Why did you remove my external links?
If you've come here because you want to know why I removed some external links you've added, please read Wikipedia's policies on spam, Wikipedia external link guidelines and conflict-of-interest first. Because of Wikipedia's popularity, it has become a target for folks looking to promote their sites, which is against Wikipedia policies. If you read WP:SPAM and still feel that your link(s) does not violate those policies, let me know.
One common argument I hear is But so-and-so link is on that article, and it's commercial! WP:EL doesn't explicitly forbid In links to commercial sites; it depends on the notability of the link, its content, and if it's a reference or a notable pro/con argument on a controversial subject, etc. On the other hand, I think that many Wikipedians would agree that there are way too many commercial links at present time, so feel free to "prune away" if the link doesn't meet guidelines in WP:EL. Incidentally, if you've come here to complain that I've deleted links to your blog (especially a blog with advertising), don't bother. You'll have to find free advertising somewhere else. A good Google search will reveal plenty of places for that sort of thing.
Vandalism and insults left here will be recycled in the bit bucket. Remember: be nice!

Hi,
I was going through some of my older and more embarrasing contributions, and saw to my dismay I had an article deleted for G12 copyvio. Could you jog my memory of what the contents of that page was? If it's not suitable for public distribution, I have my email function enabled.

Speedy Deletion of Blake Paulson article
https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Blake_Paulson&action=edit&redlink=1
Anthony, I'm an editor with a keen interest in banking history. I'm curious why the Blake Paulson article was deleted. I see that copyright infringements were cited -- but the content came from a U.S. government website (Office of the Comptroller of the Currency.) Isn't there a fair use exemption? I cannot see the article (maybe I just don't know how to find it) but I suspect it could be improved and salvaged if there are not ENOUGH third-party sources. Administrators' newsletter – March 2021
News and updates for administrators from the past month (February 2021).
Interface administrator changes
- A request for comment is open that proposes a process for the community to revoke administrative permissions. This follows a 2019 RfC in favor of creating one such a policy.
- A request for comment is in progress to remove F7 (invalid fair-use claim) subcriterion a, which covers immediate deletion of non-free media with invalid fair-use tags.
- A request for comment seeks to grant page movers the
delete-redirect
userright, which allows moving a page over a single-revision redirect, regardless of that redirect's target. The full proposal is at Wikipedia:Page mover/delete-redirect. - A request for comment asks if sysops may
place the General sanctions/Coronavirus disease 2019 editnotice template on pages in scope that do not have page-specific sanctions
? - There is a discussion in progress concerning automatic protection of each day's featured article with Pending Changes protection.
- When blocking an IPv6 address with Twinkle, there is now a checkbox with the option to just block the /64 range. When doing so, you can still leave a block template on the initial, single IP address' talkpage.
- When protecting a page with Twinkle, you can now add a note if doing so was in response to a request at WP:RfPP, and even link to the specific revision.
- There have been a number of reported issues with Pending Changes. Most problems setting protection appear to have been resolved (phab:T273317) but other issues with autoaccepting edits persist (phab:T275322).
- By motion, the discretionary sanctions originally authorized under the GamerGate case are now authorized under a new Gender and sexuality case, with sanctions
authorized for all edits about, and all pages related to, any gender-related dispute or controversy and associated people.
Sanctions issued under GamerGate are now considered Gender and sexuality sanctions. - The Kurds and Kurdistan case was closed, authorizing standard discretionary sanctions for
the topics of Kurds and Kurdistan, broadly construed
.
- By motion, the discretionary sanctions originally authorized under the GamerGate case are now authorized under a new Gender and sexuality case, with sanctions
- Following the 2021 Steward Elections, the following editors have been appointed as stewards: AmandaNP, Operator873, Stanglavine, Teles, and Wiki13.

Hi, can you restore a page to my userspace?
It's an essay, Creating Wikipedia:Being blocked hurts, you deleted in 2017 (yes, I know)... Actually, I guess maybe you just deleted the redirect... it was an essay that I (wanted to) move into my userspace per a WP:RM, but it says I moved it to User:Being blocked hurts by mistake, which of course it's gone now...I do have a more-or-less copy in my Userspace, but if I'm reading it right the history is lost... but my understanding is history is never lost except for oversights?
I really only want the talk page pretty much... wanting to ref the RM thread for something. Hey if it's a hassle to do this, I'm good. It's nice-but-not necessary, just perhaps let me know (here) if you can't or won't, thanks. Herostratus (talk) 22:54, 26 May 2021 (UTC)
Oh, this Creating User:Being blocked hurts bears on it too... ugh did I mess up. Herostratus (talk) 22:59, 26 May 2021 (UTC)
- I have no objection to restoring the text to your userspace; the difficulty is that i cannot find it. There appears to me a thread involving at least one redirect, at least one move and a change in your username, which i cannot yet follow. I am little short of time now, but will get back to it ASAP. ----Anthony Bradbury"talk" 13:50, 27 May 2021 (UTC)
- Sure, but again, it's just really not important. Please don't spend more than a couple minutes on it, really. I never changed my username, no. It'd be interesting and maybe not great if moving a page to an illegal place has the effect of destroying the history. That'd be a bug. Herostratus (talk) 05:59, 29 May 2021 (UTC)

The highest ranking demons
The draft is The highest ranking demons.
- The problem is that your draft is non-factual. This is an encyclopedia: if you can provide good quality references for the statements you offer then we can reconsider.----Anthony Bradbury"talk" 11:58, 31 May 2021 (UTC)
Okay I can do just that, but it will take some time
Sorry for getting back to you so late.
My Article was the highest-ranking demon's right, and I did have these facts on it.
Most of what I talked about comes from the Holy Bible.
Lucifer like I said was top of the star, and the most powerful prince of hell right, and was one of the angels around God's throne, and was top and spirit before the fall, and also was the lion sin of pride right.
https://rightdivision.com/charts/alpha-omega/section-1/lucifer-anointed-cherub
https://www.pinterest.com/pin/175781191689785219/
there are too many facts to write on and talk about. On this talk page, I put all the facts in the citations where I got the information from.
You deleted Allison Enchelmayer
Do you now there's a News article about Allison Enchelmayer.Arek333 (talk) 18:32, 8 June 2021 (UTC)
That does not make her notable. THe only claim made in the article of encyclopedic notability is that she plays golf, which in my view is insufficient. ----Anthony Bradbury"talk" 18:40, 8 June 2021 (UTC)
actors
Is Kamil McFadden the actor significant.Arek333 (talk) 19:05, 8 June 2021 (UTC)
this is not a meaningful question. Wikipediaq articles are judged primarily on the article text; I do not see an article about him. I am aware that he is an actor who has acted parts in some Marvel films. ----Anthony Bradbury"talk" 19:12, 8 June 2021 (UTC)

- Wikimedia previously used the IRC network Freenode. However, due to changes over who controlled the network with reports of a forceful takeover by several ex-staff members, the Wikimedia IRC Group Contacts decided to move to the new Libera Chat network. It has been reported that Wikimedia related channels on Freenode have been forcibly taken over if they pointed members to Libera. There is a migration guide and Wikimedia discussions about this.
- After a Clarification request, the Arbitration Committee modified Remedy 5 of the Antisemitism in Poland case. This means sourcing expectations are a discretionary sanction instead of being present on all articles. It also details using the talk page or the Reliable Sources Noticeboard to discuss disputed sources.
This is confusing me. The creating editor battled long and hard to create this, via AFC, but has now requested deletion. This feels little like Wikipedia:Ownership of content. I wonder if you would take more than usual time to look at the background to this one, please?

- Slightly more confusing, the article is back (a good thing), but I suspect admin goggles may be needed to divine the reason. Are you able to shed any light on this please? FiddleTimtrent FaddleTalk to me 06:07, 17 June 2021 (UTC)

- I am beginning to see. I think it was moved to draft space by a vandal, leaving a redirect. I think you will then have deleted the redirect as "Leaving main space" and the redirect will have been created by the vandal and possibly blanked by them, or CSDd by them to cause this to take place.
- Later, the vandalism was undone, and the correct status quo was returned for this only just notable actor.
- That is my best guess. FiddleTimtrent FaddleTalk to me 12:16, 17 June 2021 (UTC)

U5/G11
I saw that you deleted User:Kittubindass's userpage shortly after I challenged User:Susmuffin's tag of it as U5 and G11. Based on timing, I'm guessing you'd already loaded the page before I untagged. This kind of thing isn't usually the sort of hill I care to die on, but, since I had already untagged, in this case I'd like to politely contest the deletion. I don't see why "[user] is a [profession] at [business]" on a userpage is exclusively promotional
, and I don't really see the case for U5 either. Respectfully -- Tamzin (she/they) | o toki tawa mi. 11:35, 18 June 2021 (UTC)
- You could perhaps make a case against a G11 deletion, although if you did I would argue against you; but there can surely be no doubt that U5 applies. This is a userpage, and falls well outside the userpage guidelines and policies. ----Anthony Bradbury"talk" 12:36, 18 June 2021 (UTC)
- Maybe I'm misunderstanding U5. Most of this user's contribs have been deleted, but the mainspace CSD notices on his talkpage suggest he's left U5's domain of
few or no edits outside of user pages
. And the content of the page wasn't that different than what I've seen on any number of established Wikipedians' pages. Third-person userpages in faux-encyclopedic style are common enough. So is saying where one works. If I put on my userpageTamzin, born $DOB, is an American writer and programmer. She is the founder and chief executive officer of $SomeCompany
, I really can't imagine someone arguing that that violates WP:UPNOT. That's essentially how the first section of User:Jimbo Wales reads, to pick the first example that comes to mind. - Judging from the talkpage, I don't doubt that this editor has had issues with COI, which is part of why I said this wouldn't normally be my hill to die on. But I don't see how the userpage itself is an issue, again unless I'm really misunderstanding U5. -- Tamzin (she/they) | o toki tawa mi. 17:09, 18 June 2021 (UTC)

- Consensus has been reached to delete all books in the book namespace. There was rough consensus that the deleted books should still be available on request at WP:REFUND even after the namespace is removed.
- An RfC is open to discuss the next steps following a trial which automatically applied pending changes to TFAs.
- IP addresses of unregistered users are to be hidden from everyone. There is a rough draft of how IP addresses may be shown to users who need to see them. This currently details allowing administrators, checkusers, stewards and those with a new usergroup to view the full IP address of unregistered users. Editors with at least 500 edits and an account over a year old will be able to see all but the end of the IP address in the proposal. The ability to see the IP addresses hidden behind the mask would be dependent on agreeing to not share the parts of the IP address they can see with those who do not have access to the same information. Accessing part of or the full IP address of a masked editor would also be logged. Comments on the draft are being welcomed at the talk page.
- The community authorised COVID-19 general sanctions have been superseded by the COVID-19 discretionary sanctions following a motion at a case request. Alerts given and sanctions placed under the community authorised general sanctions are now considered alerts for and sanctions under the new discretionary sanctions.
Hi, I noticed this user with a very bizarre edit history, where they copy a sportsman's article into their sandbox, and substitute what is presumably their name in for the sportsman's name. They've been doing this once a day for two years (!), with no mainspace edits save for two where they accidentally subbed the name into the real articles. Whatever their reasons for doing this, they are seemingly not here to build an encyclopedia, and admin action might be required. Their user talk page was also created by a sockpuppet, so that may play into things somehow as well. Regards, —Somnifuguist (talk) 21:59, 8 July 2021 (UTC)
- I found another user, User:Allenn13, with an identical pattern of behaviour (872 daily sandbox edits over 2 years, 0 in mainspace) and whose sandbox the above user linked in this diff. Almost certainly the same person. —Somnifuguist (talk) 20:27, 9 July 2021 (UTC)
- As the edits are exclusively to the editor sandbox, and therefore only the last one survives, these edits do not affect the encyclopedia. I have contacted the editor (or editors) via talkpage, without response as of now. ----Anthony Bradbury"talk" 11:20, 10 July 2021 (UTC)
- Ok, thanks. I just thought it was worth putting on an admin's radar, as it's the oddest thing I've seen on this site by some margin. —Somnifuguist (talk) 19:38, 10 July 2021 (UTC)

Deleting a page with a contested deletion without any discussion at all?!
You just deleted a perfectly valid article - Christian Emmanuel Sanon - that had a drive by CFD on it, which I wrote an objection to on the Talk page, and you just drive-by deleted it without even allowing discussion to occur! What is the point of having a link to contest the stupid CFD if you're just going to delete them without respecting the voices of people who _actually write articles_? I think every day Wikipedia dies a little bit more because of this kind of terrible moderation. Awful administration in my opinion. Miserlou (talk) 22:01, 14 July 2021 (UTC)

Reza Abbaszadeh
Hi, you deleted the page Reza Abbaszadeh under CSD A7 while the article was still at AfD and adequately supported from independent sources. Can you please tell me the reason so I can be more careful next time? Thanks. --Vertinagin (talk) 18:38, 13 August 2021 (UTC)
- An admin is not obliged to wait for an AfD to be determined if the article qualifies for a speedy deletion. I would concede that the rationale quoted by the original nominator is invalid, and I have notified him of this fact. Nevertheless, the article in my opinion qualifies for speedy deletion. I agree that references are quoted, but the unarguable fact of his existence is not of itself adequate to qualify as a person who has adequate claimed notability. But if you wish to appeal this decision feel free to do so. Go to deletion review to do this. ----Anthony Bradbury"talk" 21:45, 13 August 2021 (UTC)

- Yes. I restored it briefly just to check in full detail that my original decision was reasonable. It is difficult to assess references while an articles remains deleted. ----Anthony Bradbury"talk" 11:02, 14 August 2021 (UTC)

WikiProject Military history coordinator election voting has commenced
Hey y'all, voting for the 2021 Wikiproject Military history coordinator tranche is now open. This is a simple approval vote; only "support" votes should be made. Project members should vote for any candidates they support by 23:59 (UTC) on 28 September 2021. Voting will be conducted at the 2021 tranche page itself. Appropriate questions for the candidates can also be asked. Thanks, MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 04:38, 15 September 2021 (UTC)
Batch deletion
Hello, Anthony,
Batch deletion can be handy and I use it when I need to delete a number of pages that are being deleted for the same reason. Unfortunately, Twinkle puts the same generic CSD reason as the deletion rationale for all of the pages. This is a problem when deletions are the result of a deletion discussion because Twinkle doesn't include a link to the specific AFD or TFD discussion where it was decided to delete the page. In these cases, I think you need to take the time to delete the pages individually. Just offering an opinion as an admin who has made this mistake before! Thanks! Liz Read! বার্নাড ৰীমান
Please could you undelete বার্নাড ৰীমান so that it can be transwikied to bn.wp (which it can be). I'm not sure why you speedy deleted it given that I removed the A10 nomination twice, explaining both times why it should not be speedily deleted. If there is a good faith objection to a speedy deletion nomination then, by definition, it cannot meet the criterion as speedy deletion is explicitly only for cases that unquestionably should be deleted. Thryduulf (talk) 18:39, 17 September 2021 (UTC)
- This is the second article in Bengali within a day or so that the same author created about Bernhard Riemann (the other one, বার্নাড ৰিমান, is still there) about whom we already have an article and about whom Bengali Wikipedia already has an article, under a third spelling bn:বের্নহার্ট রিমান, so to transwiki one of the copies here to that project would be their equivalent of an A10. Administrators' newsletter – October 2021
News and updates for administrators from the past month (September 2021).
- Following an RfC, extended confirmed protection may be used preemptively on certain high-risk templates.
- Following a discussion at the Village Pump, there is consensus to treat discord logs the same as IRC logs. This means that discord logs will be oversighted if posted onwiki.
- DiscussionTools has superseded Enterprisey's reply-link script. Editors may switch using the "Discussion tools" checkbox under Preferences → Beta features.
- A motion has standardised the 500/30 (extended confirmed) restrictions placed by the Arbitration Committee. The standardised restriction is now listed in the Arbitration Committee's procedures.
- Following the closure of the Iranian politics case, standard discretionary sanctions are authorized for all edits about, and all pages related to, post-1978 Iranian politics, broadly construed.
- The Arbitration Committee encourages uninvolved administrators to use the discretionary sanctions procedure in topic areas where it is authorised to facilitate consensus in RfCs. This includes, but is not limited to, enforcing sectioned comments, word/diff limits and moratoriums on a particular topic from being brought in an RfC for up to a year.
- Editors have approved expanding the trial of Growth Features from 2% of new accounts to 25%, and the share of newcomers getting mentorship from 2% to 5%. Experienced editors are invited to add themselves to the mentor list.
- The community consultation phase of the 2021 CheckUser and Oversight appointments process is open for editors to provide comments and ask questions to candidates.
Could you oblige, once more? Page was recreated, including CSD template. Thanks in advance. Kleuske (talk) 14:23, 7 October 2021 (UTC)

Midnight Traveler
I'm surprised you went ahead with deleting Midnight Traveler. Do you really think it "contain[ed] copyrighted material with no credible assertion of public domain, fair use, or a compatible free license, where there is no non-infringing content on the page worth saving" as WP:G12 says? Nardog (talk) 13:48, 20 October 2021 (UTC)
- If you would be so good as to indicate the error (specifically) I will happily correct it. As things stand, my answer to your question is Yes, I do. ----Anthony Bradbury"talk" 15:22, 20 October 2021 (UTC)
- So you're saying a block quote preceded by an attribution to the original writer and a citation to the material the quote is from doesn't amount to a credible assertion of fair use?
- I just recreated the article with the "infringing" part summarized using my own words. Everything in the article except the "Production" section is as created the first time. Do you maintain that those parts were not "worth saving"? Nardog (talk) 15:38, 20 October 2021 (UTC)
- I note what you say. I always try not to take "two bites at the cherry", so will leave it alone.----Anthony Bradbury"talk" 15:35, 21 October 2021 (UTC)
- I'm afraid I don't understand what that means in this equation. I'm asking whether you stand by the deletion, which you are obliged to account for.
- I've been here long enough to know that I'm not irreplaceable and there is no justice. But not many editors do, certainly not newcomers. So if you were to encounter another article with the same amount of sourcing but with the same proportion of quotation as the first version of mine and you would delete it, I would not be comfortable with that. It is incredibly dispiriting and demotivating to see something you worked on for hours get promptly taken off. If the creator was a newcomer or not as thick-skinned as I've become, their desire to keep contributing would be gutted, and we would lose a (would-be) valuable editor, which would be a net loss for the project.
- Content creation is hard. That's why "not enough creation" is such a common complaint at RfAs. You must know that. I have great admiration for prolific contributors who just march on in the main namespace. I wrote the article precisely because I figured I should stop slacking off staring at my watchlist and cross off one in the list of links I, as a reader, have been disappointed to see in red. If this is what you get for that, not many people would take it well (I'm not saying I am—but others would likely take it worse).
- I don't claim to have written a great, instant-FA-level article, and I admire patrollers and admins who do the necessary work as well. But if you see a problem, address the problem—not take the entire thing it belongs to with it. You would be justified to call the quotation lazy. I just do not see what reading of G12 allows it to be applied in this case. I want this project to thrive more than I want my contributions to remain, and I urge you to consider more carefully what long-term effects your actions have. (I also encourage you to use clearer language when inquired of about your admin actions. It is unclear what you mean by "note" or what it would mean for you to take "two bites at the cherry" or to not "leave it alone".) Nardog (talk) 06:50, 22 October 2021 (UTC)
- The article is posted; I intend to do nothing with it. What do you want of me? ----Anthony Bradbury"talk" 13:35, 22 October 2021 (UTC)
- To not do it again if you come across a page tagged as G12 when the alleged infringing part is a quote that's attributed and cited and forms only a portion of the page.
- You're again using vague language that's not helpful. What do you intend not to do? If you mean deleting it, why would anyone do that when it no longer contains the material you deleted the first version for?
- And you still haven't answered my simple question, so I ask again. Do you stand by the deletion? Nardog (talk) 16:21, 22 October 2021 (UTC)
- This converstion is finished. Any further co0mments on the lines as your recent ones will be considered as harassment. ----Anthony Bradbury"talk" 21:35, 22 October 2021 (UTC)
- I'm sorry if my questions came off as aggressive, but I'm merely, and genuinely, asking whether you still think the deletion was in line with the policy. If you think you've already answered it, that was lost on me, so you can just repeat that and I will not bother you about this again. Nardog (talk) 22:06, 22 October 2021 (UTC)
- In my personl opiinon the deletion was within policy. Clearly you do not agree, which is your unargued right. As I have already said, I have not done anything else to the article. Taking two bites at a cherry is a not-uncommon phrase meaning to do things twice at the same place; as I also said, I try not to do this. As the article exists now in the form (I assume) with which you are satisfied, I see litle point in further discussion.----Anthony Bradbury"talk" 09:02, 23 October 2021 (UTC)
- It isn't the meaning of the idiom but what it referred to that was unclear, as the article no longer contains the part you deleted the previous version for so the same rationale could not possibly apply. As I explained repeatedly, I take issue not with your deletion per se but with the fact you've stood by it, which indicates you would do it again if you came across a similar situation. I'm not comfortable with that, so I'll defer to the community at Deletion review. Nardog (talk) 14:01, 24 October 2021 (UTC)

Re: speedy deletion of "implausible" redirect, "James Harrison (blood donor"
What constitutes an "implausible" typo? Because that redirect was created because of a typo that factually occurred. It was, specifically, the result of a very common type of typo that occurs when linking wikipedia pages with parentheticals, due to how Markdown (the formatting language used on prominant sites such as reddit and github) formats links. I create such a redirect whenever I see such a broken link in the wild, and generally get thanks for such an action (one is currently on my talk page).
Frankly, I think Wikipedia should automatically redirect any nonexistent page titles with unclosed parenthenses, but until then, the reasonable solution is to add them manually, is it not? --LordDragonfang (talk) 00:47, 3 November 2021 (UTC)
- Thank you for your comment; it is not clear to me why you felt the need to make it. My action was both correct and non-controversial, and I would do it again in the same situation. ----Anthony Bradbury"talk" 12:50, 3 November 2021 (UTC)
- I don't understand. Is it Wikipedia policy to delete redirects of common classes of typos? If you can point me to where that guideline is laid out, I will happily alter my editing behavior. --LordDragonfang (talk) 03:15, 5 November 2021 (UTC)

- No, not really. If they're notable subjects, then the articles should be kept. There's plenty of articles I didn't edit because I didn't find any notability in them. Most of the sports ones, for example. Isn't checking for significant contributions one of the requirements for G5? Liz has been doing that, I notice. SilverserenC 22:40, 9 November 2021 (UTC)

Why did you delete the Taranveer Singh redirect I created. I clearly used the article creation template as I want an actual article here. Did you not notice the template? Neel.arunabh (talk) 01:53, 20 November 2021 (UTC)
- i deleted the redirect because it was inappropriate. If you want an actual article, then you are urged to create one. Redirecting the name of an individual to a large category is vey inexact. Or, looking at from another angle, when we go to the article [film director] then if the redirect is correct we would expect to see Taranveer Singh mentioned within the article. He is not, and the redirect is therefore inappropriate.----Anthony Bradbury"talk" 16:46, 20 November 2021 (UTC)

Re-add Peraton
The page Peraton was marked for speedy deletion by the user Onel5969, they claimed the material was copied from theladders.com. But I have proof that theladders.com copied it from wikipedia, in fact nearly all their company descriptions match wikipedia's entries... I contacted theladders.com and they apologized for copying it, and they are in the process of updating the Peraton description so it doesn't match wikipedia's (which is now deleted)... Anyway, I wrote that article using my own words and cited my sources for any facts, so please restore it and we can work through any other problems with it. Also here's an example of some random company I clicked on at theladders.com and you can see it matches: https://www.theladders.com/company/unsplash-jobs https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Unsplash — Preceding unsigned comment added by Supremedemency (talk • contribs) 23:04, 23 December 2021 (UTC)

- Sorry there must have been a miscommunication, I'm saying that I wrote the Wikipedia article myself, using my own words, and then at some point later The Ladders copied it onto their website. So I never copied anything back, there was never any copyright breakage, I promise, please give me a chance to show proof by restoring the page and giving me like a week to show proof The Ladders copies many pages straight from Wikipedia regularly and should not be considered a primary source. Supremedemency (talk) 19:34, 24 December 2021 (UTC)
- Also the user Onel5969 who originally marked it for speedy deletion is not giving me a chance to show proof they made a mistake (and I do have proof), they responded to my last talk message saying "Nope. Go away. Onel5969 TT me 20:11, 24 December 2021 (UTC)" which is quite concerning, is there a way I can get in contact with you or another administrator to prove my case and show that this editor Onel5969 is being careless? Thanks. Supremedemency (talk) 20:25, 24 December 2021 (UTC)
- Ah. you had not made it clear that the original article was created by you. This means that possibly ladders.com may be in violation of copyright, but you are not. I will restore the article. ----Anthony Bradbury"talk" 22:32, 24 December 2021 (UTC)

Hello, Anthony,
I saw you were active and I'm hoping you can render a verdict on this article. I PROD'd it last week and so I can't act on it. It looks like the PROD tag was removed by a sockpuppet of the page creator who was very active on articles about Azerbaijan personalities. So, either that tag removal has to be decided to be invalid because it was from a blocked sockpuppet and the article deleted or the PROD tag needs to be removed. Thanks for any help you can offer. Interface administrator changes

- Following consensus at the 2021 RfA review, the autopatrolled user right has been removed from the administrators user group; admins can grant themselves the autopatrolled permission if they wish to remain autopatrolled.
- Additionally, consensus for proposal 6C of the 2021 RfA review has led to the creation of an administrative action review process. The purpose of this process will be to review individual administrator actions and individual actions taken by users holding advanced permissions.
- Following the 2021 Arbitration Committee elections, the following editors have been appointed to the Arbitration Committee: Beeblebrox, Cabayi, Donald Albury, Enterprisey, Izno, Opabinia regalis, Worm That Turned, Wugapodes.
- The functionaries email list (functionaries-enlists.wikimedia.org) will no longer accept incoming emails apart from those sent by list members and WMF staff. Private concerns, apart from those requiring oversight, should be directly sent to the Arbitration Committee.
How we will see unregistered users
Hi!
You get this message because you are an admin on a Wikimedia wiki.
When someone edits a Wikimedia wiki without being logged in today, we show their IP address. As you may already know, we will not be able to do this in the future. This is a decision by the Wikimedia Foundation Legal department, because norms and regulations for privacy online have changed.
Instead of the IP we will show a masked identity. You as an admin will still be able to access the IP. There will also be a new user right for those who need to see the full IPs of unregistered users to fight vandalism, harassment and spam without being admins. Patrollers will also see part of the IP even without this user right. We are also working on better tools to help.
If you have not seen it before, you can read more on Meta. If you want to make sure you don’t miss technical changes on the Wikimedia wikis, you can subscribe to the weekly technical newsletter.
We have two suggested ways this identity could work. We would appreciate your feedback on which way you think would work best for you and your wiki, now and in the future. You can let us know on the talk page. You can write in your language. The suggestions were posted in October and we will decide after 17 January.
Thank you. /Johan (WMF)

Question about soft redirects and WP:R2
Thanks for responding to the CSD on French proverbs. I just wanted clarification on something regarding WP:Soft redirects. Is any soft redirect to another Wiki project from Wikipedia mainspace eligible for WP:R2? I noticed that there's the category Category:Redirects to Wikiquote which has several pages in mainspace similar to French proverbs, soft redirects to the corresponding Wikiquote page (e.g. Armenian proverbs). Could all of them be deleted? Thought I'd ask before tagging them all. Qwaiiplayer (talk) 19:24, 7 January 2022 (UTC)

Draft deleted because created by banned or blocked user
Hi, I am Itcouldbepossible, also known as ICBP. Recently you deleted Draft:Lokkhi Kakima Superstar, as it was created by a sockpuppet of User:Cambria Math. But the problem is that the show will start soon, and deleting such an article just because it was created by a banned user is meaningless. And subsequently I also made edits and improved the draft because it was an upcoming show. Please share your views in this matter. Regards. Yours sincerely ItcouldbepossibleTalk 07:33, 3 February 2022 (UTC)
- in my view del;etion of articles created by blocked or banned editors is mandatory, and I do not accept your view that the deletion is meaningless. Any lesser approach negates the whole concept of sockpuppetry prevention. ----Anthony Bradbury"talk" 17:08, 3 February 2022 (UTC)
- But according to WP:G5, it says
This applies to pages created by banned or blocked users in violation of their ban or block, and that have no substantial edits by others
. But the thing is that I had already made my edits there. So then how does it qualify for CSD G5 deletion? ItcouldbepossibleTalk 02:59, 4 February 2022 (UTC)- Hi Anthony Bradbury, stumbled upon this looking through Itcouldbepossible's contributions, would a refund of the page (to draftspace) be possible to see if anything is worth saving? Thanks in advance :D Justiyaya 03:38, 4 February 2022 (UTC)
- @Justiyaya That is what I am also saying. ItcouldbepossibleTalk 05:56, 4 February 2022 (UTC)

- But according to WP:G5, it says
Evie Magazine
I'm the person who created the page. I often come to Wikipedia for information about publications I don't know. There was no page for Evie so I created a simple one. I have no relationship to the magazine.
I've done some reasearch. How about the following:
Evie magazine is an online and printed magazine aimed at young women in the United States.
It says its mission is to "empower, educate, and entertain you with the highest quality content that affirms your femininity, encourages virtue, and offers a more truthful perspective than the biased agenda of other publications".[1]
According to the AllSides democratic media monitoring service, it has a 'Lean Right' bias. As of May 2021, its review found Evie "largely publishes opinion-style pieces that are focused on encouraging traditional values and historic virtues in culture, relationships and lifestyle". AllSides says the magazine typically stands against progressive feminism and is critical of hook-up culture, socialism/communism, the birth control pill and the pharmaceuticals of Western medicine.[2]

Speedy deletion of Jorrit Faassen
Hello, you recently deleted the article Jorrit Faassen saying it "does not credibly indicate the importance or significance of the subject". The article mentioned in the lead that he is Vladimir Putin's son-in-law, married to Putin's eldest daughter Maria. That clearly indicated his significance. Some might not think that is enough to merit his own Wikipedia article, however that would have been a debate for a deletion discussion, but since it was speedily deleted there was none. Also, per WP:CSD, the information could have been merged into another article – Maria's, where much of the information was before I created Fassen's article. I have been able to restore some information there based on the revision history of Maria's article, but some valuable information is missing (e.g. his D.O.B.) as it was added to his article later and with the page gone I have no way of retrieving that information and source. WP:CSD also says the user nominating a page for deletion should notify the page creator and any major contributors – I am the page creator and I was not notified and thus had no way to contest the deletion as I only learned about it from my watchlist after the fact. Abbyjjjj96 (talk) 01:09, 11 March 2022 (UTC)
- You point out, correctly, that the page nominator is requested to notify the page creator of the nomination. please note that i was the page deleter, not the page nominator, and i suggest that you pursue this problem in the correct direction. More to the point, it is a basic premise in wikipedia that notability is not conferred, so that family members of unarguably notable people are not themselves automatically notable. ----Anthony Bradbury"talk" 12:43, 11 March 2022 (UTC)

Vandalism Deletion
Hello, just curious as to why you deleted File:Penile vaginal sexual act (top down).jpg for vandalism? It wasn't a vandalism edit. I created a local description of the file with {{Restricted use}} since the original file was tagged as such and the file was just moved at commons. I have also requested the new file name to be added at MediaWiki talk:Bad image list. Terasail[✉️] 15:48, 18 March 2022 (UTC)
- It is not clear to me why you felt the need to post this image. You may or may not see the close-up image of an erect penis penetrating a vagina as pornographic, but many would. I while I know that wikipedia is not censored, and agree with this policy, the posting of gratuitous pornography is in my view not in the best interests of the encyclopedia.----Anthony Bradbury"talk" 16:42, 18 March 2022 (UTC)
- I didn't post it and it isn't hosted on wikipedia so any notability concerns are not relevant here. I only requested it moved as it had a duplicate name. And then attempted to tag it as a blacklisted image. The tag should remain, I don't see any need for the image but there is no policy to delete it so its beyond the scope. The edit wasn't vandalism in anysense and so I struggle to see why it was CSD'd and I request that you restore it. Thanks, Terasail[✉️] 17:09, 18 March 2022 (UTC)
- Further note. I am happy to discuss my reasoning further (here, at WP:AN, WP:DRV, ect...) but I have decided that I am going to personally recreate this page with {{Restricted use}}. This is for proper categorisation of the file along with notifiying users on why they are incapable of adding it to pages. I am not taking this action to avoid WP:Deletion review however in the spirit of WP:Ignore all rules the CSD was invalid (in my opinion) and sitting here or another discussion board discussing undeleting the page seems pointless to me at this time. Deletion of Big Green Egg
A few weeks ago you deleted an article about the Big Green Egg - link. Can you restore this article to my user space so I can improve it? It obviously passes GNG and deserves a stand alone article, and I would like a chance to remove the reasons for why it was tagged with G11. I think the G11 justification was not met here, but I won't belabor that point. Mr Ernie (talk) 14:25, 11 April 2022 (UTC)
- This article has already been re-created, albeit in draft form. I do think that G!! applied, but will not apply any tags to it. Whether it survives as a draft to make it into article will be for other editors/admins to decide. ----Anthony Bradbury"talk" 22:17, 12 April 2022 (UTC)
New administrator activity requirement
The administrator policy has been updated with new activity requirements following a successful Request for Comment.
Beginning January 1, 2023, administrators who meet one or both of the following criteria may be desysopped for inactivity if they have:
- Made neither edits nor administrative actions for at least a 12-month period OR
- Made fewer than 100 edits over a 60-month period
Administrators at risk for being desysopped under these criteria will continue to be notified ahead of time. Thank you for your continued work.

Teresa of Jesus, Child
Well done on removing the Teresa of Jesus, Child hoax. Even though the creator admitted that the article was in error, I think we should archive this at the list of hoaxes. It’s staggering that this had lasted since 2010. 00sClassicGamerFan (talk) 18:53, 21 June 2022 (UTC)
