editFrom Pali aṅga (“constituent part, characteristic part”), from Sanskrit अङ्ग (aṅga, “body, component, member, part”); perhaps via Old Khmer អង្គ (ʼaṅga), អង (ʼaṅa), អំ (ʼã, “member, part; article, item, thing; body, person”). Compare Lao ອົງ (ʼong), Thai องค์ (ong).
