but to no avail. Please check their news and coroborate with other sources. Thank you for mentioning that, I'll try my best to check everything before i post it, and have a nice day:) Nobodyknowswhoiam15 (talk) 17:35, 1 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Active cases numbers

[edit]

There is a simple formula being used to determine active cases:

Active cases = Total number of cases - Recoveries - Deaths

The Ministry of Health is sometimes reporting recoveries as the number of recoveries for the day and sometimes as cumulative number of recoveries as a whole. On April 28th it was reported that 89 people were still being treated. On that day there were 449 total cases - 348 recoveries - 8 deaths leaving 93 active cases (a discrepancy of 4 cases). The next day those remaining under treatment were 77 whereas the calculation shows 87 (discrepancy of 10), the next day 66 vs 83 (discrepancy of 17). Today 9 May we are looking at 85 remaining in therapy/hospitalized vs 126 calculated active cases (a discrepancy of 41).

One thing I noticed was on 4 May the minister of health reported that one of the 4 cases discovered at the border was not allowed into the country nevertheless was counted among the total number of confirmed cases; this would cause issues with using the formula above in determining active cases. As such we should consider switching to using the number of cases in hospitals as active cases (please note that all cases in Jordan have to be treated at a designated hospital until released after tests confirming complete recovery, i.e. no active cases are allowed outside of these hospitals unless recovered).

This would affect the data to be displayed in the summary box, the overview chart, and the Template:COVID-19 pandemic data/Jordan medical cases chart

Editing to reflect long-term nature of vaccine

[edit]

I think the monthly system is no longer working as there haven't been many changes after the first initial several months. I think we could group March - May for example as "initial response", then have other headlines for different periods — Preceding unsigned comment added by Jananteeni (talkcontribs) 14:22, 1 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
