Time line

[edit]

I made a time line to make a better understanding of the lives of the Antennae Galaxies. — Hurricane Devon (Talk) 18:01, 16 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

We have a timeline paradox. Currently, we say, "600 million years ago, the Antennae passed through each other, looking like the Mice Galaxies. 300 million years ago, the Antennae's stars began to be released from both galaxies." However, pictures of the Mice clearly show stars being "released" (if that is even the accurate description). Which date is wrong? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Jmacwiki (talkcontribs) 18:25, 8 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Wow!

[edit]

I know Wikipedia is Not a Forum, but I would like to say that I've read about these galaxies. They are so cool! --TurtleShroom! :) (more research needed) 15:38, 6 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Starburst

[edit]

Weird, the page Starburst galaxy says that the antennae galaxies are creating stars very quickly. however, i don't see the word "starburst" anywhere in the article. since i don't know much about these galaxies, one of the articles must be edited. I have deleted some more potentially copied material. I hope this article is not still a close paraphrase, in which case it would still be a violation of copyright law. — Preceding unsigned comment added by The Quirky Kitty (talkcontribs) 07:32, 27 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Ground-based telescopic view of the Antennae Galaxies?

[edit]

Do we know it's a ground-based telescope that was used to take it? 94.173.154.109 (talk) 09:22, 28 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

No (clear) photo of the antennae??

[edit]

Do we really have NO source for a non-copyrighted wide-field image that shows why this system is called The Antennae? Jmacwiki (talk) 18:13, 8 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

A good example: https://apod.nasa.gov/apod/ap170428.html, but I am unsure how to insert here.
For that matter, the WP article on Alar Toomre has just such a picture, arguably showing the “antennae” more clearly than this article’s current one does (though not in color). Again, I am not sure how to insert here. Jmacwiki (talk) 05:10, 21 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
