Re: "Disturbingly Revealing Editor Comments"

I love it when an anonymous user telegraphs their intentions with a "disturbingly revealing" headline like this one. For the life of me, though, I cannot figure out who he is referring to... it does not seem to be you, and I do not think it is me. But, one of us has raised his ire, which I take as a badge of honour. I am tempted, though, to delete it in its entirety, since, as you pointed out, the talk page is not there for the purpose of indulging a nut's sermonizing. Cheers! ---RepublicanJacobiteThe'FortyFive' 01:38, 11 March 2008 (UTC)

Some of the people editing that article and talk page need help. AgnosticPreachersKid (talk) 01:41, 11 March 2008 (UTC)
Quite so! Present company, of course, excepted. ---RepublicanJacobiteThe'FortyFive' 04:41, 11 March 2008 (UTC)

Otto4711 and "vandalism"

I've left an explanation of the events that led to Otto's block on his talk page. In reviewing things I note that you called his re-adding the redlinks "vandalism". Please be careful of that? I myself was called to task at Wikipedia:Requests for adminship/SatyrTN for labeling something vandalism, so it's a subject that's .. tender for me to deal with. It's very easy, when we deal with so many vandals (as on the LGBT articles) to sling the word around. But especially for established editors, being called a vandal can be close to an attack. Just bringing it to your attention. -- SatyrTN (talk / contribs) 06:34, 10 March 2008 (UTC)

I already replied on his talk page after you left him the comment. I won't call it vandalism, just being stubborn since it was obvious red letters from deleted images don't look right on an article. AgnosticPreachersKid (talk) 06:53, 10 March 2008 (UTC)

Al-Gayda

File:Nihang Singh with Big Turban.jpg
Al-Gayda?

More violent than Al-Qaeda (they'll scratch your eyes out with their manicured nails), more bitchy than Omarosa (they make her look like an angel), and more stylish than Tim Gunn...there is now proof this group exists. See comments made by Sally Kern for proof of how dangerous the gays and lesbyterians really are. I felt compelled to add it so others could be warned. AgnosticPreachersKid (talk) 04:09, 11 March 2008 (UTC)

Al-Gayda would be the ones who don't like folks pointing out the Boy Scouts homophobic policy. - ALLSTAR echo 18:13, 11 March 2008 (UTC)
I am offended by this conversation thread. No one is bitchier than Omarosa (although "New York" certainly comes close). --House of Scandal (talk) 19:27, 11 March 2008 (UTC)

I wasn't familiar with Omarosa. I think I've just collected another example of the difference between notability and importance. Aleta Sing 19:43, 11 March 2008 (UTC)
WP is so full of biographical articles of people that are not important. AgnosticPreachersKid (talk) 19:45, 11 March 2008 (UTC)
That's a fact! I basically understand why we have the notability requirement, but it's a flawed criterion. We have notable people who aren't ultimately important, and don't have important people that don't pass the notability test. Aleta Sing 19:51, 11 March 2008 (UTC)
I just want to know what exactly is under that turban. Seriously? Is it like a turtle shell with all the amenities of a fine hotel?? - ALLSTAR echo 19:53, 11 March 2008 (UTC)

Ted Haggard and Ex-gay

There's a discussion on the talk page of that article about whether he should be included. You may wish to join that. JoshuaZ (talk) 20:19, 11 March 2008 (UTC)

I know and the argument being made that Ted Haggard doesn't belong in the People who "relapsed" section when the evidence shows just that, is odd and makes me wonder the reason why it's being removed. AgnosticPreachersKid (talk) 20:23, 11 March 2008 (UTC)
As I explained there, Haggard doesn't claim to be someone who was gay and was then cured. He's not an ex-gay. Furthermore, we have minimal evidence of relapse. This smacks serious or original research and other issues. JoshuaZ (talk) 20:29, 11 March 2008 (UTC)
That's your opinion of "minimal evidence." 1, 2, 3, etc. If he's not an "ex-gay," then why did he enter these so-called treatment preograms? This smacks serious of people that want to pick away any criticism of the so-called movement. Also, in your edit summary where you reverted me, you said "multiple editors" agree. Um, last check there were 3, one being the guy who thinks he owns any article dealing with this subject because he claims to be cured of his homosexuality. AgnosticPreachersKid (talk) 20:47, 11 March 2008 (UTC)

Are you kidding around?

No, numerous reports mentioned that one of the reasons the boy was shot was because he gave the suspected shooter a Valentine's Day card. Here is a clip of Ellen mentioning it. I'm reverting your removal of the IP's message because it was a legitimate question and not trolling. AgnosticPreachersKid (talk) 00:57, 12 March 2008 (UTC)
Ok, but next time could you not use a section title like "are you kidding around" because I have no reason to kid around about a subject like that. Thanks. AgnosticPreachersKid (talk) 01:10, 12 March 2008 (UTC)

There has been quite alot of activity on the Sally Kern article...enough that it's now been semi-protected. On the talk page, someone added a link to this clip from Ellen. Theist/atheist?

I just noticed that your text says you're a theist, but you're in Category:Atheist Wikipedians. (I have no problem with the combination of agnostic with either of those terms, as you can probably guess from my userpage, so that's not my question.)

Hmmm, how did I get on that list? Yeah, I'm an agnostic theist (an oxy to some). I'd rather be listed in the Category:Agnostic Wikipedians. Lemme figure out how to switch it. I tried editing the page to add my name, but that doesn't seem to be the way to do it. AgnosticPreachersKid (talk) 23:36, 14 March 2008 (UTC)
I don't see my name on the atheist list anymore. Did you remove it? How do I add my name to the agnostic list? AgnosticPreachersKid (talk) 23:37, 14 March 2008 (UTC)
One of your userboxes must put you in it. Maybe the one that says you'd rather there were no religion? You are in the atheist cat under U (for User:Agn...) You can see your name in the list here. You can either add [[Category:Agnostic Wikipedians]] to your userpage to put yourself in that category, or you can use one of the agnostic userboxes, like the one I have on my page. Aleta Sing 23:44, 14 March 2008 (UTC)
Oh, actually you already are in that cat! Aleta Sing 23:46, 14 March 2008 (UTC)

  • I'm so confused.... Basically, I believe in some kind of Supreme Being, maybe not the definition of God that Christians believe in, but I think the details of our bodies, animals, plants, earth and everything else is way too complicated and intricate to be explained by some Big Bang explosion or an "accident." But, I also believe there is no proof of a Supreme Being, and there never will be. It's all about faith and what you believe. It takes faith to believe in evolution, just as it does creationism. So basically, I believe in a God, but admit there's no proof. Make sense...kinda? AgnosticPreachersKid (talk) 00:48, 15 March 2008 (UTC)

I don't think I've once seen you get cross with anyone, edit war, etc. But I do want to prep you.. your total edit count is 7547. Kudos on Raleigh landmark pages!

When I created the Category:Buildings and structures in Raleigh, North Carolina category last week, I hoped it would soon blossom. I'm glad to see you're on the case, APK. Excellent work on your Joel Lane House, Mordecai House, and other great entries! You're one reason Wikipedia rocks! Mark Turner Jmturner (talk) 17:57, 15 March 2008 (UTC)

Thanks for the compliment. I've got a whole list of buildings I'm working on for the historic places in Wake County, so I'll be adding more in the near future. I'll have at least 2 more added by tomorrow. AgnosticPreachersKid (talk) 18:40, 15 March 2008 (UTC)
I've created the 2 articles I mentioned and added quite a few articles to the list. Are you wanting to count schools such as Ravenscroft School on that list or does it need to be a specific building since that schools has multiple buildings? Side note: I use to live a stone's throw away from that school. I miss Wake County. APK is thinking about moving back there. AgnosticPreachersKid (talk) 10:36, 16 March 2008 (UTC)
I don't think schools in general would be right for the list unless they have architectural or historical significance, but I'm open to debate on that. Murphey School, as Raleigh's first integrated school, could use a page. Needham B. Broughton High School has one but it is in desperate need of cleaning up. As for other places, I'd like to see Pullen House get a page. It's not on the NRHP but is significant to me, anyway.
You've got the content part covered for most of thes and its much appreciated! If you've got a list of needs, I'd be happy to snap some public domain photos of these landmarks. Spring is beginning to bloom here and its getting to be good photography weather! Jmturner (talk) 14:47, 16 March 2008 (UTC)
I need a picture of the new Raleigh Convention Center, if you get a chance. You mentioned historical schools. I'm going to write an article sometime in the next day or so for St. Mary's School (Raleigh), although it's listed as St. Mary's College on the National Register. I'm not sure if I should title it school or college. Do you know of some websites where I could get info to write about the Pullen House? I'm not seeing too much info at first glance. Raleigh Pronunciation

I notice you reverted my edit to change the pronunciation listed for Raleigh from "ral-ee" to "rhymes with trolley" and marked it as vandalism. I'm curious as to why. I'm born and raised in Durham and I've only heard "ral-ee" a few times from Canadians or Americans living in the upper midwest. 66.57.252.97 (talk) 22:47, 16 March 2008 (UTC)

I mistakenly marked it as vandalism because at the time, I was reverting vandalization on several articles and when I saw that edit from an IP it appeared to be a nonsense edit. Although it's not vandalism, I don't think adding "rhymes with trolley" is the best pronunciation to add. Also, I lived in NC most of my life and I'm not sure I see the problem with the current pronunciation. It appears to be the correct way to say it. That's fine, I don't think it's that important in the long run; but do you really think "ral-ee" (which I'm interpreting as "rally") is correct? That's like pronouncing Garner "gare-ner"... 66.57.252.97 (talk) 00:04, 17 March 2008 (UTC)

I'm interpreting it as "Rall-ee", so I'll add the extra L to clarify. AgnosticPreachersKid (talk) 01:32, 17 March 2008 (UTC)
Actually, adding the extra L really would make it sound like 'rally' so I'll leave the pronunciation as is. AgnosticPreachersKid (talk) 01:42, 17 March 2008 (UTC)
Maybe someone who knows IPA could add that as an unambiguous solution. Aleta Sing 01:43, 17 March 2008 (UTC)
This says rali. AgnosticPreachersKid (talk) 01:58, 17 March 2008 (UTC)
Ah, good find! (In the article, it looks like there's an extra symbol in the IPA compared to the wiktionary entry...?) Aleta Sing 02:07, 17 March 2008 (UTC)
I changed it. AgnosticPreachersKid (talk) 02:16, 17 March 2008 (UTC)

Administrators' noticeboard

Sorry AgnosticPreachersKid, but not this kind of user behavior. The WP:AIN is supposed to report on abnormal user behavior such as evasion of blocks, abuse of admin tools, persistent vandalism, persistent spamming. Again, these pages are not the place to raise disputes over content, or reports of abusive behavior. Please take such disputes to requests for comment, requests for mediation, or requests for arbitration rather than in the WP:AIN. And please, be communicative, You just left a message to SatyrTN. Cheers. --Mhsb (talk) 02:40, 17 March 2008 (UTC)

Sorry, but I'm very communicative, hence the number of edits I've left on talk pages. You left the message on Satyr's page, and so I responded there. There's no need to leave another message on your talk page to respond to a question on his page. If you know how WP works so well, then you would know that. Also you're telling me to "please take such disputes..." You're talking to the wrong person. I'm not the one that posted anything at AIN. All I did was state that you're incorrect when you said "reporting abusive behavior" does not belong in AIN, because that's exactly where it goes. I wasn't referring to your case, I meant in general. So please get your facts straight. All you did was copy and paste the response you left on other talk pages onto mine without checking to see if it actually applied to me. Last thing, you're wrong about the incident not belonging on AIN, see this for details. Cheers. AgnosticPreachersKid (talk) 04:28, 17 March 2008 (UTC)

NPA

This looks like a personal attack to me. Please be more cautious in the future. Dreadstar 20:33, 12 March 2008 (UTC)

Maybe I shouldn't have used that word, but it's obvious the guy is trolling on ASE's page because of the new userbox that he doesn't like. He doesn't seem to have a problem with the other userbox that actually uses the BSA logo and talks about not wanting to be associated with the organization. I find that hypocritical. He's on a mission to somehow prove that he's right and doesn't want any mention of the BSA's homophobic policies, even thought ASE's new userbox does not mention the BSA at all or use their logo. Other admins have mentioned they think it's ok the way it is. But that doesn't seem to be enough for him. After you left this same kind of comment on Justinm1978's page, he said "I shouldn't be stooping down to the same level." IMHO, that's B.S. He has been going after ASE for a few days now and is determined to get his way and leaving comments suggesting we're illiterate and suggesting that ASE is not willing to collaborate even though he has created the new userbox that is very neutral. I also find this hypocritical. I hope you and other admins can see that and I also hope your judgment is not swayed because you seem to agree with him. AgnosticPreachersKid (talk) 21:00, 12 March 2008 (UTC)
Agreed--particularly on the points re the new userbox and User:Justinm1978's own personal attack: "Again, reading is FUNdamental, and it's apparently a skill that you are lacking." Rachel Summers (talk) 21:15, 12 March 2008 (UTC)
I've already warned both users, [2]. If you have furhter complaints Rachel, please feel free to contact me directly on my talk page. Dreadstar 22:18, 12 March 2008 (UTC)

NC articles

I hope the NC project realizes what they have in you. You've really been cranking on those articles! Aleta Sing 05:27, 18 March 2008 (UTC)

Thanks. :-) I don't know if that project was more active at some point, but since I started editing, I haven't seen any type of communication or activity going on in the project. The only project member I've ever spoken to is Jayron32 (on second thought, he's not a member, just watches over some NC articles since he lives in Raleigh). I've been rating alot of articles for the project since it appears no one took the time to do that. I just add my new articles to the project list in hopes of someone that still watches the page will see and look over my articles for possible errors. I didn't get one of those cute Welcome banners or even a Hi when I joined. I guess I was spoiled by the LGBT project and the welcome I received. I have about 100 articles in my mind that need to be created. I just wish I had enough time and energy to create them all. I've still got to tweak the Raleigh article and some of the town articles in Wake County. I added alot of stuff (crap?) to most of the town articles already, but I need to go back over them with a fine comb. Also, there are soooo many articles that need overall maintenance, including my first article. AHHHHHHH! Am I the only person that feels torn about what Wikitask to do next? (I'm soooo not trying to come off as bragging, but I feel like I'm one of the few people doing anything on the NC articles, and god knows there are alot of them that need work.) AgnosticPreachersKid (talk) 05:40, 18 March 2008 (UTC)
Have you been nominating any of these articles you're creating for Did you know...'? That Lightner one you just wrote would be a great candidate for it, I'd think. Aleta Sing 05:46, 18 March 2008 (UTC)
No, I haven't nominated any of them but I was reading about the qualifications yesterday. I thought the same thing about Clarence Lightner, but I need a picture and maybe some more info for it to be long enough. I just e-mailed his Foundation to ask them to upload a picture. What else do you think needs to be done for it to be eligible for DYK? Right now, I think a good line would be "Did you know that Clarence Lightner was the first African-American mayor of a metropolitan Southern United States city?" or something like that. AgnosticPreachersKid (talk) 05:49, 18 March 2008 (UTC)
Looking through the requirements, it doesn't appear that it has to have a picture, although if you can get one, that would definitely improve the article. You've referenced a lot of it inline; if you could put some more inline refs, that might help... I haven't done it, so I don't know exactly what they look for in picking them. Something else that would be good to add, although I don't know if it makes any difference for DYK is an infobox, maybe a succession box for Raleigh mayors as well. Aleta Sing 06:03, 18 March 2008 (UTC)
Lemme figure out how to make one of those. I made one for Kimpton Hotels & Restaurant Group, but I'm not sure if they have one for mayors (although I guess a regular politican infobox would work). What do you mean by more inline refs? Me be confused. AgnosticPreachersKid (talk) 06:06, 18 March 2008 (UTC)
I just mean footnotes. It's late, and I'm tired. Aleta Sing 06:14, 18 March 2008 (UTC)
