From Proto-Sino-Tibetan *pʷak (pig), thus an excellent example of the correspondence between Burmish *w- and many other TB *p-.

Cognate with Burmese ဝက် (wak), Tibetan ཕག་པ (phag pa), Chinese (OC *praː, “pig”) or (*pɯɡs, wealth; rich), Nuosu (vot, pig), Nusu va̱⁵³,  Western Lalu ɑ⁵⁵ vɪ̱²¹, Lisu ꓪꓯꓼ (wæ̱̀), Hani aqhhavq, Tangut 𗗾 (*wa¹), Horpa va, Japhug paʁ, Situ pɑk, Jingpho wa, Tshangla pʰak⁵⁵ pa⁵⁵, Chepang प्‍याक् (pyak), Limbu ᤑᤠᤰ (phak), Manipuri ꯑꯣꯛ (ʼok), Karbi phak, Tedim Chin vok, Mizo vawk.
