Introduction

edit

Hi, and welcome to my user page. I'm Brian Kunde, currently registered on Wikipedia as BPK2; previously I contributed briefly as Bpk1, and from IP addresses 171.64.139.118 and 171.64.139.139, among others. My earliest edit I can now identify was on July 27, 2005. My interests are varied, some including, as reflected in my postings, speculative fiction and literature in general, English Renaissance theater, American comic books, and ancient history. Most of my postings concern literary figures and literary works. This page is updated as time and circumstances warrant; the "Articles created" section being the part updated most frequently. ~BPK, 11/9/05, rv. 2/21/06, 10/1/07, 1/5/12, 11/8/13, 11/5/14, 6/30/17.

Articles created

edit

The listing is up-to-date as of the latest date cited in the prefatory count table. It includes templates created for use with other articles and recreates of occasional articles originally authored by others (most of which were also extensively rewritten or expanded), which are clearly noted in the list. It does not include items added incidentally to other work, such as discussion tabs, image uploads, redirect or disambiguation pages, and categories.

Count of new articles by month

edit

The count is current through 10/1/24. Months in which no new articles were created are in red. My monthly and yearly record holders for new articles are in blue. Numbers that are not final are in orange.

I discovered that one Wikipedia article cites me as a source (in an external link); the article Magnetic tape selectric typewriter (renamed IBM MT/ST on 3/6/2007) references my old essay "A Brief History of Word Processing (Through 1986)". How about that! —1/26/2007, rv. 6/30/2010, 3/30/2015.

Now I note that the article Word processor cites my essay too, which makes a lot more sense. —9/26/2007. (That article has since been made a briefer, more general treatment, while its content, together with the citation, has been moved to Word processor (electronic device). —5/4/2018.)

The Remains of the Day is another article now citing me as a source (as of yesterday), this time referencing my site "The Best English-Language Fiction of the Twentieth Century: A Composite List and Ranking". —6/30/2010.

On 9/15/2013 two references to my website on Mary Tappan Wright were added to the article on Wright's husband, John Henry Wright in support of some biographical data. While flattered, I felt compelled to remove them, as my website did not in this case meet Wikipedia's standards as a reliable source (being self-published and not in these instances directly referencing authoritative sources). One citation even pointed to a piece reproduced from the Mary Tappan Wright article I had previously written for Wikipedia itself, meaning that that Wikipedia had been made to cite itself as its own authority (albeit at one remove)! At some point I'll have to replace the no-doubt well-intentioned work of the editor who perpetrated the situation with proper sourcing... —9/19/2013.

As of 11/4/2018, my review of Darrell Schweitzer's novel The Dragon House is now cited in the article on the book. I'm not sure how legitimate this is, because (1) I'm not exactly a prominent reviewer, and (2) I actually wrote that Wikipedia article, so having it to cite my own review does not seem entirely good form. On the other hand, I'm not the one who added the citation, so I'm not going to second guess the addition. Wouldn't be surprised if someone else questions and removes it for the same reasons I'm uncomfortable with it, though! —11/4/2018.
