Daeqwon R. Plowden (born August 29, 1998) is an American professional basketball player who last played for the Osceola Magic of the NBA G League. He played college basketball for the Bowling Green Falcons.
High school career
[edit]Plowden is a native of Germantown, Philadelphia, and attended Mastery Charter North School.[1] He was the school's first 1,000-point scorer and was a two-time all-state team selection.[1] Plowden played primarily as a forward and center in high school;[2] he credits his team's coaches, Terrence Cook and Gerald Johnson, for teaching him combined big man and guard skills.[3]
On November 9, 2016, Plowden signed his National Letter of Intent to play for the Bowling Green Falcons.[4] ESPN ranked him as the 20th best player in Pennsylvania in his recruiting class.[5]
College basketball
[edit]Plowden was named to the All-Mid-American Conference (MAC) second-team in 2020 and the third-team in 2021 and 2022.[6] He was selected to the MAC All-Defensive team in 2022.[6]
Plowden finished his career with the Falcons with 1,618 points and 935 rebounds.[6] He did not miss a game during his college career and is the program leader in games played with 154.[6]
Professional career
[edit]Birmingham Squadron (2022–2023)
[edit]Plowden worked out with the Washington Wizards, New Orleans Pelicans and Utah Jazz prior to the 2022 NBA draft but went undrafted.[7] He joined the Pelicans for the 2022 NBA Summer League and averaged 12 points per game.[1] On September 9, 2022, Plowden signed with the Pelicans,[8] but was waived on October 15.[9] On November 4, 2022, Plowden was named to the opening night roster for the Birmingham Squadron.[10]
Plowden joined the Oklahoma City Thunder for the 2023 NBA Summer League.[11]
Osceola Magic (2023–2024)
[edit]On September 7, 2023, Plowden's rights were traded to the Osceola Magic[12] and on October 18, he signed with the Orlando Magic.[13] However, he was waived on October 21[14] and on November 2, he joined Osceola.[15]
On July 16, 2024, Plowden signed a two-way contract with the Golden State Warriors,[16] but was waived on September 24.[17] Three days later, he signed with the Atlanta Hawks,[18] but was waived on October 18.[19]
