Joby Stephens (born 1985 in London, England) is an acclaimed filmmaker renowned for his dynamic approach to storytelling and successful collaborations with notable industry figures. Stephens' career began with a notable debut in 2006 when he co-directed Project One, a short action film, with Adam Kirley, a stunt coordinator known for his work on films like Casino Royale, Kingsman: The Golden Circle, and Aladdin. The film quickly gained attention at US film festivals, setting the stage for Stephens' diverse and successful career in the film industry.

Stephens further broadened his directorial repertoire in 2009 with Skin Deep, a horror film that earned multiple awards and expanded his recognition across the industry. His extensive experience also includes roles such as handling publicity for Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides and assistant directing in major productions like Casino Royale and The Golden Compass.

In 2017, Stephens collaborated again with Adam Kirley on Rogue Trooper: The Quartz Massacre, a short action sci-fi film inspired by the 2000AD series character Rogue Trooper. The film was warmly received in Europe, securing festival awards and accolades from esteemed directors Edgar Wright and Duncan Jones.

His most ambitious project to date occurred between 2019 and 2022, when he took on the roles of main producer and first assistant director for Stuntnuts Does School Fight. This groundbreaking film was notable for being the first feature film shot using Apple Pro Res RAW and marked a significant milestone as "the most ambitious indie British film ever made." It also became the first British indie feature to be acquired by a major studio, MARV Films, before its festival premiere, and will serve as the third film in the Hit-Girl & Kick-Ass franchise.

Besides his work in feature films, Stephens has produced several compelling short documentaries that have garnered acclaim. He is the founder and director of Jam96, a prominent London-based film production company. Stephens continues to be a respected figure in the filmmaking world, consistently pushing the boundaries of creativity and innovation in each project he undertakes.
