Sintrivani metro station (Greek: Σιντριβάνι, literally Fountain)[3] is a metro station serving Thessaloniki Metro's Line 1 and Line 2. It entered service in 2023.[4] The station is named after an Ottoman fountain, which marked the eastern entrance into the walled city before its expansion, and the Thessaloniki International Fair, whose grounds are immediately adjacent.
History
[edit]The station appeared in the 1988 Thessaloniki Metro proposal[broken anchor].[5] In previous iterations of the Thessaloniki Metro Development Plan, the station was shown with the alternative spelling Syntrivani (Greek: Συντριβάνι).[6]
During construction, the station was known as Sintrivani/Ekthesi (Greek: Σιντριβάνι/Έκθεση, literally Fountain/Exposition), with the latter being in reference to the Thessaloniki International Fair.[7]
