Images

edit

Hi! I will reply here because I don't want to create mess in the Pub. The images are transferred automatically. Humans should not transfer anything, but rather assist before and after the transfer:

  • Prepare the images by tagging them (how to tag). Presently, we have to deal with uncategorized files on WTS and local files on en:
  • Prepare the images by checking the uploads by user. This should be done for users with large number of uploads only. This second check is mostly for removing the images that are not covered by the Freedom of Panorama.
  • Review images on Commons (lists are here). Reviewing means removing the yellow box (the one that suggests you to review the image), checking author and license, and adding at least one category
  • Review images that can not be uploaded to Commons. They are listed here and here. We should get rid of them as much as possible.
  • Review the images that have been transferred, and remove them from WTS (I have explained the procedure here).

Please, ask questions! --Alexander (talk) 19:04, 26 November 2012 (UTC)Reply

Regarding your questions:

  • Where do I look to find images ready for transfer.
See the links above. In fact, we have to prepare images for transfer
  • What needs to be checked prior to transfer (i.e. licensing, naming, etc) and how are they handled.
License, name conflicts on Commons, Freedom of Panorama (for copyrighted buildings and artwork).
  • After transfer, what else is need on Commons for the image (i.e. Categories, Original upload logs, etc). Please, ask if you don't know what it means
Original upload logs are added by the bot. The categories should be added manually. We should also make a formal review of the image, as suggested by a yellow box with the link. Do not remove the {{wikivoyage|wts}} template! It marks all images that were transferred from WTS
  • After everything is completed on the transfer to commons, is there a process to add the image back to articles on Wikivoyage.
Images with the same name will appear automatically. Other images are taken care by the bot. No action is required from your side unless you change filenames manually. Note that you may have to purge the cache of the page before recently transferred images show up.

This is a very useful comment. Would you mind "releasing it into the Public Domain," i.e., can I copy this text as general instructions on how to help? --Peter Talk 03:16, 27 November 2012 (UTC)Reply
I have no objections. It has been extremely useful to me, although I'm still sure if I am doing it correctly. The note belongs to Alexander (talk), so it is really up to him. That said, it is CC-BY-SA 3.0 License, which is close to Public Domain. :-) - Tom Holland (Xltel) (talk) 04:02, 27 November 2012 (UTC)Reply
yes, sure! --Alexander (talk) 07:06, 27 November 2012 (UTC)Reply

LGBT

edit

FYI, a fellow Wikivoyager plunged forward and created the Wikivoyage:LGBT Expedition. The discussion in the pub has been moved to the expedition's talk page. -- Sapphire (talk) 19:33, 16 January 2013 (UTC)Reply

Hello! Sorry for writing in English. As you're an administrator here, please check the message I left on MediaWiki talk:Licenses and the village pump. Thanks, Nemo 19:22, 18 September 2014 (UTC)Reply

Administrator status (Official Notice)

edit
A similar message was also sent via e-mail.

Thanks for your service as a Wikivoyage administrator. As you may be aware, our Wikivoyage:Administrators policy indicates that administrators who have not edited on the English Wikivoyage in over two years should have their administrator flags removed. This is for account security purposes, not a reflection of a loss of trust or any disappointment.

As such, we will be removing your administrator flag on December 1, 2015. Should you wish to retain your status, simply come on back and make an edit! That resets the clock. And if you ever decide to return to Wikivoyage as an active editor, your administrator flag can be restored by request.

If you have any questions or concerns, let me know.

Docent

edit

Hi, Xltek! Are you still available as a docent? I've noticed you haven't been on Wikivoyage since last year, so just need to check whether you want us to retain you as docent. Many thanks, ThunderingTyphoons! (talk) 00:01, 23 August 2018 (UTC)Reply
