Master has created valid articles on Ghanaian football players, including Kpah Sean Sherman. The user account under the latter name, however was just given a short block for creation and repeated removal of A7 speedy deletion tags from Daniel Kobe Ricks. Requesting checkuser to confirm the connection. Suggest an indef block for the sock and a short block for the master if socking is confirmed. --Finngall talk 17:53, 8 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

  • Not sure I'm getting why the creation of this article is a problem; even I can see that the article subject meets notability standards. Is it a surprise that multiple people want to create that article? Incidentally,"Kwame" (and its variations)as a given name in Ghana is kind of like "Joe" (and its variations) in Western countries. I need to see a much stronger reason than this to do a CU. Risker (talk) 21:13, 19 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

  • @GAB: When you tag these, be sure to look at the article history for every single page and ping me if you find more possibilities. I've been working from the bottom up and I've deleted everything created by everyone up to Jackson Manneh, and I've already uncovered another range full of socks. This editor's user-page is a copy, probably an identical one, of the article on Dauda Mohammed, created by DKRJ-socks. The page is even attributed to him in the references section. Sir Sputnik (talk) 02:31, 16 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

I am adding User:Daniel Kobe Ricks (Kobe Don Holic) to the investigation, for obvious reasons. I should mention that CU is unlikely to produce anything of value here, considering that both of these are dormant and were registered before the master account was. This editor has overlapping interests in football and the music industry in West Africa. Particularly telling are some of the stylistic choices with Emmanuel Ocran. Note that in the youth career section of the infobox, this editor has continued DKRJ's unusual practice of listing the country where a club is located. Compare to this or this or this. Since this editor usually has multiple socks on the go at once, I'm requesting CU evidence to identify potential sleepers. Sir Sputnik (talk) 16:00, 22 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]

This editor has recreated the article on Michel Okai. DKRJ previously created the article at User:Michel Welvin Okai. (It's since been deleted per WP:U5.) This editor has also continued DKRJ's practice of asking other editors help them review their creations. (Compare this to this or this. Sir Sputnik (talk) 03:40, 19 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

I'm adding an IP to the investigation (though obviously not to the CU request). All of the IP's edits have been to or about the two article's created by Bigsplash1, and have also requested one of them be reviewed at the help desk, raising similar concerns as Bigsplash1 did elsewhere. • Additional information - it turns out one of the many socks blocked last November also created the article on Michel Okai. Sir Sputnik (talk) 01:26, 25 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]
  • Comment - With regards to the three accounts not blocked, they are pretty clearly also DKRJ. The most telling thing here is that's fairly trivial to show based on both technical and behavioural evidence that these three are one person. This means that if they are not DKRJ, it means we've got two editors with similar interests, both using multiple accounts, and whose technical information is sufficiently similar as to be considered confirmed to each other by CU. This seems unlikely. Sir Sputnik (talk) 16:52, 5 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

  • As usual with DKRJ, it's a hot mess. These accounts are   Confirmed to each other and are very   Likely to the master:
  • This group is   Confirmed to each other and to Gabriel Sances, but   Behavioural evidence needs evaluation just to be sure:
@KrakatoaKatie: I'm confused by the accounts confirmed to Gabriel Sances, of which Shahadusadik and Joy Agyepong are older by half a year and have been reasonably consistently active. Are you certain they're confirmed, and if so, why not block? All I get from behaviour that I can add is the similar user pages, and the fact that Shahadusadik supposedly requested unblock via UTRS about a month ago despite having never been blocked, and if I were to block at this point it would be based on the technical evidence. But you didn't block, so ... clerk is confused. Ivanvector (Talk/Edits) 18:55, 5 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Per WP:LITTLEBROTHER, Kwekuansah has basically admitted their identity, claiming to be a friend of the editor who created Jeremiah Obuobi, Kulaperry, and Rex Omar. (See diff.)

The IP created Draft:Joel Orleans Amponsah, which a previous DKRJ sock created in the mainspace at Joel Orleans Amponsah. That being said, the IP is dynamic, so blocking it probably won't do much. I've included it here since the evidence for Fosanaamansan, relies in part on the fact that the IP is DRKJ.

The IP's interest in Francis Xavier-Sosu suggests a connection to Fosanaamansan. Additionally, a number of stylistic choices in Fosanaamansan's two creations, the other being Jefferson Sackey, remind me of DRKJ, particularly the post-pending of country names to the "Known for" entries in Sackey's infobox. This sort of thing appears quite frequently in DKRJ's football related creations (see /Archive#22 February 2017 for diffs), but also in other work (here for instance).

The CU request obviously doesn't apply to the IP. Sir Sputnik (talk) 19:33, 23 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Pairs of the users have similar usernames. The first sockpuppet has created BereniceMulubah, which was deleted and protected from creation. Subsequent recreations of the article used the title BereniceMulubah1 and Berenice-Mulubah. User:BereniceMulubah1 and User:Subratasutradhar made recreations, while User:Subratasd uploaded an image for the repeatedly recreated article. Some sockpuppets have attempted to avoid deletion by removing CSD templates ([3], other removals have been deleted). Although 197something had his own SPI with Frank Hooke as a proposed sock which proved inconclusive, it has become obvious to me that he is actually a sock of this paid editing farm, as is Frank Hooke. Although the Frank Hooke account is now stale, there are 6 confirmed socks of Daniel Kobe Ricks Jr with "hooke" in their usernames: Paulhooke, Jameshooke, Cephushooke, BOBHOOKE, Steelhooke, and Markhooke23 (who also created Frank hooke and uploaded a photo of him to Commons [4]). See also this IP's comment which is rather a clincher: "I'm frank Hooke and I created a page Adams bodomo using the account samwright but after few hours the page got blocked by you...". Samwright is a confirmed DKRJ sock. 197something recreated Frank Hooke's deleted articles DJ Sly(Ghana) under Dj Sly (Ghana) and Y Pee under YPee. Both are typical subjects of this sockfarm, i.e. Ghanaian models, DJs, pop singers, "celebrity" bloggers, etc.. Note also that 197something's recreation of YPee was moved out of draft space by another confirmed DKRJ sock, St johnparish [5], and edited by another confirmed sock, Shammahamoah [6]. It has now been moved by a legitimate editor back to Draft:YPee.

Both 197something and confirmed sock Churchboyz refer to themselves as "Jeff": [7] [8]

Both 197something and SOUNDS FROM THE OTHER SIDE. have edited Erskine Amo Whyte, previously edited by confirmed sock Desktop88, and a typical DKRJ subject. 197something also uploaded File:Erskine.jpg. A file of the same name had been uploaded by SOUNDS FROM THE OTHER SIDE and deleted as copyvio a month earlier [9]. SOUNDS FROM THE OTHER SIDE registered on 7 February, went immediately to Trigmatic (previously edited by confirmed sock Lbjcavs), consecutively added two copyvio images to Erskine Amo Whyte, made a few more edits to Trigmatic and then ceased editing completely. Note also the similar "explanations" for the copyvio image of Erskine Amo Whyte "the photographer that took the pic is a co worker" (SOUNDS FROM THE OTHER SIDE) and "I obtained erskine whyte image when the publication I work for wrote a piece on him" (197something).

Artsmusicfeel (registered 8 June) created Peter Kenvyn Jones as a complete draft with infobox with their very first edit to Wikipedia that same day [10] [11] and made no further edits. The draft was subsequently edited by confirmed sock Steelhooke and by the IP 154.160.4.117 which resolves to Ghana. This IP claims to be the draft's creator here and also edited Erskine Amo Whyte [12]. 197something subsequently moved the Peter Kenvyn Jones draft to article space [13]. On the face of it, the English actor/composer Peter Kenvyn Jones, might seem outside these socks' usual editing pattern, but per his official website, Jones has a close connection to Ghana [14]. See also the AfD for this article re the spurious claims to a CBE and Military Cross and their subsequent removal.

Both 197something and Artsmusicfeel have tendency to use all-CAPS for titles of plays, films, etc. See: [15] and [16]. In a previous DKRJ SPI Sir Sputnik described that as a stylistic marker for DKRJ socks in relation to Draft:Rauf Tofic. However, that draft and so many of the drafts and articles by the various socks have been deleted that I have no way of checking this.

I'm asking for a checkuser because of the master's extensive use of simultaneously-existing socks and sleeper accounts. I am aware that both Frank Hooke and SOUNDS FROM THE OTHER SIDE are stale and would have to be decided on behavioural evidence. However, 197something and Artsmusicfeel are still live. Possibly found another sock of Daniel Kobe Ricks Jr, which I found when looking at the contributions of one of their socks (User:Shammahamoah). Today I noticed that Freda Rhymz had been recreated, and was suspicious given the level of paid editing that surrounded the article in the past. Specifically, the article was targeted by the Ghana based FFHypeTeam, which employed User:Shammahamoah to create the article in June 2018. Seeing the article again, I noted that Elshalombae had joined the project on 3 July, 2 days after Shammahamoah had been blocked as a sock. Using information from Elshalombae's userpage, I was able to (via google) find a possible (I.E a strong one, but omitting information to respect Wikipedia's outing policy) connection between them and the social media accounts of the FFHypeTeam, so sock or meat puppetry is almost a certainty. Their editing style is also very similar to Shammahamoah's. For example, Shammahamoah created Amerado (rapper), and Elshalombae created a very similar article again at Amerado. I have also added User:Kojomawuli to the list. Account created 23 July. On 24 July makes extensive edits to Amerado 15 minutes after Elshalombae created the article. The first of these involved adding numerous perfectly formatted references [17]. Clearly not a new user. Also adds an image [18], previously uploaded to Commons [19] by confirmed sock User:Theheirgh. Kojomawuli also extensively edited Freda Rhymz shortly after it was re-created by Elshalombae [20]. Both make the same error of using thumbnails in the infobox: Kojomawuli at Amerado and Elshalombae at Draft:Nana Appiah Mensah. Voceditenore (talk) 08:06, 26 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I used an internet café today which was reportedly having a block IP Address from Wikipedia.I Also created new pages, that is Amerado and Freda Rhymz which appeared on Google but the main article was lost on Wikipedia from my research. I got the lost informations on a website called "DeletedWiki". It has affected my account, help me fix it. Elshalombae (talk) 06:55, 26 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Elshalombae's comment is suspect. It is very irregular for an ostensibly new editor to be concerned about the IP they are editing from, whereas if they were a returning user they may be more cautious. In addition, I searched DeletedWiki and Deletionpedia, and was unable to find either of the articles I cited (Amerado (rapper), Freda Rhymz) on record, possibly because they were deleted while in the draftspace. Diffs would be helpful if they can be provided--SamHolt6 (talk) 15:51, 26 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Salvio, BANNTTY (talk · contribs) has only made one edit—their own user page. Not really any behavioural evidence to go on, apart from the way he describes himself there. I suppose we'll have to keep an eye on his future edits and bring him to SPI if they look suspicious. Does he have any deleted edits? Voceditenore (talk) 16:10, 26 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

None, I mentioned him because I'm not really familiar with this sock master and don't know if he's ever written about other rappers other than the ones listed here. Salvio Let's talk about it! 16:25, 26 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Salvio, Ghanaian (and occasionally Nigerian) rappers and DJs are some of this sockfarm's most frequent targets. The most recent ones, apart from the two mentioned above, are Dj Sly (Ghana) and YPee. Voceditenore (talk) 16:48, 26 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks. We have so many frequent flyers by now that keeping up with all of them gets difficult... Salvio Let's talk about it! 17:52, 26 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

There is another odd thing about BANNTTY (talk · contribs) - he/she is linked to Septrillion (talk · contribs):

By a remarkable coincidence, at 21:00, 20 July 2018, Septrillion was blocked indefinitely after a check-user.[22] -- Toddy1 (talk) 21:40, 26 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

As it turns out, that was a remarkable coincidence, indeed: the two accounts are unrelated. Salvio Let's talk about it! 22:10, 26 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Note to Sir Sputnik and/or closing admin. At this point I'm wondering if we should have an LTA page for this sockfarm. As Salvio points out it is becoming increasingly difficult for checkusers to keep track of all these types of groups and their modus operandi. The issue is further complicated by the fact this sockfarm's technical information can intersect with legitimate users involved in a WMF outreach program in Ghana, making a clear outline of their targets and the articles known to be created or heavily edited by their confirmed socks all the more useful. In any case, the following is a basic description of their modus operandi for future reference. Daniel Kobe Ricks Jr et al. is a paid editing ring with already 138 confirmed socks and another 23 suspected and blocked. It is closely connected to and probably congruent with the Ghanaian paid editing/PR company FFHypeTEAM which was founded in 2015. Shortly thereafter, the onslaught on Wikipedia began. Its founder and CEO is the multiply deleted and now salted Kwao Lezzes-Tyt. They specialize in hyping Ghanaian pop musicians, DJs, music companies, record labels, radio and internet "personalities" etc. However, they have also created articles on Ghanaian football players. One of their members even advertises his services on the internet in that respect and provides two examples of his footballer creations on Wikipedia: Kwame Kizito and the now deleted Mintah Jordan. •   Clerk endorsed - Given the recreations and DKRJ's history of sleepers, this is definitely worth checking. Sir Sputnik (talk) 02:15, 26 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  •   Awaiting administrative action - Between the technical evidence and their subjects of interest, Elshalombae and Kojomawuli look like pretty clear cut socks to me. Please block them both indefinitely. With regards to BANNTTY, I don't think there's enough to go on, given the limitation of CheckUser evidence in this case. I'd recommend keeping an eye on them (I'll do so myself as well), but if it is DKRJ the account is probably already abandoned. Sir Sputnik (talk) 01:26, 27 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Before I saw this SPI case I was already considering blocking Elshalombae as a promotional account. Since seeing the case I have checked further, and found yet more evidence of sockpuppetry, not mentioned above. Kojomawuli is clearly connected too. I have blocked them both. I agree entirely with what Sir Sputnik has said about BANNTTY immediately above. The editor who uses the pseudonym "JamesBWatson" (talk) 12:48, 27 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I tend to agree with Sir Sputnik. I've had a fair amount of experience with DKRJ socks and their articles and I'm not seeing any overlap here. The edits by Menyanga, Tabuhart, and Goruback (Tabuhart's other sock) were on Uganda-related subjects. The DKRJ sockfarm wrote almost entirely on Ghana-related subjects with an occasional foray into Nigerian bios, but as far as I know, never on Uganda-related subjects. Voceditenore (talk) 15:57, 3 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Update: It appears that Sammy, kent (talk · contribs) a checkuser-confirmed sock of DKRJ also created an earlier version of Brian Ahumuza [27]. So perhaps there is a connection. All six of the articles Sammy, kent created were on Ugandan personalities. Voceditenore (talk)

Would someone add User:Enim Christopher (talk) to the list? They recently created Nana Aba Anamoah and Draft:Nana Aba Anamoah (newscaster) with their first few edits, and per the page log Draft:Nana Aba Anamoah (newscaster) was created by a blocked paid editor who relevant to this SPI. It is also suspicious that a new editor would recreate a draft article with so specific a name.--SamHolt6 (talk) 20:45, 3 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Created the first incarnation of Kwao Lezzes-Tyt, who is strongly associated with this sockfarm and whose article was recreated by User:Theheirgh and User:Shammahamoah, both blocked sock accounts. Created Lukumanu Iddrisu, who per off-wiki searches is likely a client of Kwao Lezzes-Tyt. Recently came to my attention when they executed a semi copy-paste move to create Draft:Dr Cryme, though they left out the COI and UDP tags from the copied article; Dr Cryme for the record was the subject of edits (admin googles would be needed to see which ones) by editor(s) blocked via this SPI. Per their facebook page, Dr Cryme seems to be a client of the FFHypeTeam, a company headed by Kwao Lezzes-Tyt. Checkuser will be needed, but this could also be meatpuppetry.--SamHolt6 (talk) 14:42, 8 September 2018 (UTC) SamHolt6 (talk) 14:42, 8 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Accused parties may also comment/discuss in this section below. See Defending yourself against claims. The accusation levelled against me by User:SamHolt6 is unfortunate. I am a Ghanaian and contribute to Wikipedia regarding matters concerning Ghanaians. Although I do not deny the fact that I executed a semi copy-paste move to create Draft:Dr Cryme, I do not have any association with the people aforementioned. Dr Cryme is an award winning musician who has contributed to his nation and therefore, qualifies to be featured on Wikipedia with no intention of promotion or marketing. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Sasluk11 (talkcontribs) 14:06, 9 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I'm unsure who the actual master is as there is overlap with DKRJ but this appears to be a paid ring, per this.

Asiamagodson was created shortly following Akuagoldie's block and created Eshun (Ghanian singer) in the same format of past socks in this ring but specifically using uploads by Akuagoldie. CHRISSYMAD ❯❯❯¯\_(ツ)_/¯ 16:24, 9 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

User:Asokwaeric and an Ip are possibly relevant to this SPI. Asokwaeric joined the project and made a few edits before moving Draft:Jeremiah Obuobi to Jeremiah Obuobi. Note this draft was created in its entirety by an ip with one edit [28] (the ip's first), after which the ip submitted the draft to AfC. This is suspiciously knowledgeable for a new editor. Asokwaeric then moved [29] the article to the mainspace, which is odd given the remote nature of the draft. This was also the MO of socks of Daniel Kobe Ricks Jr in the past. Also noteworthy is the fact that, per the page log [30] Jeremiah Obuobi has been deleted multiple times, twice for being created by banned users (socks of Daniel Kobe Ricks Jr) and once for infringing on the copyright of Kwao Lezzes-Tyt's website (Kwao is strongly affiliated with the DKR jr. Sockfarm). This seems to be sock puppetry to me, but meat puppetry could also be at play. SamHolt6 (talk) 01:20, 11 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Definitely not a brand new user. The suspected sock also recreated Natty Lee previously created by a checkuserblock-account MrOrhin (talk+ · tag · contribs · deleted contribs · logs · filter log · block user · spi block · block log · CA · CheckUser(log· investigate · cuwiki). The article looks very similar to the deleted version and his behaviour is very (very) similar to MrOrhin and MrMawuli (talk+ · tag · contribs · deleted contribs · logs · filter log · block user · spi block · block log · CA · CheckUser(log· investigate · cuwiki). I WP:DUCK blocked Wiki3310 (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · logs · filter log · block user · block log) as a likely sock of Daniel Kobe Ricks Jr (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · logs · filter log · block user · block log) due to re-creation of Natty Lee (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views), a G5 deleted spam article by an earlier ban-evading sock, part of the FFHypeTeam sockfarm. The new article is only slightly different from the deleted version. The master is stale so can't be CU verified but the article focus - creation of articles on minor living Ghanaian pop culture figures previously created by socks - plus non-newbie familiarity from day 1 strongly suggests this is yet another one. The account in question, Tyt0791, edited an article on a Ghanaian journalist created and mainly edited by the FFHypeTeam sockfarm, the article in question being https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sammy_Flex as well as admitting to being a "Social Media Marketer" on their userpage. He has also created articles on Ghanaian musicians and artists, like https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flyboy_Geesus and https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DJ_Slim, which is something the FFHypeTeam sockfarm (AKA Daniel Kobe Ricks Jr) does a lot. They are, to quote an editor, "relentless". I believe a CheckUser will help flush out any other socks. 92.30.178.135 (talk) 22:45, 2 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Creation of Draft:Kofi Mole. The article Kofi Mole was deleted on the 17th of April 2019 (log), under G5 for pages created by one of the most recent socks Tyt0791. From what I can see (edit summary of deleted page from log), both the draft and deleted article use similar first sentences. It may be good for an admin to compare the deleted text from the article to the draft. IPs only edits are two edits (one to create the draft (suggesting copy and paste) and one to submit) (contribs).
