Euryale akashiensis is a fossil species of Euryale from the Pliocene[2] of Akashi, Hyōgo, Japan.[1]

Description

The ovate,[2] 7–9 mm long,[2][3] and 6–8 mm wide seeds[2] have a gnarled testa.[4][2]

Taxonomy

It was first published as Euryale akashiensis Miki by Miki Shigeru in 1937.[4][1] It has been proposed to place it in a separate genus Pseudoeuryale P.I. Dorof. as Pseudoeuryale akashiensis (Miki) Doweld published by Alexander Borisovitch Doweld in 2022.[5][6] The lectotype was collected in Nakayagi-Yagi, Akashi City, Hyogo Prefecture, Japan.[5]

Distribution

It occurred in Japan.[1][7]
