MEMRI as a source

[edit]

I have put a reliable source tag next to the mention of MEMRI as the provider of a translation. MEMRI has a history of deliberate mistranslations intended to make Arabs and Muslims look as bad as possible. The Wikipedia article on MEMRI has more details on incidents of this sort. Times of Israel's problematic statement

[edit]

I'm removing "In 2014, he stated that Israelis "are an advanced instrument of evil ... I believe that God will gather them so we can kill them."" which is sourced to this Times of Israel article.

Time of Israel indeed says "A senior Fatah official said that God will assemble Jews to be killed by Palestinians, a Palestinian media watchdog reported Thursday." However, that's not what Zaki says on video. First, on video, he doesn't say "Israelis ...are an advanced instrument of evil", but rather "these Israelis are an advanced instrument of evil" in the context of talking about Netanyahu. He then concludes with "I believe that God will gather them so we can kill them." Not only is he not talking about Jews — at least he doesn't say the word Jews during the video — he seems to be talking about specific Israelis like Netanyahu.

Pinging last few people who edited the article: @Doug Weller:, @Nableezy:, @Iskandar323:.VR (Please ping on reply) 03:32, 10 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, he does say that. and I think we can quote correctly with the same source. Doug Weller talk 08:36, 10 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
