kartse
Tocharian B
editEtymology
editCompare Tocharian A kräntso (“beautiful”). Possibly from Proto-Indo-European *ǵʰer- (“to yearn for”), whence also Sanskrit हर्यति (haryati, “to like; yearn after”), Ancient Greek χαρτός (khartós, “causing delight”) and Armenian ձիր (jir, “gift; grace”). Alternatively from Proto-Indo-European **gʷr̥H-ont-, from Proto-Indo-European *gʷerH- (“to praise”); akin to Lithuanian gẽras (“good, kind”).
