There are a number of letters between the Catawba and Lyttelton, Lyttelton and Dobbs, the Catawba and Dobbs, as well as the NC commissioners who visited the fort site in 1757. These letters can be found in the Colonial and State Records of NC, and the Lyttelton Papers in Clements Library. South Carolina did indeed meddle in the affairs. New information will be formally published soon.
  • 19:4619:46, 31 July 2024 diff hist +12 King Hagler→‎Catawba Fort: "rangers" is a term only ever used historically by Governor Dinwiddie of Virginia. They were in-fact soldiers who were enlisted to serve for a year at a time. They received uniforms and arms from the colony of North Carolina. Governor Dobbs, in all of his communications, describes the men as "soldiers" not "rangers."
