When you remove the sources from Haile Selassie you break the existing references. Articles which use articles that use any of the short-cite templates ({{harv}} and {{sfn}} template families, and {{harvc}}) need the references to be defined in a Sources section with citation templates. If you remove the Sources youu break the references and cause the article to be added to Category:Harv and Sfn no-target errors. DuncanHill (talk) 22:03, 31 December 2023 (UTC)Reply

Yes i understand that, that's why i explained that anyone disagreeing should go to the talk page at the article, a user pointed out the Source and bibliography virtually are no different, + featured articles like Elizabeth II don't have "sources" Bibliography would serve as its source. CtasACT (talk) 22:23, 31 December 2023 (UTC)Reply
If you understand that you are breaking the references then what you are doing is vandalism. You must stop. DuncanHill (talk) 02:22, 1 January 2024 (UTC)Reply
No one is breaking the rules buddy, read the talk page: featured articles like Elizabeth II and don't have it: talk to User:Uncle G at Talk:Haile Selassie I, i don't need to deal with this shenanigans this article is currently a GA nominee so extra care would be needed CtasACT (talk) 02:38, 1 January 2024 (UTC)Reply
You obviously don't understand what you are doing. The subtitle given to a section doesn't matter. What matters is what the section does in the context of the rest of the article. The Sources section in Haile Selassie contains the definitions used by references in the body of the article. When you blank it you destroy those references. I have already given you links above that ought to help you understand. DuncanHill (talk) 02:43, 1 January 2024 (UTC)Reply
Hey you're missing the point, talk to User:Uncle G , if User:Uncle G has no problems with it i am fine, since again i don't want to deal with to different forces with possible contradicting statements if you have a problem talk to User:Uncle G not me CtasACT (talk) 02:47, 1 January 2024 (UTC)Reply
You're the one making the edits, not everyone's favorite uncle. ScottishFinnishRadish (talk) 02:48, 1 January 2024 (UTC)Reply
That's completely outside the conversation if you go to Haile Selassie's talk page you would see he "gave" and advice for the GA nominee, so if you have problems with it go to him, i have nothing to do with this CtasACT (talk) 02:50, 1 January 2024 (UTC)Reply
Since this is a GA nominee that specific user made a claim like you pals also make claims, i made an edit based on a GA Nominee advice, if you have genuine concerns you should forward those at the Haile Selassie talk page or User:Uncle G talk page CtasACT (talk) 02:51, 1 January 2024 (UTC)Reply
Hello @CtasACT - the other users are giving you good advice here, and I recommend taking it seriously. References can be difficult to format correctly and blowing off concerns about breaking them is not in the cooperative spirit that powers Wikipedia. —Ganesha811 (talk) 21:11, 2 January 2024 (UTC)Reply
Yes no, if you look at the Haile Selassie talk page i am getting details on what to improve, it's that i don't have time to implement them now, if you could add am edit of citations improvement, and do so it would really take pressure off me, if not i can add those fixs maybe today or tomorrow most likely. Since again most of the editors have years of experience i have no say at a knowledge an practical level so yes i will take those advices seriously. CtasACT (talk) 19:11, 3 January 2024 (UTC)Reply
You shouldn't feel pressure to edit Wikipedia! Every change is revertible, and we're not in a rush. Take time, read over the advice, and make improvements whenever you feel you have time and energy to do so. So no pressure - just do what you enjoy, as long as it's an improvement! —Ganesha811 (talk) 19:41, 3 January 2024 (UTC)Reply

Edit War Warning on Ethiopia page

edit

Your recent editing history shows that you are currently engaged in an edit war; that means that you are repeatedly changing content back to how you think it should be, when you have seen that other editors disagree. To resolve the content dispute, please do not revert or change the edits of others when you are reverted. Instead of reverting, please use the talk page to work toward making a version that represents consensus among editors. The best practice at this stage is to discuss, not edit-war; read about how this is done. If discussions reach an impasse, you can then post a request for help at a relevant noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, you may wish to request temporary page protection.

Being involved in an edit war can result in you being blocked from editing—especially if you violate the three-revert rule, which states that an editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. Undoing another editor's work—whether in whole or in part, whether involving the same or different material each time—counts as a revert. Also keep in mind that while violating the three-revert rule often leads to a block, you can still be blocked for edit warring—even if you do not violate the three-revert rule—should your behavior indicate that you intend to continue reverting repeatedly.

Notice of edit warring noticeboard discussion

edit

  Hello. This message is being sent to inform you that there is currently a discussion involving you at Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Edit warring regarding a possible violation of Wikipedia's policy on edit warring. Thank you. LeenchaOromia (talk) 00:08, 2 February 2024 (UTC)Reply

But at least you are smart to leave your tracks closed, and didn't revert my edit based on the fact i would have reported you on your clear bad faith editing. CtasACT (talk) 00:21, 2 February 2024 (UTC)Reply

You have been blocked from editing for a period of one week for edit warring. Once the block has expired, you are welcome to make useful contributions.
During a dispute, you should first try to discuss controversial changes and seek consensus. If that proves unsuccessful, you are encouraged to seek dispute resolution, and in some cases it may be appropriate to request page protection.
If you think there are good reasons for being unblocked, please review Wikipedia's guide to appealing blocks, then add the following text to the bottom of your talk page: {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}.  Daniel Case (talk) 03:22, 3 February 2024 (UTC)Reply

Introduction to contentious topics

edit

You have recently edited a page related to the Horn of Africa (defined as including Ethiopia, Somalia, Eritrea, Djibouti, and adjoining areas if involved in related disputes), a topic designated as contentious. This is a brief introduction to contentious topics and does not imply that there are any issues with your editing.

A special set of rules applies to certain topic areas, which are referred to as contentious topics. These are specially designated topics that tend to attract more persistent disruptive editing than the rest of the project and have been designated as contentious topics by the Arbitration Committee. When editing a contentious topic, Wikipedia’s norms and policies are more strictly enforced, and Wikipedia administrators have special powers in order to reduce disruption to the project.

Within contentious topics, editors should edit carefully and constructively, refrain from disrupting the encyclopedia, and:

  • adhere to the purposes of Wikipedia;
  • comply with all applicable policies and guidelines;
  • follow editorial and behavioural best practice;
  • comply with any page restrictions in force within the area of conflict; and
  • refrain from gaming the system.

Editors are advised to err on the side of caution if unsure whether making a particular edit is consistent with these expectations. If you have any questions about contentious topics procedures you may ask them at the arbitration clerks' noticeboard or you may learn more about this contentious topic here. You may also choose to note which contentious topics you know about by using the {{Ctopics/aware}} template.

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Haile Selassie, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page The Telegraph. Disputed non-free use rationale for File:Sir Akira Toriyama.jpg

edit

Thank you for uploading File:Sir Akira Toriyama.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this file on Wikipedia may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the file description page and adding or clarifying the reason why the file qualifies under this policy. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Non-free use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your file is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a non-free use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for files used under the non-free content policy require both a copyright tag and a non-free use rationale.

If it is determined that the file does not qualify under the non-free content policy, it might be deleted by an administrator seven days after the file was tagged in accordance with section F7 of the criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you. TarkusABtalk/contrib 02:48, 12 March 2024 (UTC)Reply

Ivanka Trump

edit

@CtasACT I have seen that you have passed Ivanka Trump's article as GA but did you go through the details? Further you seem to have not added the article's name under the Social Sciences and Society section of the page which lists all the good articles. Also I had suggest that you reassess the article and possibly seek help from Tim O'Doherty for that reason. Once the article's name is added by you, being the reviewer, on the GOOD ARTICLES page and the talk page is updated with the fact that the article was passed as GA on that day, I hope to get a message from ChristieBot. Regards MSincccc (talk) 09:39, 18 March 2024 (UTC)Reply

Will do! CtasACT (talk) 21:00, 18 March 2024 (UTC)Reply
I messaged @Tim O'Doherty on the nomination, lets wait three days and if we don't get anybody else to join in, i will do as you said and add it as a pass and ChristieBot would give you the message of the pass. CtasACT (talk) 21:21, 18 March 2024 (UTC)Reply
I was notified by @Chipmunkdavis that this Ivanka Trump article fails on Proseline, go to WP:Proseline and go to the "Example of a proseline and a possible resolution" within 1-2 days this should be quick enough to edit and then i would view this article worthy enough to nominate and add my final seal of approval, again you have a 2-3 day time frame but be quick CtasACT (talk) 02:17, 19 March 2024 (UTC)Reply
@MSincccc, after this GA review could you by March 22 or March 23 help @SweaTheSerg by helping out on the references given on Haile Selassie page, the convo is "Talk:Haile Selassie/GA2," @SweaTheSerg has concluded the majority of the criteria for the GA has been met, but they are asking for a second person, i figured you could help out by simply looking at the Sources and if or not they meet the WP:RS criteria, so this article that i have hardly worked on could be given a GA status, and even looking at the sources you could tell me on what to improve and if not then the Haile Selassie article would be awarded the GA status! CtasACT (talk) 23:01, 19 March 2024 (UTC)Reply
@CtasACT The WP:Proseline and Cultural Depictions section-related issues have been fully resolved. I think you are good to go ahead and pass the article as GA-class given those were the only problems that the others had outlined as being a hindrance to the article's quality. A pass by tomorrow will be greatly appreciated as I would not be much active till the coming Monday being a middle school student. Regards MSincccc (talk) 17:41, 20 March 2024 (UTC)Reply
@MSincccc Thanks now i will pass it, and on a side note thanks for letting me know about your situation, again you do not need to analyze Haile Selassie's entire article only review the references and if they meet the WP:RS criteria, all the sources again are from Well published media, and barely any original sources and from books, but finalizing my statement, we need a third person to review it, @SweaTheSerg has concluded almost every criteria meets the GA status, but they need help for the references please by March 25 or Monday at Maximum give your verdict on the Haile Selassie references. I have worked months on this project and i would appreciate it heavily if you help me out following Wiki's policy on the way also.! Here is the link to join the conversion link: Talk:Haile Selassie/GA2. Again i would like to thank you for improvements on Mrs. Trump, and i would appreciate it if you could join the convo i linked! CtasACT (talk) 00:10, 21 March 2024 (UTC)Reply
@CtasACT Thanks a lot. Looking forward to seeing Haile Selassie being passed as GA as well. Regards MSincccc (talk) 04:48, 21 March 2024 (UTC)Reply
@CtasACT Congratulations on your first GA and glad that Векочел helped you out with the source review. By the way, would you mind collaborating with me again by reviewing the article Karlie Kloss. The article is currently being reviewed by another user but feel free to help me out of possible. My other GA nomination is presently being reviewed by an inactive user. Hence, I felt that I should nominate this article, of which I am a significant contributor both in terms of edits and authorship. I still appreciate your work with Ivanka Trump's GA. Looking forward to a positive response and to our future collaborations, MSincccc (talk) 17:56, 29 March 2024 (UTC)Reply
@CtasACT Would you mind taking up Mark Zuckerberg's article, which I recently nominated for GA, for review? I would greatly appreciate it if you could given the article's in American English which I am not as familiar with being British. Regards MSincccc (talk) 10:29, 13 April 2024 (UTC)Reply

Replaceable non-free use File:Devon Larratt.jpg

edit

Thanks for uploading File:Devon Larratt.jpg. I noticed that this file is being used under a claim of non-free use. However, I think that the way it is being used fails the first non-free content criterion. This criterion states that files used under claims of non-free use may have no free equivalent; in other words, if the file could be adequately covered by a freely-licensed file or by text alone, then it may not be used on Wikipedia. If you believe this file is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the file description page and add the text {{Di-replaceable non-free use disputed|<your reason>}} below the original replaceable non-free use template, replacing <your reason> with a short explanation of why the file is not replaceable.
  2. On the file's talk page, write a full explanation of why you believe the file is not replaceable.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media item by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by creating new media yourself (for example, by taking your own photograph of the subject).

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these media fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification, per the non-free content policy. Speedy deletion nomination of File:Haile Selassie I.png

A tag has been placed on File:Haile Selassie I.png requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F9 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a copyright violation and has no credible claim of fair use or permission. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images taken from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use it — which means allowing other people to use it for any reason — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. The same holds if you are not the owner but have their permission. If you are not the owner and do not have permission, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for how you may obtain it. You might want to look at Wikipedia's copyright policy for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion".   Please do not remove the {{copyvio/core}} template from articles, as you did with National Intelligence and Security Service. Your action has been reverted. For legal reasons, we cannot accept non-free text or images borrowed from other websites or printed material; such additions will be deleted, and removing copyright notices will not help your case. You can properly contest the deletion at Wikipedia:Copyright problems. If you are the owner of the material, you may release the material under the Creative Commons and GFDL licenses, as detailed at WP:IOWN. Alternatively, you are welcome to create a draft in your own words at Talk:National Intelligence and Security Service/Temp. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators and/or removers of the copyright notice templates will be blocked from editing. ~~ AirshipJungleman29 (talk) 10:29, 15 September 2024 (UTC)Reply
