Overlinking

Hi, thanks for your edits. Please note that we don't normally link common terms ("writer", etc), commonly known country-names, or dates/years. Tony (talk) 04:32, 9 January 2019 (UTC)

@Tony1: Hi there, that's fair enough, although I only replicated what I saw in existing articles over the years. However I can't remember linking to any dates or years, some of these might be artefacts of using visual editor once articles are created, which can make for clumsy links. I would sometimes take issue with the idea of "commonly known" however, as common to whom exactly? :) Smirkybec (talk) 16:32, 9 January 2019 (UTC)
Thx for your reply. It's one pay-off for fixing a portion of articles: it provides a better chance of good models for other editors. My best. Tony (talk) 00:59, 10 January 2019 (UTC)

David Callender Campbell (naturalist)

I noticed the above red list on your todo list. I suppose you have some sources on the subject and wondered if you might be able to check if he was related to another naturalist of interest to me User:Shyamal/Thomas_Vincent_Campbell. Thanks in advance. Shyamal (talk) 09:48, 1 January 2019 (UTC)

Hi @Shyamal:, he has been on my list so long I have forgotten the details about him! I have a feeling that the only information I have about him is from Robert Lloyd Praeger's Some Irish Naturalists. There used to be a copy of the contents available online via the National Botanic Gardens of Ireland website, but it has since disappeared. I am a little disconnected from my usual online resources that the moment, but should be back to normal by the end of the month. I'll see if I can find anything useful for you. Smirkybec (talk) 16:28, 9 January 2019 (UTC)
Thanks @Smirkybec:. I will also let you know if I find something. Shyamal (talk) 07:12, 14 January 2019 (UTC)
I have been able to confirm that William Howard Campbell and Thomas Vincent Campbell were brothers which would make DC a sibling too. Let me know if you want the sources that I have used on those articles. Shyamal (talk) 03:35, 23 January 2019 (UTC)
