Hi, my name is Geoff and I am a content creator.
Projects
editMy particular interest is to trap the history of a particular activity I was involved in during the early 60's, Electronic Counter-measures and to ensure that there is an adequate record of one Royal Air Force Signals Unit in particular, 112SU at Stornoway Airport, Outer Hebrides.
There has always been a conflict in writing about classified material, sites etc but fortunately, as the 30-year restraining period comes to an end and material is passed across to The National Archive then the record can be legitimately updated provided there are adequate cross-references. I do not like to see red-ink which shows there is a lack of referable material so I attempt to fill those gaps too as the main project is worked on. All of this means there is a lot of researching and reading to be done prior to writing which makes this activity an absorbing but very interesting past-time. I'm glad I'm retired!

The future
editTo complete writing a book around my experiences leading up to joining 112SU, throughout 112SU and my post-112SU activity. Also to get more actively involved with the appropriate historical societies and associations so there is adequate material available for future generations to research. As I live quite close to The National Archives at Kew, London then accessing the original documents can be very illuminating and the source of good cross-references. I
