[edit]"Nevertheless, aristilochic acid cures wounds or snakebites in a spectacular way." This is a mysterious statement indeed. --Wetman 08:24, 24 Oct 2004 (UTC)
- Many websites treat this subject (search under Google for "aristolochic acid" + snakebite"
This treatment was known by the Ancients in the West (cfr. Theophrastus) and by the Native Americans.
'Of the 350 or so species of Aristolochia, several carry the common name of snakeroot because many of the species were used by Native Americans to treat snake bites. They also employed the plants to treat stomachaches, toothaches, and fevers.' [[1]]

Improved medical section needed
[edit]There is a lot of hearsay type stuff in the medical section. This plant has been abused as a diet herb, but there is no mention of it. Mba123 (talk) 03:38, 19 May 2009 (UTC)
