coord format to allow searching by Wikipedia's geosearch API

We both seem to be working on the same bridge area over the River Tyne (which is fine, of course). But this gives me an opportunity to mention an issue which I've stumbled across:

If I add a coord with this format
coord|54.9698|-1.5992|type:landmark_region:GB|display=inline,title
everything is fine.

However if I put the region first
coord|54.9698|-1.5992|region:GB_type:landmark|display=inline,title
the coord displays fine, but the geosearch API does not find the page.

I haven't found anything that documents this... What's the consensus - should this be raised as a bug (at least in the documentation)? VelociteMM (talk) 17:43, 22 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
