A modification of interiot's wannabe Kate tool...
Hello, Privatemusings directed me your way after a few beers last night - I am looking for a tool which would modify part of this one [1] -I was keen to find a tool which lists my mainspace edits by article - bit like the section on this but listing all articles and ranking by number of edits rather than just the top 15. Is it easy/difficult etc.? Cheers, Casliber (talk · contribs) 11:26, 9 May 2008 (UTC)
- I'd have to take a look at it. Q T C 22:09, 9 May 2008 (UTC)

Hey, had any progress? If you really don't have the time or the inclination, it's no big deal as there are other people I can ask. You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war according to the reverts you have made on Minutes to Midnight (album). Note that the three-revert rule prohibits making more than three reversions on a single page within a 24 hour period. Additionally, users who perform a large number of reversions in content disputes may be blocked for edit warring, even if they do not technically violate the three-revert rule. If you continue, you may be blocked from editing. Please do not repeatedly revert edits, but use the talk page to work towards wording and content that gains a consensus among editors. If necessary, pursue dispute resolution. Redfarmer (talk) 21:57, 6 June 2008 (UTC)
- Well the user obviously doesn't agree with you about the genre thing and you've both reverted three times. I'd say that's a healthy edit war. Redfarmer (talk) 22:06, 6 June 2008 (UTC)
- He doesn't seem to agree with consensus either, or what anybody else thinks Q T C 22:08, 6 June 2008 (UTC)
- I've left a message on his talk page instructing him to engage in discussion before any further reverts and have reverted to the last good version before he edited. Any further edits on his part will be in violation of WP:3RR. Hope that helps your situation. Cheers! Redfarmer (talk) 22:15, 6 June 2008 (UTC)

Just an observation...found poetry sometimes will get test/joke edits/vandalism, and I'm thinking, the more people who have this article on their watchlist, the better. It seems a bit abadoned. Can you add to your watchlist? --Justpassin (talk) 01:15, 9 June 2008 (UTC)

George Carlin
Yip, it's true. His soul is going up on the roof and not coming down. We weren't to know any better; it took a while for someone to get a source in there, but I guess that's why the policy exists :) ~ Ameliorate U T @ 05:38, 23 June 2008 (UTC)

Toilet Man
No thanks on the offer to test my editing. I rather just get my 15 minutes of fame and play pranks until I get banned. It's more fun that way. The point of Wikipedia may mean different things to different people. We will agree to disagree on the interpretation of the concept of anyone being able to edit. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.252.45.213 (talk) 17:07, 24 June 2008 (UTC)
OK delete my message. That's cool. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.252.45.213 (talk) 17:32, 24 June 2008 (UTC)
You seem to be naive to the point I am trying to make. This isn't a policy issue. I am not trying to say that joking isn't vandalism or that vandalism should be left up. I am trying to change the obnoxious attitude people like you have towards harmless joking. Get a sense of humor. If you see a prank image of a toilet on a random page, go ahead and remove it, ban the user, whatever. But at least appreciate the joke in it and stop taking yourself so seriously. Just smile, delete, and move on. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.252.45.213 (talk) 17:40, 24 June 2008 (UTC)
- It's not harmless. That's why it's called vandalism. Q T C 17:42, 24 June 2008 (UTC)
Stop being self-righteous. Just because Wikipedia defines something a certain way doesn't make it true. I don't accept force-fed bullshit. A prank toilet image is harmless. It gets removed in minutes. It gets a quick laugh and then everything returns to normal. Get over yourself dude. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.252.45.213 (talk) 17:47, 24 June 2008 (UTC)
OverlordQ: By the way... thanks for stepping in re the above user. I know I tend to be too lenient at times (and fail to respect WP:DENY)... it's a result of my optimism towards the reformation of vandals. Didn't seem to work in this case though. Gail (talk) 18:53, 24 June 2008 (UTC)

Thank you for experimenting with Wikipedia. Your test worked, and the page that you created has been or soon will be deleted. Please use the sandbox for any other tests you want to do. Take a look at the welcome page if you would like to learn more about contributing to our encyclopedia.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}}
to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the article does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that a copy be emailed to you. Q T C 00:53, 2 July 2008 (UTC)

This image seems to have a valid fair use claim, including mentioning the copyright owner so I was wondering, why did you tag it as having no info on its copyright status? James086Talk | Email 11:58, 7 August 2008 (UTC)
- Non-free images need a copyright tag, source information, and use rationales. All it has in a fair use rationale. Q T C 13:30, 7 August 2008 (UTC)
- Ok then. I added a copyright tag and changed the deletion reason to no-source. I'll see if the uploader can provide a link but judging by her talk page it seems unlikely. James086Talk | Email 14:15, 7 August 2008 (UTC)

My first disclaimer is that I am a novice and not well schooled with Wikipedia policy. Thus I recently inadvertently uploaded two copies of the same image using different names. Orphaned non-free media (Image:RAC.jpg)
Thanks for uploading Image:RAC.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

Hey, I was recently turned down when I applied to help at the account creation process. I completely appreciate the decision, but I appealed as I wanted to put my reasoning etc across, and explain why I wanted to take part. Watchmen
Maybe so, but I'd rather have a page history need correcting than an article with the vandalized title. As of right now, no one has gotten off their ass to fix the page. BIGNOLE (Contact me) 05:44, 9 March 2009 (UTC)
- No, if people start to edit the Watchmen article, there is no way to merge the edit histories. So it's better to leave the redirect. That is why when you try to move the redirect back to not just copy the content. Q T C 05:46, 9 March 2009 (UTC)
- It's the lesser of two evils in my opinion, especially given the response time of the admins right now. BIGNOLE (Contact me) 05:46, 9 March 2009 (UTC)
- It's not lesser, to comply with licensing issues the history must be preserved. Q T C 05:47, 9 March 2009 (UTC)
ACC block - RE: 24280
Hi. I believe it was you who last night blocked me from ACC last night for request 24280. I came onto IRC today but it appears you have been inactive, but I've heard pretty all I need to hear from stwalkerster. I mistook that request as one from a blocked permanent IP address, instead of an anon-only static IP, and because it was permanently blocked, I assumed I should have dropped the request. It's clear that that was a misunderstanding on my part and it wasn't at all an intentional "omgz lets cause havoc on the tool". I was wondering if you'd be in any position to unblock my status on the tool, since judging by my past hundreds of account creations, there should be no issue. Also, can I ask why a message on my talk page wasn't enough? I feel it was inappropriate to block a long-term user of the tool for one mistake, which was not patently abusive in it's own right. —Cyclonenim (talk · contribs · email) 16:08, 10 March 2009 (UTC)
- I know and I apologise, I was just wanting to make sure I didn't miss something obvious with the request. The reason you don't drop those requests is because AOL proxies send the XFF Header, unfortunately the toolserver does not have the same exemption as the rest of the WMF wikis so instead of seeing the real source address we see the proxy IP. So all of the AOL proxies will likely show up with a ungood block/edit history. Q T C 20:21, 10 March 2009 (UTC)
- Lesson learnt, no worries. This could have been explained without a block though, but it's all in the past. Cheers for the unblock and explanation. —Cyclonenim (talk · contribs · email) 20:54, 10 March 2009 (UTC)

Speedy deletion
Thank you for your efforts to help clean up Wikipedia. As a suggestion, please don't use the {{db-talk}} template on non-Talk redirect pages. Instead, use {{db-redirnone}}. This ensures that the correct edit summary is generated when the page is actually deleted. Thanks again. --R'n'B (call me Russ) 14:11, 19 March 2009 (UTC)
- Ah, much apologies. Might bug the TWINKLE people to change it to {{csd-g8}} instead of using db-talk. Q T C 16:59, 19 March 2009 (UTC)
Bureaucrat
I'm just wondering, when you were a bureaucrat, did you have the option to give yourself +sysop? GT5162 (我的对话页) 17:58, 20 March 2009 (UTC)
- Yes. Q T C 17:59, 20 March 2009 (UTC)

RfA a success
A consensus has been reached by your peers that you should be an admin. I have made it so. Please review Wikipedia:Administrators' reading list and keep up the great work. Sincerely, Kingturtle (talk) 17:44, 20 March 2009 (UTC)
- How was your brief stint as a bureaucrat? :) Majorly talk 17:49, 20 March 2009 (UTC)
- Long enough I could get a screenshot for posterity sake. Oh well, maybe in another 5 years ;) Q T C 17:51, 20 March 2009 (UTC)
- Put it this way, you've done far better than most RfB candidates have ever done. :D Acalamari 17:59, 20 March 2009 (UTC)

Thanks!
Thanks for your note. Yes, the userification will leave a lot of broken redirects.
I thought a robot cleaned up after this kind of broken redirects. Did I get that wrong?
If there is a robot, letting it take care of deleting the broken redirects works for me.
I got a kind of tunnel vision, and created some articles losing sight of whether they could survive an {{afd}}. Hence the userification. I will be userifying additional articles. I leave a list of the existing redirects on the article's talk pages. That will help recreate any of the useful redirections when the articles are expanded and moved back to article space.
Thanks for asking.

Trumpet repertoire
Thanks for the article. I had in parallel started a stub that grouped them by type: User:DavidRF/Sandbox. I could go either way. Are you familiar with the other repertoire articles? I had looked at flute repertory but I'm not sure if there is a standard. Thanks. DavidRF (talk) 04:12, 22 March 2009 (UTC)
Santiago de los Treinta Caballeros
A page with the correct spelling exist Santiago de los Treinta Caballeros which is redirected to Santiago de los Caballeros This new page that I tag for deletion misspelled "Trienta". So there is no need for a new blank page, with the incorrect spelling.--Juliaaltagracia (talk) 05:08, 22 March 2009 (UTC)
- It's not a blank page, it redirects to Santiago de los Caballeros. One of the things redirects are used for is to help people get to the right page if they misspell something. Mispelling Treinta as Trienta is likely a common mispelling. This way they'll still get to the same destination. Q T C 05:10, 22 March 2009 (UTC)
Sorry I dont think you are right. This is not google or yahoo. It is not correct. How many misspelled pages are people going to create. It is not right, people who don´t know how to spell will think that it is also a variant of the word. I will not leave a page like this existing in Wikipedia. --Juliaaltagracia (talk) 05:20, 22 March 2009 (UTC)
- There are redirects from misspelled words all over Wikipedia. It is actually one of the official reasons for redirecting a page (See WP:Redirect#What do we use redirects for?). I think it's fine to keep it that way. --jhanCRUSH 05:23, 22 March 2009 (UTC)
- This way if somebody *does* misspell the word, they're sent to the right page instead of thinking "Oh hey, there's nothing here, I'll write something" and we end up with two pages about the same thing but one is spelled wrong. As jhanCRUSH pointed out above, this is one of the things they're meant to be used for. Q T C 05:26, 22 March 2009 (UTC)
I really can´t believe my eyes. the page is not necessary. It was created today. Nobody will really look for the name of Santiago de los Treinta Caballeros. I´m from the Dominican Republic, people just say Santiago or Santiago de los Caballeros. Sorry I don´t agree and don´t think it is right to encourage misspelled words. --Juliaaltagracia (talk) 05:32, 22 March 2009 (UTC)
- I don't see how pointing them to the correct place when the do misspell something is encouraging misspelled words. I see it more as helping people know what the correct spelling/names are. While people local to the article may pronounce/say it a certain way, Wikipedia is not targeted to a specific area and we must try to make it accessible to a wide range of people as possible.
