G11 "fail"

Why on earth does this article go on about the "failure" of the G11? That sounds like they never got it to work right. The rifle did function, and would have been introduced in the German armed forces, but for the end of the cold war. Or, "Peace broke out" as we say. The G11 "failed" to get sell to any interested buyers, failed to go into final production, and thus is seen as a failure.
