Etymology
editPenglai Palace was a nickname for Daming Palace (大明宮) of the Tang Dynasty. It derived its nickname from the Penglai ponds that were located at the Palace. Because Mount Penglai also refers to a mystical land found in Chinese mythology, Penglai Palace can also be used as a nickname for a palace where celestial beings live.
