NFL tiebreak edit

edit

Thanks for your rewording of the tiebreak on NO/CAR/ATL. I worded it the way I did only because in the past I kind of got into an edit war with another user who seems to feel ownership of the page, but who clearly does not understand how 3-way ties work by the NFL rules. I forget the exact scenario (and I guess it doesn't really matter) but espn actually had it wrong on their site. Teams were in the right order, but the explanation was off. So I rewrote it to correctly show one team "dropping out" of the tiebreaker, similar to Atlanta in the current standings. The other guy aruged with me about it because "espn says so" even though it was inaccurate. Anyway, I wrote this one in a way that I thought might avoid the same edit war happening. Hopefully, it will stand they way you have it. LarryJeff (talk) 21:23, 19 December 2022 (UTC)Reply

@LarryJeff: It's all right. I admittedly did not know how 3-ways ties worked until I went to NFL.com to read the tiebreaking procedures https://www.nfl.com/standings/tie-breaking-procedures. I found the 2012 NFC South tiebreakers to be similar (CAR/NO/TB all went 7-9), and used that as a reference. If someone disagrees and wants to edit war, just use that as an example. I agree with you the ESPN explanation is inaccurate. Nice talking to you. Bluejay14 (talk) 22:44, 19 December 2022 (UTC)Reply
By the way, I sorta had a feeling that this was going to confuse people, which is why I included a WP:COMMENT in my edit. Bluejay14 (talk) 23:02, 19 December 2022 (UTC)Reply

Thanks a lot for editing {{2023 AFC standings}} and {{2023 NFC standings}}. I actually had a real long weekend personally, so someone being helpful and kind is just really appreciated. In addition to the fact that I get so frustrated having to fix so many tables and I've had the same conversation again and again for years. Teamwork makes the dream work. ―Justin (koavf)TCM 02:32, 28 November 2023 (UTC)Reply

I understand. It's just a matter of being flexible and finding ways to help. Bluejay14 (talk) 03:21, 28 November 2023 (UTC)Reply
Agreed. That's the WikiWay working. 200 barnstars for you, my friend. And here's hoping that the Mariners win the Series someday soon and you get back the SuperSonics. ―Justin (koavf)TCM 05:50, 28 November 2023 (UTC)Reply
Same to you with the Pacers winning the Finals. I've seen one Mariners playoff run so far (born a few months after the 2001 ALCS). Sonics left when I was a little kid, but I continued rooting for OKC until Durant left. Hope the Colts and Seahawks both see a SB again soon. Patriots dominated for far too long. With respect and love to the actual human beings who are in the Patriots organization, the Patriots as a franchise can take a long walk off a short pier. ―Justin (koavf)TCM 06:40, 28 November 2023 (UTC)Reply
Lol. I enjoy seeing them lose, but they might be bad enough to get some franchise changers now. Assuming this is Bill's last year so he won't get a chance to bomb the draft. Bluejay14 (talk) 07:00, 28 November 2023 (UTC)Reply
As someone who is a pretty casual sports fan, there is maybe a 3% chance that my last words will be "18–1". The Patriots would honestly be out of their minds to fire Belicheck, as there is a 0% chance of them replacing him with a better coach, but upper management and ownership of sports franchises are generally known for seeking what makes money now over what makes strategic sense for a community asset. Anyway. ―Justin (koavf)TCM 08:13, 28 November 2023 (UTC)Reply
