Welcome to Wikipedia!

edit

Hello, Dilljl248. Welcome to Wikipedia! Thanks for your contributions. My name is Howicus, and I've been an editor here for some time. Here are a few links to pages you might find helpful:

If you're working on creating a new article, you should take a look at this page on your first article, and use the article wizard here to get started. Also, this page has instructions on how to cite sources, complete with videos.

If all this Wikicode is a little overwhelming, this cheatsheet may help untangle it.

If you're looking for a tutorial of sorts, The Wikipedia Adventure is a good option.

And if you need more help, I'd recommend asking at the Teahouse (a help page for new users). Or, you could try getting live help at the Wikipedia help chat channel: click here to join. Additionally, you could ask me on my talk page, or click here to ask for help here on your talk page and a volunteer will visit you here shortly

Please remember to sign your messages on talk pages by typing four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically insert your username and the date. Again, welcome, and have fun editing! Howicus (Did I mess up?) 03:09, 26 February 2020 (UTC)Reply

Important Notice

edit

This is a standard message to notify contributors about an administrative ruling in effect. It does not imply that there are any issues with your contributions to date.

You have shown interest in post-1932 politics of the United States and closely related people. Due to past disruption in this topic area, a more stringent set of rules called discretionary sanctions is in effect. Any administrator may impose sanctions on editors who do not strictly follow Wikipedia's policies, or the page-specific restrictions, when making edits related to the topic.

For additional information, please see the guidance on discretionary sanctions and the Arbitration Committee's decision here. If you have any questions, or any doubts regarding what edits are appropriate, you are welcome to discuss them with me or any other editor.

Hello. Some of your recent genre changes, such as the one you made to The Bad Touch, have conflicted with our neutral point of view and/or verifiability policies. While we invite all users to contribute constructively to Wikipedia, we urge all editors to provide reliable sources for edits made. When others disagree, we recommend you seek consensus for certain edits by discussing the matter on the article's talk page. Thank you. Robvanvee 06:55, 10 May 2020 (UTC)Reply

Please refrain from adding, removing or changing genres, as you did to I Shot the Sheriff, without providing a source or establishing a consensus on the article's talk page first. Genre changes to suit your own point of view are considered disruptive. Robvanvee 08:04, 10 July 2020 (UTC)Reply

As it clearly states in Wikipedia:Genre warrior, partial attributions are not appropriate and amounts to WP:SYNTHESIS. The reference you provided states that their performance was "glam-pop", not that the song itself was glam-pop. The only time "glam rock" is actually used in the article, it is referencing that the style was "was at its peak", but that does not mean the song was either glam rock or glam pop. If you want to add this to the body of the article, particularly in the at Eurovision section (although the article about the Eurovision performance that is linked in the article you reference would make more sense there) that might make some sense, but the song's genre is never clearly discussed in the article. Please stop genre warring and please open a discussion if you're reverted. Walter Görlitz (talk) 20:34, 1 September 2020 (UTC)Reply

He mentioned this in one of his livestreams that this was his ancestry. What is the best way to source this? Dilljl248 (talk) 03:56, 1 October 2024 (UTC)Reply
The best way is to wait until uninvolved WP:SECONDARY sources pick up on the claim and cross-check it. Binksternet (talk) 04:10, 1 October 2024 (UTC)Reply
