Wikipedia Contributions

I've been reading Wikipedia since 2004, and I am pretty sure that this anonymous edit to Furman University on April 5th, 2004 was my first edit ever to Wikipedia. I joined Wikipedia officially on 9 May, 2005, and became an Administrator on October 14, 2005. I became less active in 2006, and was procedurally de-opped in 2013. During that time, I was making the occasional anon edit as I ran across typos while reading, and logging in on occasion if I found something that required admin action. When the policy changed to de-op inactive admins, I logged in once just to keep the buttons handy, but then another year went by and my mop rusted over. When I stopped, the policy at the time was that you pretty much just needed to ask nicely for the tools back, and have not been a jerk, so I figured should I ever feel ready to sling a mop again, I could. As it happens, policy changed around that time, specifically the three year thing. I wasnt really keeping up on policy and process at the time, since I was a. mostly just reading Mainspace and b. deliberately on Wikibreak, and also not monitoring my Talk Page or admin email account, so I totally missed the memo on that, otherwise I probably would have made a point of actually logging in on occasion. But that's on me, so thats cool. I think I might make a personal subpage discussing how policy and process has changed since 2006.

Editing

edit

I have gotten into copy editing pretty heavily since I joined Wikipedia, which has inspired me to spend some time reviewing style, grammar, and punctuation rules that I have forgotten since my days in secondary education. I love nothing better than chewing through prose, leaving clear wording, excellent punctuation, and informative and accurate inter-wiki links in my wake. At least that's my goal.
