Hello, RDvor, and welcome to Wikipedia! My name is Ian and I work with the Wiki Education Foundation; I help support students who are editing as part of a class assignment.

I hope you enjoy editing here. If you haven't already done so, please check out the student training library, which introduces you to editing and Wikipedia's core principles. An apology

edit

Hello. I'm a host at the Teahouse, and I wanted to apologise to you if this reply to you came across as inappropriate or rude. We have many people helping to answer questions like yours, and they come from all across the world to volunteer their time and skills, often using a second language to interact with people here. I fear the word "bother" was used by accident instead of "hesitate" in a reply to you by a fellow host (who is a native of India), which unfortunately would have utterly changed the meaning of their reply to you, and might have come across as insulting. I have every confidence this was unintentional, but wanted to clarify things as the Teahouse and all its hosts and users pride ourselves on our friendly welcome we give to every new user.

Please don't hesitate to drop by the Teahouse again should you need any further help or guidance in editing Wikipedia. And thank you for your interest and contributions thus far. Regards from the UK, Nick Moyes (talk) 12:34, 29 December 2021 (UTC)Reply

Sorry RVDor. You had asked a question at the Teahouse, and I had wrote the following phrase - "I hope you know how to do it. If not, please don't bother to ask me again". It could have meant to you that I am actually telling you "don't bother me again", but no, I actually meant "You can ask me unlimited number of times, if you face any problem'. Please don't take the meaning the other way round. My talk page is always there to post your questions, and I assure you that I will reply whenever I get time. And moreover, the Teahouse is always open to post your questions, and experience editors (atleast a 100 times more experienced than me) will get back to you as soon as possible. Please, forgive me. I hope you understand my position, and I am really ashamed of my language trouble.

@Itcouldbepossible, @Nick Moyes, No worries at all! Please don't stress about it -- I figured you meant "don't hesitate" rather than "don't bother" and I had read your other responses on the Teahouse page before and knew you to be kind and welcoming. Thanks for coming over to my talk page and clarifying! No offense taken, I knew what you meant! RDvor (talk) 21:21, 29 December 2021 (UTC)Reply
You might be tying to ping us. Well you can ping using {{ping}}. If you face any other problem pinging, then don't forget to ask me. Thanks. ItcouldbepossibleTalk 03:11, 1 January 2022 (UTC)Reply
