Mechanism

[edit]

The citation for this line "Anakinra differs from native human IL-1Ra in that it has the addition of a single methionine residue at its amino terminus" has a tooltip that is malformed, and I don't know how to fix it. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Regarr (talkcontribs) 21:48, 3 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

kinneret x kineret

[edit]

Hello... according to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kineret the drug has two n's. Can someone please double-check? In this article's intro sentence it has only one n. -- leuce (talk) 11:06, 13 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

It has only one n. SteveD 7:31am 03-10-09 —Preceding unsigned comment added by 122.104.7.242 (talk) 21:31, 2 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Is it a DMARD

[edit]

I'm not sure about the statement that it isn't a DMARD. From my readings it seems that there can be overlap between DMARDs and BRMs. The fact that it is a BRM distinguishes it from older non-specific medications like methotrexate, leflunomide, sulfasalazine, etc but it is still a DMARD because it is antirheumatic and slows the progression of the disease. I believe the American College of Rheumatology guidelines just calls it a biologic DMARD. 192.138.67.36 (talk)

pediatric use

[edit]

Hey there! The article states that the pediatric use is contraindicated, but the prescribing information (http://www.kineretrx.com/fileadmin/user_upload/kineretus/documents/Kineret_Full_Prescribing_Information.pdf) states that it is indicated in NOMID (but not JRA) -> see section 8.4. I'm not sure how to add that information to the article.. Maybe a pharmacist here who can do that? mfg GierAffe — Preceding unsigned comment added by 62.2.176.4 (talk) 16:35, 9 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

what and when approved

[edit]

Article does not say when FDA/EU etc approved it and any subsequent approvals. Article reads like an advert and copy of the package insert. Needs more inline cites. - Rod57 (talk) 11:36, 27 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

UK NICE would not recommend in 2003

[edit]

Final Appraisal Determination - Anakinra for rheumatoid arthritis. 2003 says "... anakinra is not recommended for the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis, except in the context of a controlled, long-term clinical study. ". Should mention ? - Rod57 (talk) 12:15, 27 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Cost $4,000 a month

[edit]

Nothing in this entry yet on cost. This Washington Post story mentions that private insurance companies pay an average of $4,000 a month, but that figure may vary widely. I would rather look it up in Medical Letter, a MEDMOS peer-reviewed source.

I wrote about high-priced drugs for years. Then my toddler needed one.

As a health and science reporter, I’ve studied the maze of U.S. health care. But when my son got sick, I still got lost.

Citation style

[edit]

Hi @PamD:. I am a little confused by your like and revert. First established author style was in this edit. Note that subsequent to that edit, |authors= has been depreciated and replaced with |vauthors=. Also |vauthors= has been used consistently throughout this article. Boghog (talk) 19:19, 28 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@Boghog I didn't mean to revert and hadn't realised I had: the two links for "undo" and "thank" are dangerously near when editing on a small phone screen. It asks for confirmation before thanking, but apparently not for undoing. Poor design. It's a pity that the "vauthors" isn't what the automatic reference creator from doi generates, but of course I agree with consistent citation style. Sorry about that. PamD 20:05, 28 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I think it must have been "rollback", as "undo" opens an edit screen. Problems of mobile editing. Sorry. PamD 20:11, 28 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
No worries. I have accidentally done the same thing while using mobile. Cheers. Boghog (talk) 05:29, 29 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

EU licensing

[edit]

@Whywhenwhohow and Maxim Masiutin: The EU licence field was recently removed from the infobox, and I have tried to replace it, by adding | licence_EU = yes | INN_EMA =Kineret, after reading {{Infobox drug}}. But the link generated leads to a "page not found". The EU page exists at https://www.ema.europa.eu/en/medicines/human/EPAR/kineret. Why is the link not working, any ideas?

I almost never edit pharmaceutical articles, and medical articles only rarely, but I have a strong personal interest in this one (did my daily injection half an hour ago). PamD 08:24, 15 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
