Your rollback request
editHello AlexWaelde! Unfortunately, after a look at Special:Contributions/AlexWaelde, you haven't done much vandal-fighting yet, so I can't really judge how well you'd use the rollback tool. However, if you read up on vandalism, and practice reverting vandalism with the undo feature to gain experience and demonstrate knowledge of vandalism reversion, then come back to me in a couple of days to a week and I'll re-evaluate you then. Best wishes. Acalamari 22:11, 23 March 2009 (UTC)

Riverside High School changes
editHi AlexWaelde, please read WP:WPSCH/AG, then come over to Talk:Riverside High School (South Carolina) and discuss any concerns you may have concerning my changes (or any other changes). They've been done to bring the article inline with the school guidelines and WP:NPOV. tedder (talk) 03:25, 30 September 2009 (UTC)
Thanks
edithey thanks for the pointers. i have reviewed WP:WPSCH/AG and appreciate your help with the page. if i need any more help ill let you know. Edited By Alex Waelde (talk) 03:51, 30 September 2009 (UTC)
- No problem. BTW, the notable alumni will need to go; generally, "notable" means "notable worldwide", not "notable at the school". The shortcut to this is (a) there should have a wikipedia article about them, or (b) they precisely conform to WP:BIO (and WP:GNG). So Alex Waelde wouldn't be "notable", but Bill Haas is.
- If you want, I'll be glad to show you my shortcut technique for cleaning lists of that sort. tedder (talk) 05:29, 30 September 2009 (UTC)

editHello. In case you didn't know, when you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion, such as on User talk:137.22.113.174, you should sign your posts by typing four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment. You may also click on the signature button located above the edit window. This will automatically insert a signature with your username or IP address and the time you posted the comment. This information is useful because other editors will be able to tell who said what, and when. Thank you. Eeekster (talk) 08:12, 2 October 2009 (UTC)

Your rollback request
editHi there AlexWaelde! Yes, you have improved greatly since I last evaluated you, and based on your recent reverts, I have granted rollback rights to your account in accordance with your request. Please be aware that rollback should be used to revert vandalism/spam/blatantly unconstructive edits, and that using it to revert anything else (by revert-warring or reverting edits you disagree with) can lead to it being removed from your account...sometimes without any warning, depending on the admin. For practice, you may wish to see Wikipedia:New admin school/Rollback. Good luck, and thanks for taking my advice! Acalamari 20:18, 2 October 2009 (UTC)

Regarding the deleted articles Krista Wells and The Military Spouse Coach
editRegarding the deleted articles at Krista Wells and The Military Spouse Coach, hopefully you remember the sequence of edits that occurred. Your revert of User:Kristawells blanking the page and subsequent warnings to her was not the correct thing to do. Since she was the original author of the article and she blanked the article, the correct thing to do was to re-tag the article with {{db-author}} and not issue any warning. -- Gogo Dodo (talk) 04:54, 4 October 2009 (UTC)

editHi Alex. I'd be grateful if you'd revert your reversion to the this article. I don't know how to do it myself. If you look at the top of the page, you'll see there is a requirement for references. That's exactly what I'm putting in. Give it a couple of hours and you'll see what I mean.
KJP1 (talk) 06:43, 4 October 2009 (UTC)
Don't worry, I've done it myself. What I'm trying to do, as per the request for references, is add them and improve the article as I go along. If you'll assume good faith for a bit, you'll see that the article will be improved.
Many thanks.

revert re: jumps seats
editI've twice tried to correct what is obviously an error -- the line suggesting that the Kennedys were in the jump seats. Whoever wrote that must mean the Connollys, who were sitting ahead of the Kennedys in the jump seats. This is not an act of vandalism; it's a legitimate correction.
Chris
- It is not a correction to add non-cited questionable data to an article. if you are discussing the what ifs of something use the talk page for the article not the article itself. also ALL CAPS is not proper formatting for a wiki article please see WP:Style

Please do not revert this latest edit to Stow-Munroe Falls High School. This latest edit (net-sum of several previous edits) is wholly meant to be constructive. Hi there. I just noticed an edit you made to this article - it was vandalised by an anonymous IP, and it looks like both you and User:Capt. James T. Kirk tried to revert it at the same time. The end result was you reverting his edit, and restoring the vandalism! ([1]) I've reverted again to fix the problem, but I just thought I should point this out - it's easy to misuse rollback by mistake (I've done it a few times), so it's always worth checking your edits afterwards. :) Happy editing. I created a page Wvcst and redirect it to Western Visayas College of Science and Technology. But since Wvcst is an acronym I would want it to change to WVCST...how am i able gonna do it. Thanks.

- ok i have examined the issue and can help you with this. it seems that we don't have to worry about the lowercase page because it has been erased. the page was erased because you're trying to create a redirect to a page that doesn't exist. if you would like to create the Western Visayas College of Science and Technology page, we could then discuss a redirect. now another issue we have our hands is that the last time you tried to make the Western Visayas College of Science and Technology is was marked for speedy deletion under article G11. please make sure that you create a factual article and NOT AN AD. remember to not violate Wiki's Spam Policy. if you need help writing your article let me know.

Speedy deletions
editHi Alex, I've just removed speedy deletion tags from the last handful of articles that you have nominated, because none of them come near meeting the criteria at WP:CSD. Please familiarise yourself with this policy before making any more speedy deletion nominations. Phil Bridger (talk) 19:02, 15 October 2009 (UTC)
- Could you please let me know some of the specific pages that you removed my speedy deletion tags from. i am familiar with the policy and all the nominations i gave were justified by the specific criterion.
>>>> Posted By Alex Waelde (Leave Me A Messgae) 21:12, 15 October 2009 (UTC)- You can see the specific pages here, with edit summaries saying why they don't meet the criteria. And, I'm sorry, but most of these come nowhere near meeting the criteria for speedy deletion. Please listen to advice from more experienced editors rather than claim to be familiar with policy. By nominating these articles for speedy deletion you are discouraging editors from contributing to Wikipedia. Phil Bridger (talk) 21:26, 15 October 2009 (UTC)

Hello, I may not have near the experience of the other editors here, but I was shocked that you nominated an article related to Dame Shirley Bassey for speedy deletion. The article in question is here 'Disco' La Passione that also features Chris Rea, and was very close to a top 40 hit. Though from what I understand the article was brand new, not fully fleshed out when you nominated it for speedy deletion, and you quite properly suggested to the author that he use the sandbox first, Shirley Bassey is the most successful female recording artist in British history, and while that doesn't make every single she ever issued noteworthy, many are, which I think should have given you pause to nominate this article for speedy deletion. The critera that you used, A7, states "This criterion applies only to articles about web content and to articles about people, organizations, and individual animals themselves, not to articles about their books, albums, software, or other creative works." So I don't think this criteria applies to one of her recordings, and A9 states "An article about a musical recording that does not indicate why its subject is important or significant and where the artist's article does not exist. (My emphasis).--Nyctc7 (talk) 17:33, 17 October 2009 (UTC) you placed an incorrect speedy or prod on
- the internationally famous company Soyuzneftegaz
- a man who attempted to kill a prime minsister Ferdinand Cohen-Blind & is thus historically notable.
- Lester Hyman a man with an exceeding distinguished career that just needs rewriting to give a less promotional tone.
among others.
The purpose of checking new articles is to try to rescue as many poor ones as possible, and to delete the ones that cannot possibly be rescued--there are considerable numbers of each. Please read WP:Deletion policy and in particular WP:BEFORE. Nobody can actually improve them all by themselves, but what we can to is place the necessary tags for improvement--and if practical leave a specific personal note to the author about what to do to fix it. Lacking references is not a reason for deletion--unreferenceable is, and that can only be shown if you check yourself--at least a superficial check on Google if it seems appropriate for the article. (and if you check & find nothing, say so). The distinction between speedy and prod can be reasonably clear, & if it is not, it is not a speedy: if there is any sign of notability it is not speedy A7, and if it is promotional but capable of rewriting it is not G11 promotional. Speedy deletion is for the obviously hopeless. I see you are be using automated tools like twinkle--this is very convenient--I use it myself--but it makes it possible to go much too fast to check properly. I did not start using it until after several years of experience here --maybe that was excessively cautious, but you should not be using it yet, at least not for any purpose except placing tags for improvements. If you continue going as you have, an administrator has the right to require you to stop using it altogether. DGG ( talk ) 04:14, 18 October 2009 (UTC)
- I appreciate all the criticism and i will accept it as constructive. i agree with you DGG, twinkle is a tool that makes things go really fast i accept that i slip up but please everyone notice all the tags i have done that are good. on top of successfully going through about a half a month of backlogged new pages. i will slow down some on the Speedy Deletion tagging to assure no more mistagging. Nyctc7, i still stand by what i said, the author should have had everything together before the initial publication of the article. all i had to go on is what i could see before me. i am not a mind reader. i'm glad to see that the article is shaping up nicely. and as far as the wrong tagging goes, that can be contributed to me going to quickly through articles. but quite frankly at the time, the article was properly tagged. unless there is anything else i will get back to editing, happy editing to all of you guys.

- Fine. But remember there is no requirement that an article be built completely before entering it. I myself write my articles in mainspace, usually saving after a sentence or two, and then continuing--naturally I have enough experience to say enough there to make the notability clear, but inexperienced people may not. One thing to check is how recently the article has been written. I too often check the log of new pages from the end, and then the question is whether an article has been abandoned as undoable, or forgotten. The way to see is to do a quick look yourself for sources, and look in particular at the subject's web site to get some idea if an article can likely be written about it. If you think it can, either do it or remind the author or tag it-- & perhaps bring it to the attention of the relevant workgroup. If you think it cannot, then prod is applicable. You are not expected to be a mind reader, but you are expected to at least check any sources and web sites cited, and also the googles. Remember, checking NP is not really to weed out bad articles, but divide the hopeless from the possibly acceptable. There is of course a built in bias, because deletion is very much easier than fixing. Keep up the work, but I suggest doing it in small batches. DGG ( talk ) 14:56, 19 October 2009 (UTC)

edithi. i notice that you have reverted my edit on the talk page for the giant clam article because you felt that it was "unconstructive." i'm not sure that it was unconstructive; i was attempting to point out that the article had been vandalized and that i, not having any sort of nifty editing privileges, would not be able to fix it. i was sort of hoping that someone (like yourself, perhaps!) would see that edit and fix the article, although i notice that the article has not been fixed yet, so maybe i'm just pissing into the wind here. anyway, just wanted to explain myself and point out some vandalization that needs fixing, no hard feelings. 75.118.75.118 (talk) 06:30, 14 January 2010 (UTC)

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. The file File:ThePatGrillsFund.jpg has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
Unused logo with no article used, it's also can't move to commons because of an unused logo will be deleted as of out of project scope.
While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated files}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the file's talk page.
Please consider addressing the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated files}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and files for discussion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Willy1018 (talk) 11:15, 3 January 2019 (UTC)

This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment.
