Salif Nogo (born 1 January 1986) is a Burkinabé-French former professional footballer who played as a centre back. Nogo started his career in Burkina Faso at US Ouagadougou, then in 2006 he arrived in Romania at Oțelul Galați, afterwards for the next 16 years he played in all the levels of the Romanian football, from Liga I to Liga IV, for teams from almost all the historical regions of the country.[1][2][3][4]
Club career

[edit]Salif Nogo was born on 1 January 1986 in Ouagadougou, starting to play senior level football in 2003 at local club, US Ouagadougou with whom he won the Coupe du Faso in 2005.[1][2]
Oțelul Galați
[edit]In 2006, the 20-year-old went to play for Oțelul Galați in the Romanian top-division Divizia A, making his debut in the league under the guidance of coach Petre Grigoraș on 11 March 2006 in a 3–0 away win over Dinamo București.[1][2][5] In the following season he appeared regularly for the team, scoring his first goal in the league when he opened the score in a 2–0 win over FC Vaslui.[1][2][6] In the 2007–08 season he scored the victory goal in the 2–1 win over Universitatea Cluj, also making his debut in European competitions, helping the club win the 2007 Intertoto Cup, eliminating Slavija Istočno Sarajevo and Trabzonspor in the campaign, qualifying to the UEFA Cup second round where they were defeated 3–1 on aggregate by Lokomotiv Sofia.[1][7][8][9][10][11]
Troyes
[edit]In 2008, Salif Nogo signed with French Ligue 2 club, Troyes but did not get to play for them, making appearances only for the team's satellite team in the fifth league.[1][2][12]
Return to Romania
[edit]In September 2009, he returned to Romania, signing with second league side, Jiul Petroșani.[1][2][13][14] In March 2010, Nogo returned to first league football, signing with Politehnica Iași.[1][2][15][16] For the 2010–11 season he went to play for Astra Ploiești where in the following season on 14 May 2012 he made his last top-division appearance in a 2–1 away victory against Ceahlăul Piatra Neamț which helped his side avoid relegation, Nogo having a total of 72 appearances with two goals scored in the competition.[1][2][17][18][19][20][21] Afterwards he went to play for various teams in the Romanian lower leagues until his retirement in 2022.[1][2][3][4]
International career
[edit]Salif Nogo played six games at international level for Burkina Faso, making his debut on 30 May 2004 under coach Ivica Todorov in a friendly with Libya which ended with a 3–2 victory.[2][22] He played in two losses with South Africa and Cape Verde at the 2006 World Cup qualifiers.[2] Nogo's last game for The Stallions took place on 17 November 2004 in a friendly which ended with a 4–0 away loss with in front of Morocco.[2]
Sports agent career
