Crest vs. Coat of Arms

edit

Thank you for the work that you are doing with fraternity coat of arms and sizing. However for Delta Chi, I noticed that you named the new file "Crest". As shown in http://deltachi.org/wp-content/uploads/2014/09/2003-SummerFall.pdf and in the wikipedia article on Crest (heraldry), the Crest is only the part of the Coat of Arms at the top and as such is inappropriate as a description. I work on getting brothers of my own fraternity to do this correctly as well.Naraht (talk) 10:50, 14 May 2018 (UTC)Reply

Hey thanks for pointing this out, I realize I referred to a number of them as both crests and coat of arms. Is there any way I can change the names of some of these recent uploads? Azure1233 (talk) 15:24, 31 May 2021 (UTC)Reply
May not be worth it, see Wikipedia:File_mover for valid reasons. Also, you may want to comment on my request at Template Talk:Infobox fraternity. I'm heading out from work may be several hours or more before I get back on.Naraht (talk) 19:58, 14 May 2018 (UTC)Reply

Infobox Fraternity type.

edit

For the Infobox Fraternity, Type represents a *few* specific types, in the manner that Baird's Manual of College Fraternities uses. For example, Kappa Alpha, Alpha Gamma Delta and Delta Sigma Theta should simply be Social; Alpha Chi Sigma should be Professional (emphasis Chemistry), etc.Naraht (talk) 17:21, 4 June 2018 (UTC)Reply

Nicknames

edit

Given the you want to change the nicknames to use the free label, I'm going to change so that both Nickname and Nicknames are valid fields with the display text changed appropriately. Please hold off on the free_label additions until I complete that, OK?Naraht (talk) 21:26, 10 October 2018 (UTC)Reply

Copying within Wikipedia requires attribution

edit

Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you copied or moved text from San Diego into Sports in San Diego. While you are welcome to re-use Wikipedia's content, here or elsewhere, Wikipedia's licensing does require that you provide attribution to the original contributor(s). When copying within Wikipedia, this is supplied at minimum in an edit summary at the page into which you've copied content, disclosing the copying and linking to the copied page, e.g., copied content from [[page name]]; see that page's history for attribution. It is good practice, especially if copying is extensive, to also place a properly formatted {{copied}} template on the talk pages of the source and destination. Please provide attribution for this duplication if it has not already been supplied by another editor, and if you have copied material between pages before, even if it was a long time ago, you should provide attribution for that also. You can read more about the procedure and the reasons at Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia. Thank you. — Diannaa (talk) 20:55, 3 February 2022 (UTC)Reply

Phi Gamma Delta

edit

The Infobox fraternity on Phi Gamma Delta probably had more discussion than any other GLO. The Common/Limited is already at 85% as part of the span command. If you'd like to change the header *please* bring it up on the talk page, and start a section on WT:FRAT to let people know. I'm not trying to WP:BITE, but just letting you know that is a particularly discussed area. (Could be worse, you could have tried to get rid of the greek letters on that page. :) )Naraht (talk) 02:47, 20 September 2023 (UTC)Reply
